Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted August 24, 2004 From Dave Meltzer: Raw last night did a 3.6 rating, which is up from the previuos weeks, but hardly the level of what previous wedding shows have done. Johnny Jeter, Mark Magnus and Matt Cappotelli are now scheduled for Raw house shows. They are listed on a 10/1 show in Portland, ME. Fökai 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Various news, with all credit going to Da Meltz... --WWE greatly exceeded analysts expectations with a $7.8 million profit in the first quarter (May through July), although revenues were lower than anticipated. The predictions were $91 million in revenue and a $4.2 million profit. Total revenue was $81.6 million. Home videos and licensing (which includes first month sales of the Flair book) in particular were strong. --For the week of 8/9 to 8/15, the Smackdown show (the one that did the 2.6 rating) finished No. 12 for the week in the category of sports shows on network television. It trailed seven Olympics sessions, the Hall of Fame football game, both the Saturday and Sunday PGA championships coverage and FOX's Saturday baseball package. This past Thursday's show, at 3.1, was No. 46 for the week in the prime time network ratings, which is one of the highest ranking finishes the show has ever done, even with the lower than average number. --Smackdown will be delayed in Detroit the next two weeks. This coming Thursday's scheduled show will air on Sunday at 2 p.m. No time slot has been announced for the 9/2 show yet. (thanks to Stephen Gray)

Guest Joe_G Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Johnny Jeter, Mark Magnus and Matt Cappotelli are now scheduled for Raw house shows. They are listed on a 10/1 show in Portland, ME. (thanks to Devin Cutting) Jeter needs more seasoning and his interviews stink. Magnus isn' ready ringwise either. Capotelli should actually do OK. I hope this is just to get Jeter and Magnus on the road to get some experience.
Promoter 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2004 With ratings like that they better give Kane the title now... Didn't the ironman raw do the same rating? I would think Vince would have thought this raw would do better because of the "entertainment". Of course, this is coming off the break up Evolution from last week as well. EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Kane/Lita Wedding Draws Big Rating Segment highest rated for WWE in very long time.... While RAW only did a 3.6 rating this week, the Kane/Lita wedding itself was a big ratings winner. The final full quarter hour of RAW did a 4.0 rating, and the overrun did a big 4.9. That rating makes the wedding segment one of WWE's highest rated in a very long time. This also continues the trend of high rated WWE weddings. So that means nothing to me.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 But Kane has a back history of getting high ratings.....so WWE need to realize that they are pushing the wrong wrestler as the champ. 1) Kane is a Draw 2) Kane has fan support 3) Kane works well with HHH What else does Kane need to be champ? cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Kane is sort of a bulletproof guy. You can't kill the man's heat no matter what bad angle he's in, no matter if he jobs to his brother or Tajiri. It's odd, they seem to fall back on Kane when they need a decent rating, but they never seem to really try and push the guy.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Kane should turn face. Nah. Push him as a top heel. He obviously brings the ratings. I don't think his character would work as a face. Better yet, does SD need a lot of help in their ratings? Put him there.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 SOURCE: PWInsider.com Even though the overall rating was unimpressive (3.6), the latest data reveals that the Kane-Lita wedding was a huge success for WWE. Despite extremely mixed reviews from WWE fans (it was love or hate), the wedding severely boosted ratings. The last quarter of hour two scored a 4.0 and the overrun scored a 4.9. Thus, when compared with the average for the show, over one million additional households tuned in for the wedding. With televised "weddings" often being successful for WWE, and this wedding being no different, expect the "wedding storyline" to show up in future WWE programming. So, an additional 1 million ppl wanted to see this joke of a angle air out on TV? It was so predictable that either Matt or HBK was gonna appear and get their ass kicked. But that wall of fire...that came out of nowhere, seeing as how Kane is a witch now and can control the elements.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Better yet, does SD need a lot of help in their ratings? Put him there. Despite his efforts to make the character enjoyable, I'd rather have Kane as the champ than Bradshaw.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Vince sees the ratings.. Vince: quite frankly I finally figured it out. Quite frankly what we need for the ratings to go up Quite frankly...is Midgets! Thats what we have been missing....Midgets! JR, Johnny Ace Fire half the Raw Roster, they are never on anyway because of the Diva search. Since thats more important than their careers... More Midgets Quite frankly! Promoter 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 I guess we should expect more 2 match pony shows on the horizon. They first did this with the ironman raw and got the same rating. Vince might think he has found the solution although the ratings are still well below what TNN thought they would get in the deal.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Quick!!! Kane needs to start jobbing to Triple H and Shane McMahon!!! That seems to be what happens every time Kane starts showing he can be a ratings success.
