Edge said on BT that he talked to creative about doing the angle on who attacked him, last year, and they said that it didn't matter, and it wasn't real important.

I disagree, but what do you think?

So they admit that continuity is not important. Oh well, no surprise.

I disagree also. It would have made for a hell of a lot better story for a comeback then 'ARGH, IM GONNA BEAT KANE AND SHOW YOU ALL IM NOT HURT ANYMORE'. Even if it has been done before.

Hell..they could even still use it sometime down the line, have some character..maybe someone in Evo talk to Edge, and say they have a 'special tape' show him..it's Edge getting attacked...and by who? None other then...CHRIS BENOIT!? (Who was his tag partner for that match..there's a plot twist :P.) That's probaly a better way to start a Edge/Benoit feud, as well as getting Edge into Evolution then probaly what's going to happen. And in this case Benoit wouldn't have to resort to heat.

Of course the fine line between face and heel would be...not so fine here, but so what. If they couldn't tell from the SS reaction, many are now pass staying in that whole 'face/heel boundary'.

EDIT- for those maybe saying why the hell would Benoit just up and attack Edge..well umm..as we all know Edge at the time was on the rise. About to get a title shot in fact, they could just go the Chris Benoit was gonna make sure that didn't happen route. So he took Edge out, solidifying his spot in the main event. (even though it didn't work out.) Of course..this may make him a tweener, or maybe a bigger face seeing as how people hate Edge..lol..but if it did make him a tweener, with people booing because of the backstage attack..IMO that'd be better, since I'm getting tired of 'smiling because I beat you Chris Benoit' And I want 'The Ice Man' Chris Benoit back.

I disagree completely, as well. Especially since we saw what they did with him when he came back: nothing. At least with that angle, we'd have a reason to care about him.

Anyways, do you have the rest of the report?

Oh yeah, he also eventually plans on getting rid of the spear, perminently in order to use the Edgecution and the Edgeucator as his finishers.

I don't have the rest of the report. But, I'm sure someone else can provide that for us.

Well, at NWO, they teased it being Team Angle that attacked him so had Edge stayed on SD with Angle being a heel again, they could have refueded, but we all know how much AS would hate to see that happen again. I wouldn't have minded Lesnar revealing himself to doing it saying something like I didn't Edge to beat Team Angle because he sucks anyway

I wouldn't have minded HHH revealing it was Evolution that attacked him backstage for whatever reason either, but Edge / HHH was dropped obviously too.

Anyway, if I was Edge and I got my ass kicked and taken out for a year, hell yeah I'd come back and find out first thing who did it just like Austin did.

I don't remember what thread it's in, but shortly after Edge got hurt I had this idea about how Benoit should turn heel if Angle couldn't main event at Wrestlemania 19 against Lesnar and that he would admit that he took Edge out because he was bitter that his neck was broken and he wanted to take it out on someone. And then he would injure Angle's neck...and at Wrestlemania he was going to injure Brock's neck.

I think that it would of been cool to have them bring it up again, but I think even the writers had no idea who the fuck attacked him when they did the angle.

I'm hesitant about the idea of getting rid of the spear. I don't care what people say about its effectiveness. It's not that bad and it works as an anticipation move.

Benoit I believe was supposed to be the one who attacked Edge and it was Vince's idea to drop the angle saying that the angle has been used too many times. That's from memory so don't quote me on that.

It was a good idea to drop the angle. The "who hit austin" angle was a waste of time and was so far after the fact that I didn't give a fucking shit about it and wanted it to end.

I would assume, given the brilliance of the WWE writing team, something similar would have happened with Edge.

That said, they sure did fuck up his return anyways.

This is from a web chat with Edge a few months back

Just a question that's been really bugging me. When you were "attacked" at the No Way Out PPV 2003, thus enabling you to take time out to repair your neck, do you know who was supposed to be the person who took you out?

No and that's one thing that has really bothered me. I thought we had to touch on what happened but Vince McMahon didn't agree. He said: "Let's just move on and forget about it, because there have been so many guys out with injuries who've come back to get their attacker that it's been overdone."

But personally I think it's left a huge hole in the story that hasn't been filled, and needed to be. It doesn't make sense that I was laid out and then came back without going after anybody for it.

At first they didn't even want to mention the fact that I had been injured, but I said: "Well, where have I been?

"People know how much this business means to my character and me personally, so I wouldn't just leave for a year to chill out."

I think right at the beginning, Benoit was meant to be the culprit. It was going to be him who took out both Rhyno and I. But then that got scrapped, probably never to be mentioned again.

But who knows they might revisit it, they could play the clip two years from now and I could be like, "oh yeah – that's what happened!"

Like Edge before him, the spear is no longer cool. I think that it was cool when he started using it but now it feel to me not so much anticipated as expected. And while I like that many guys use the same moves every match I just don't look forward to Edge's spear the way he does it now...maybe once in a while if he could do it outta nowhere...

The spear is a fine move. Maybe it shouldn't be used as a finisher, but Edge shouldn't get rid of it altogether. It can be used as a perfectly good signiture move, or a secondary finisher. Sorta like how the AngleSlam is now, or the Lionsault. It can be a 'finisher', but not really.

I'll agree with Vince here:

It's Edge, does anyone (other than CC) care?

This is good news actually, now we won't have to worry about 'Mark Henry's revenge'....................

You know what would make a really interesting injury-revenge angle? If it was someone like a lackey who did the dirty deed, but turned and became a hot face, and they bolstered Edge as a heel? Heck, they could use Triple H to plant Orton in that spot.

And I don't believe the issue is whether it'd make a good feud, but another show of how Creative doesn't care about continuity. What's the point of wasting an injury angle if you're not going to go through with it.

Before he got injured, he was VERY over.

It's not like he has never gotten a reaction or anything. When he returned, yes, his heat was lacklustre. But it wasn't like that before.

I guess Rikishi wasn't available for this angle.
