Cheex Incarnate 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I can't stand the Rock. I cannot stand him. I've bit my tongue every time I heard praise for his recent WWE appearences, but after last night I can bite no more. His talking to his dick routine ("whoa daddy") and calling every girl in the audience "momma" hasn't ever been cool. It's just nerdy. Really nerdy. His skills on the mic have eroded away since his face turn after the Goldberg fued. Now he tricks people into thinking he has charisma by acknowledging EVERY person in the crowd no matter how miniscule their reaction. The Rock's routine is tired, and it has been tired since the first time he did it. I vote either he just retires once and for all and never comes back (unless its for a big BIG money match). Or he can actually stick around for more than 2 nights. anyone agree with me.....anyone? -cheex
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally, I'm in the middle of the road. I like him showing up and entertain people, but on the other side he's taking away 15-20 minutes from wrestlers who could use the time to do something like get over. Did anyone forgot CHRIS BENOIT pulled heat duty because of all the time wasted on the Divas/Rock? Plus only FOUR people wrestled on RAW. Thats gotta be a record low. The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Did anyone forgot CHRIS BENOIT pulled heat duty because of all the time wasted on the Divas/Rock? But we get to see him in the Main Event Spot against Tomko... isn't that what we've been waiting for, I know I have.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I don't agree, it's not hurting the show. A few people like you may think it's a waste of time but the majority like it and the live arena especially does. It's not like he does it all the time either, he rarely shows up. Shanghai Kid 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I disagree, the Rocks promos are still the most entertaining thing on Raw when he shows up. Nobody in the WWE can cut a promo like the Rock, because he talks like an actual person and basically says whatever he's really thinking, so the fans feel it more since it doesn't sound generic or something that a writer in the back came up with. Rock always has great, great one liners. "Their's about to be a homocide in this son of a bitch". "Got some good weed in Anaheim" "What dude said Sushi". And let's not remember his last appearance- "The Miami dolphins defense sitting in the front row, I didn't know Miami had a defense". I don't see how anybody can hate the Rock interrupting something already as stupid as the Diva Search. The Rock and Coaches ongoing feud is pretty damn good. You really have to have no sense of humor to not laugh at least once during a Rock promo. He always puts midcarders over also. Whether it be Hurricane or Tajiri, it's not his fault the writers don't follow up with it when he's gone. And the live arenas absolutely loves it, what else on the show is going to give them theirs money worth? Lita and Kane getting married?
Cherry Blossom Viscount 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 How can anyone call HHH's promos long winded and boring when the Rock comes out and hogs 20 minutes of airtime putting over his dick, using lame slang, and taking an eternity to say one sentence? How anyone can say last night's promo was entertaining is a mystery to me. Have any of you seen Rock's past mic work? Even as a face back in 1999 he was better than this abortion. Oh me oh my. Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 unfortunately not even the Rock Made the Stupid incessent Diva angle any more entertaining. I swear its a train wreck you may as well have the diva's in XFL Tanktops thats how low it is
Mole 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 The Rock was the only thing that saved me from changing the channel during that segment.

