Guest TheJuice31 Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I've never been before. If I get bored, I may stop by tomorrow night, and I was just curious if you have to be a certain age or if theres a fee, or anything else I should know before going?
Guest PlatinumBoy Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 Honestly, Sports Bars are GREAT for PPVs--cheap and easy. Down near my house there is this one REAAAALLY nice once, with bigscreens all over, big crowds, and I figure--it's like 3-5 buck cover charge for the PPV, then 10 bucks for food, = cheaper than 40 for the PPV and 30 on drinks, beer, pizza, etc. Hooters has no cover charge, sometimes the volume can be a bit gamey, but it's pretty fun. For example, I watched SummerSlam 2002 at a Hooters, and the place was NUCLEAR for the end of HBK vs HHH and Brock vs Rock. Also I watched WM 20 at the before mentioned Sports Bar and it was FUN--the place went NUTSSSSSSSS when Benoit won, and when Eddie won the month before the place also went unglued. So yea--sports bar = good atmosphere and cheaper usually, unless you go the "Call up 10 friends and each throw down 8 bucks for PPV and food at someone's house" route, which worked in high school, but now in college with dorms and apartments--a little harder.
Guest traveshamockery Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I haven't been to one since Wrestlemania, but it's a good time and highly recommended. There is no cover charge or age requirement (I remember seeing plenty of kids), but you will be expected to order something. The only challenge will be finding a place to sit.
Enigma Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I have been going to Hooters for every PPV since Vengeance '03 and it's great. No cover charge, no age restrictions. Just eat food and watch WWE PPV for free. It's great.
Guest Evolution Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I've never paid for any of their overpriced food at my local Hooters, but I am considerate enough to buy a drink there when I watch the PPVs. A local theater that ran indy movies used to run WWE PPVs on a movie screen, but they seem to have put a stop to that. That being said, it's the best choice to go if you don't want to spend the money yourself to watch the PPV.
Twisted Intestine Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 Famous players runs WWE PPVs on the big screen for around $10
Placebo Effect Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 If I cared enough to go, there's a Hooters only twenty minutes from me. But alas, no interest.
SamoaRowe Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 I've been meaning to go to one for ages, yet I never do. Too late to make plans for tomorrow's ppv, but someday... someday, I shall watch wrestling at hooters.
Guest TheJuice31 Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 To anyone who has gone, do they show the PPV on each TV set or if there like a designated section where they show it?
Guest Shoes Head Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Sports bars are definitely a fantastic experience. I've been going regularly since Unforgiven 2001 and I make sure to always sit next to this mentally slow gentleman who still believes wrestling is real.
AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 The PPV is shown on every TV set at Hooters(unless certain ones do designate an area, especially with the NFL season starting up and all).
Guest Big Daddy V1 Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Famous players runs WWE PPVs on the big screen for around $10 Hey, I went ALL of 2003 and up to Now Way Out 2004 at Famous. Great view, good seats and you meet intresting fans/smarks there. I would have seen WM XX but I got invited to someone's house. So 14 straight months of PPV's (new record) Now I don't go unless it's a joint PPV. (So the big 4) But bars are good places to go as well. I go to Tailgate Charlie's, they give away everything. Just buy 10 tickets you walk home with so much old merchandise.
SuperJerk Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Call me lazy, but I'd almost rather spend the $35 to stay home, and not have to put up with the parking, finding a table, over-priced food (and at Hooters, the waitresses seem to think they're entitled to a 30% tip for dressing like sluts), cigarette smoking, and obnoxious marks you find watching at a Hooters or many other bars.
Hoff Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 You're crazy. The atmosphere is great, everybody's into it. You don't HAVE to buy food (although, courtesy dictates at least a beer or soda) but, at Hooters' anyway, the food is good and really not too expensive (roughly $12 for a complete meal, with tip). Parking's a bitch, but such is life, and you deal with it. Honestly, Sports Bars are GREAT for PPVs--cheap and easy. I haven't been back to Hooters since SSlam '02, but it's purely by chance.
Hoff Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Oh! I was gonna say. Hooters (well, the one in Waukesha, WI, anyway) has one or two of the...maybe 6 TVs set up with closed captioning. The volume CAN get a bit "dicey" (well put) but it's a nonissue, really.

Sounds good, but Waukesha is a suck city to drive in.
SuperJerk Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 You're crazy. The atmosphere is great, everybody's into it. The last straw for me was the loud booing that occurred when Lesnar eliminated Undertaker at the 2003 Rumble.
Guest AdamF Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 If you don't normally watch PPV's with a group or a crowd, definately go. It's a lot of fun. Similar atmosphere to being there live (or at least watching a big sports game). I little more enjoyable to watch a subpar PPV in that environment for less $$$ than to watch the same show at home by yourself for $40 and feeling ripped off. At least you would have had a good time if you went out.
Guest TheJuice31 Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 if the hooters is 30 min away, how early should i leave?

Sad thing is, there really are people that feel that way. They are called "girlfriendless".

CanadianChick Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Sad thing is, there really are people that feel that way. They are called "girlfriendless". I'm straight. And if I was old enough, I'd go somewhere to watch a PPV. I don't know of any placed around here that actually show WWE PPVs though.
The Tino Standard Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Hooters is nice for the... ahem... SCENERY... but if you want the most bang for your buck, I cannot pimp BW-3 enough. $5 cover charge, but they give you a ticket that is good for $5 worth of food. So, basically, you can get a full meal AND watch a PPV (not to mention with a fun crowd around you) all for less than $10.
reign Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 This is amazing...I had no idea that Hooters would show PPVs....do they do this all over the country...please don't tell me this is some "canadian" thing only....
Hoff Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Shit no. Hooters is PIMPIN' SHOWS, NATION-WIDE...

If you go to wwe.com under the PPV window there is a bar that says Blast Area. It has a list of where you can watch the ppvs in your selected state.
The Czech Republic Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Shit no. Hooters is PIMPIN' SHOWS, NATION-WIDE... It's just a big fun-lovin' restaurant.
The Amazing Rando Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 I saw SumSlam 02 in a sports bar, and it was probably the best time I've had during a PPV ever. Myself and ONE OTHER GUY cheering for Brock against the Rock and going apeshit with applause over a chorus of boos when he beat him. It also helps that a good chunk of that show reeked of awesomeness and seeing HBK come back at nearly full force live was an unbelievable mark out moment.
The Niggardly King Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 I wish my Glory Days did this...I could have a few Heart Attack Burgers, and throw down some Chicken.
