Orton is the guy they want/expect to do business, and yet he gets booked to look like a pussy. Rock or Austin would have never run like that, and they would have had no problem beating Kane one on one in a Cage Match. Its frustrating to watch them screw up another guy who had potential to do somehting. It's called being smart, fella. Best thing to do when 4 guys are after you in a cage is run and live to fight another day. It actually makes more sense. Even from an elementary point of view, Rock and Austin are both bigger/stronger then Orton. They would have a much better shot at winning a physical contest with the likes of Kane. Or three other guys their size. Plus Orton has been billed from the beginning as the 'kid' of the WWE...so for him to easily hang with the 'big boys' would make no sense. What "sense" does it make to run back after you get thrown into the ropes? This is wrestling, you have to suspend disbelief for most of the stuff that goes on. If you look at the past the babyfaces that really draw and get over are the ones who are portrayed to be superhero like ass kickers. Nobody wants to idolize a guy who makes "smart deicisons" and does the thing that makes the most "sense". If anything, the opposite is true, the average fan likes when a guy gets put in an impossibel situation and somehow fights he way out. Thats the basis for superhero in any form of entertainment. Look at an action hero movie. They dont "book" the hero to be surrounded by villians and then....run away. Sure thats the so called smart thing to do, but I'm also certain that type of character wont sell very many tickets or merchandise. Ive used this before, but I can see kids going to school going "hey did you see Randy Orton, he's so smart he ran away, I cant wait to get into a fight so I can run too!". Did you read the ratings for the Kane/Lita wedding segment? They were huge and succesful. He could easily draw as a champion. But they are basically having him job from right, left, and center. It's pathetic. I have to question your mental capabilities if you think the wedding drawing numbers was because of Kane. Just so you can be enlightened, almost all weddings do big numbers. I mean by your logic, we should be pushing Test to the moon just because he was part of a highly rated wedding segment. Anyway, I'm not against kane, if thats who they want to push. Orton already proved himself to be tough by beating Foley in a hardcore match and pinning Benoit. That should be enough to get fans to swallow him beating Kane clean in the middle. Like a Hogan, Taker, Austin or Rock, the man has bullet-proof heat. You use THESE guys to get everyone else over, because a job wouldn't matter in the slightest to their credbility or fan support. Guest thebigjig Report post Posted September 7, 2004 I attended RAW tonight and I gotta say that it was a pretty entertaining show, though I have no idea how it came across on tv Just a few notes... The Kay Yeager Coliseum is TINY. It's literally the smallest arena I've been to, and the WWE STILL couldn't sell it out. The top half of the left side was tarped off... depressing but kind of funny. I'm assuming the reason that the ramp wasn't used, was because of the size of the place. Even the ring looked smaller than usual. It didn't strike me as a 20 x 20, but more like a 16 x 16. Also, the aisle leading to the ring must have been less than 20 feet which also surprised me, but from what I hear, all of these things didn't really come across any differently on tv. After the cameras stopped, something pretty interesting happened. HHH got into a huge verbal confrontation with this guy at ringside. It almost looked as if the poor bastard was going to start crying. Batista and Flair joined him, and as they all started walking away, the guy at ringside said something else... and HHH turned around, walked back over, and grabbed the guys baseball cap off of his head... he then proceeded to rub it against his crotch and then he wiped his ass with it. It gets worse... HHH gave the cap to Batista... who placed the cap inside of his tights. The camera focused in... and yes, the crowd was treated to a small split second visual of Batistas Leviathan, which was rather disturbing. He then followed HHH's example, by wiping his ass with it... except actually doing inside of his tights before HHH grabbed the cap, and after wiping FLAIRS ass with it, placed it back on the poor guys head. "From Andrew Betts I watched Raw and it was good for the most part but they went too far with the HHH/Eugene match and this whole Kane/Lita thing has to stop. Enough is enough. Me personally, I dont care, I can appreciate he "smarts" for running away, but what I like isn't what the vast majority of the viewing public. I mean I like a 60 minute match and most fans would sooner skip the first 55 minutes and catch the ending. All I'm saying is that in terms of trying to give Orton the best chance to make money for the company he needs to be a superman type babyface becaus ehe's not good enough in the ring to get over on ring work alone. So sadly, by proximity alone Gerwitz probably has a better chance of scoring with Trish than any of us.
