Guest HeyMcFly Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Hey all. Since I just watched "UHF" the other day, I figured I would start a thread asking you all how many and which are your favorites, of movies that have no sort of plot (or a thin plot) and are just all about the nonsense and corniness, basically just for jokes. "UHF" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" are my favorites in this genre. I have yet to see it, but I've heard that "Napoleon Dynamite" is in the same genre as well. Which are your favorites and which parts of those movies (or which jokes) do you like the most?

Yuna_Firerose Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Not Another Teen Movie [just so hilarious!] Scary Movie 1 and 3. 2 just....sucked.
Mik Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Flipping through the channels last year, there was a 20 minute "movie" on HBO called something like Pearlmageddon 2, and it combined the shitty plots from Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. We ended up Tivoing it and watching it and it was pretty funny...just really short.
eiker_ir Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 my all time favorites of this kind of comedies: - Airplane 1 & 2 - Hot Shots! 1 & 2 - Naked Gun Series
razazteca Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Mafia! if you like Jay Mohr you will like this movie
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Hot Shots! Hot Shots! Part Duex Loaded Weapon 1 Space Balls .. are my particular faves (with Airplane) "I'm surrounded by Assholes!" - Dark Helmut.
KanadianKrusty Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Wronfully Accused, IMO better than the Naked Gun series.
razazteca Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I dont remember but was Austin Powers a parody of the Man Name Flint movies or the Dean Martin movies or both?
Guest Sylvan Grenier Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I always thought it was James Bond.
The Czech Republic Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 It's not a movie, but Police Squad! (in color) is even better than the Naked Gun.
eiker_ir Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 i saw Fatal Instinct the other day on TV, pretty funny. The part where Ned(main character) starts dancing with the ladie's shoes at the store is the best.
Ravenbomb Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Flipping through the channels last year, there was a 20 minute "movie" on HBO called something like Pearlmageddon 2, and it combined the shitty plots from Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. We ended up Tivoing it and watching it and it was pretty funny...just really short. Yeah, that thing was hilarious
razazteca Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I always thought it was James Bond. You need to watch some old Dean Martin spy movies. All he does the whole movie is drink and hit on women.
Guest netslob Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I always thought it was James Bond. You need to watch some old Dean Martin spy movies. All he does the whole movie is drink and hit on women. well, life imitates art.
Exslade ZX Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Shriek if you know what I did last friday the 13th Oh god, I haven't seen that movie in a while...I really do want to see that again now remembering it...I believe I actually thought it was funny.
Australian Pride Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Space Balls is far and away my fave. The Naked Gun series and the Hot Shots movies are up there. I enjoyed Robin Hood:Men in Tights as well.
nogoodnick Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Not Another Teen Movie [just so hilarious!] Scary Movie 1 and 3. 2 just....sucked. 2 was alright, but SC3 was just about the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. Correction: the biggest piece of shit.
Guest Astro Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 The Silence of the Hams Just so cheesy you have to enjoy it
razazteca Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 If you want cheesey look for National Lampoon in the title of the movie.
Ravenbomb Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 For a Sr. Advanced English project me and my partner for the project made a movie called The Good, The Bad, and The Iliad that was really corny.
AndrewTS Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Airplane! The Pink Panther Movies Young Frankenstein This Is Spinal Tap Dr. Strangelove Spaceballs Austin Powers WAS once upon a time a parody of the spy genre...but the Bond movies were never all that serious to begin with. They reveled in cliches like a pig in slop. Casino Royale was a movie based on a Bond novel that was a straight-up parody. I've heard it isn't too good, but it's got Peter Sellers... This same topic came up on another MB I frequent. Other peeps suggestions: Kentucky Fried Movie History of the World Pt. 1 Hardware Wars Arachnophobia and Starship Troopers both seem to be parodies but aren't really blatant. It's hard to describe...however, try not to think of them as serious and they're hilarious. Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is a great spoof/tribute of those crappy 50's sci fi movies. It's fairly new and came out on DVD.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Anything Mel Brooks does... Blazing Saddles being my personal favorite.
razazteca Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Repossessed (1990) is one of the better Leslie Neilson movies made plus it has Mean Gene and Jesse Ventura in it.
