Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 From the IWA Mid-South Message Board: IWA Mid-South Wrestling will be making the biggest announcement in company history to the live crowd at the Ted Petty Invitational, just two weeks from now. Let the speculation begin!
Guest Markingout Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 HERO, VERSUS PUNK... ONE MOR- AGAIN! If it's that IWA-MS will find Blitzkrieg and force him to wrestle, I will so die. In other words I have no idea, and this will make TPI even better. After 1 minute of thinking, I think IWA-MS may just have gotten a national DVD distribution deal.
Guest Joe_G Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I'd have to guess the national DVD deal as well, since that's the rage among a lot of indies these days. It's not like they're going to have a national television or PPV deal. Of course, it could always be they're shutting down, but from the way the announcement was worded I'd have to assume this is some kind of good news.
JoeDirt Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Maybe they got Foley to work for them, too. Maybe they're going to be on PPV/TV or have DVDs in Walmart. I have no idea. Can't wait to find out, though.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 A national DVD deal would be sweet. I wish RoH would get their DVDs out faster though, I think they put a new one out every 5 months or so. At that rate, it will take like 4 years for them to start putting out shows I don't already have on tape. Hopefully if IWA gets a deal theirs will come out faster.
Michrome Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I'm thinking it won't be a national DVD deal, as tons of indies have it and I don't think they would hype that this way. My guesses are: 1) Big outside name 2) Syndicated TV deal 3) IWA PPV? 4) Ian sold the company (ha)
Fro Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 There's no way they're getting a national TV deal (if they did, it's a miracle). I don't think a national DVD deal would be something big. A local TV show wouldn't be a big deal (they bought TV time in Louisville in the past). They wouldn't hype a surprise wrestler as a "big announcement", although I could see it be Foley appearing or Liger wrestling there before his ROH swing. They've obviously gotten some money recently since they've gotten a ton more aggressive in the last couple weeks (running in Evansville and running in the Louisville area again) and are booking a ton of name indy talent. I'm going to guess they're getting a show on Comcast Sports Chicago (a new channel that is just starting that has Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks games and is probably desperate for additional programming). That channel will probably be available throughout most of the Midwest.... it goes on the air October 1st. Comcast is a cable provider in both Evansville and the Louisville area, which may explain why they're starting to run shows in both places (because they know TV is on the way?). http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/col_rozn...?intid=38231192 http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/

Maybe they got Foley to work for them, too. Nah, if ROH gets Foley, then IWA does, it's not really that big. I am starting to lean toward big name star even though, I still think it might just be a national DVD deal. The reason they might bring in a big name is because maybe they want to be compared to ROH abit more. I mean ROH is bringing in Liger and Foley (and have had several other names in the past). Most internet people consider ROH to be the king of the indies, and maybe IWA wants to compete, and this is the first step, bringing in a big name. IWA or ROH... tough choice. I'd say I like ROH abit more.

Nevermortal Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 I heard it had to do with BJ Whitmer's upcoming personality transplant.
Guest Markingout Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Ian announces the long-awaited return of Adam Gooch. Ian finally recieved the death threats from the PCN, and realized he and his headbutts were no match for the Ninjaz.
Michrome Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 A tour of the east would be really pointless, I don't see why they'd do that. They won't be taking Liger, as there is more to the NJ/ROH negotiations to make this happen. Liger is stopping in inbetween tours, he isn't just open to come in all the time. Plus, IWA wouldn't want to seem like they were copying ROH.
Youth N Asia Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Ms Chif if having Youth N Asia's lovechild. It's probably DVD distribution though. They're running so many quality shows right now.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Nate Webb is running for President!
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 A Joint show with a big company? PWG or ROH? Do things like this happen?
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 I'm going to throw my idea out there.......a local TV deal. I got nuthin.
Cuban Linx Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Nate Webb is running for President! He's got my vote.
JustJoe2k5 Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 A local television deal shouldn't be the "Biggest Announcement Ever!" as it would only piss off fans who don't live in Indiana. I'm hoping they are expanding their territory and possibly planning some shows in the Mid-Atlantic. If their video quality is the same as in '03, a DVD distribution deal would be highly unlikely.