The difference between a 20 minute Rock promo and a 20 minute HHH promo is that the Rock actually entertains both the arena fans and the televised audience. How could you NOT find it funny? Off the top of my head it already ranks in the top 5 promos of the year, and that says alot considering he was trying to get the Diva contest over, something that Jesus Christ couldn't do. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 This Rock hate just amazes me. The guy never has a problem with putting a guy over. If Vince asks him to do a JOB, he'll fucking do it. Okay, so he doesn't wrestle anymore. Big whoop. He's a 9 time world champion already (yes, I'm counting the 2 WCW title wins), what else do you expect him to do? Feud with Billy Gunn again? I mean think about it, regardless of him not being there on the active roster, he STILL entertains people whether its on the big screen or whenever he makes his half annual surprise appearace. He's only 30, he can do more with his life in Hollywood than WWE could ever do with him. Plus with The Rock out of the picture, that gives the spot to some other guy that could use it for his own career. Plus if Rock does come back for WM, you know he will, no need to hate him because you KNOW he will put on a good match. I could care less what most wrestlers do with their personal lives, just give me a good match, that's all I'm asking.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted August 24, 2004 The Rock really had very little to work with last night (diva search) and he made it somewhat interesting. He deserves credit for that much.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Benoit got his bit in with Batista, Star, and, albeit on Heat, is still having his match. So he didn't really lose anything from it. Rhyno gets the rub by making the face run-in. Benjamin and Xian haven't come back yet. So of everybody on the booking sheet right now, who lost their spot due to the Diva segment? EXACTLY. Yeah screw the Rock he's never (and the Rock means NEVER) meant anything to any of us right? Of course everytime (with the exception of the Miami RAW perhaps) he's come in the last 14 months somebody's got the rub from him. 6/2/03: Vitamin C 12/8/03: La Resistance 3/1/04-Wrestlemania: Orton and Batista 5/17/04: Eugene Last night: Rhyno/Tajiri, Divas (as best he could) Yeah damn that Rock for coming in every so often and burying talent................. Detox 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 If The Rock is not going to wrestle full time they need to stop wasting air time on him considering that his schtick is tired and his so called "comedy" makes him look like a total tool
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 How does Tajiri get over by being Rocks slave, and saying one word? Rock beating someone up is NOT a rub, its beating someone up. To give someone the rub means to let them get the better of you, or at least pull a Taker/Hardy and have Hardy almost win a match but lose at the last moment. No one likes Eugene, so what rub did he get? Jericho is still stuck in midcards, as was Christian before being injured. Orton & Batista were getting pushed PERIOD. La Resistance's Rene Dupree is barely making it on Smackdown. What rub did he get?
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Rock is usually pretty good, but not even he could save last night's abortion known as the Diva Search. Even he poked fun at it with the "Yeah, one guy clapping" line and a few others, but the segment just was too long and boring that NOTHING could have saved it, including the second coming of Christ. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 You guys are just haters. You honestly think it's all the Rock's fault? If The Rock wouldn't have been there, you STILL would of had a 20 miniute lame ass segment with this Diva Search. Don't blame the Rock. Blame the Diva Search. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 The Diva crap would NOT have gone 25 mintues on its own. Rock spent a good 10-15 minutes just rambling, making random jokes about whoever he could see. Then the "Coachs revenge" stuff dragged it another 4-5 minutes. Shanghai Kid 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Seriously, put down the hatorrade. I guarantee the Rocks segment will be the highest rated on Raw just like it always is. His promos are on another level from everybody else, mainly because they seem totally unscripted and spur of the moment.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Rock is burying talent all the sudden? How does Tajiri get over by being Rocks slave, and saying one word? By being Rhyno's teammate, who made the save when La Rez was getting the upper hand. No one likes Eugene, so what rub did he get? That's when the "HHH is my favorite wrestler" push started in effect. Jericho is still stuck in midcards, as was Christian before being injured. This is Rock's fault HOW? Blame the Orton push for ruining it. Orton & Batista were getting pushed PERIOD. Perhaps, but Rock (and Foley) had a great deal to do with it. La Resistance's Rene Dupree is barely making it on Smackdown Again this is Rock's fault HOW? Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Rock's rub means shit when he's wiping the floor with everyone he interacts with that isn't being pushed to the moon like Orton was, so stop pretending "Rock beats up Wrestler #495" means anything for the latter person. Rock is simply pulling an Austin. He doesn't wrestle, shows up, beats up whoever and leaves.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I wouldn't say I hate the Rock, because he can still entertain me, but those times are few & far between. His "comedy" is severely overrated. As a face, I can hardly stand him. His heel stuff (Corporate Rock, as well as his last heel run) was pretty good, though.

Waste of time arguing this, considering your name pretty much points out you're biased towards the subject at hand.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted August 24, 2004 His tweener stuff was just as good. I never understood Foley bitching about in his books, 'Rock is mean'. That made Rock n Sock really--and kept Rock as a good face until mid 00 or whenever it was that he lost it, and consequently Rock n Sock return was sorta...there. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Wasn't Foley pissed because Rock took WAY TOO MANY liberties at the Rumble in 99, by bashing his (Foley's) face in with a chair 15 times while handcuffed?

Of course your endless bitching (like two other posters I've gotten in flamewars in the WWE area with) is somehow more valid than a poster named GreatOne telling everybody ragging on Rock for absolutely nothing to STFU. Gotcha, duder...............
