Guest complete confusion Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 What do you feel are the best Rock Instramentuals out there, of any style or sub-genre.

Corey_Lazarus Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 The fuck is an "instramentual"? Is it a partial menstral cycle, or something? Oh, INSTRUMENTAL. My favorites are: Shadows Fall - "Casting Shade" Shadows Fall - "Lead Me Home" Beyond The Embrace - "The Bending Seas" Dream Theater - "Overture 1926" Metallica - "Orion" Metallica - "To Live Is To Die"
Guest JebusNassedar Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Rush - YYZ Mastodon - Ol'e Nessie Frank Zappa - Peaches En Regalia, Zoot Allures, Apostrophe Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Sinister Minister
Guest Fook Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Speaking of instumentals, what's everyone's opinion on Joe Satriani? I have two of his albums (Surfing With the Alien and The Extremist) and happen to enjoy his work enough to want to get more of it.
Red Baron Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Fook I recommend most of Satch music if I were you. It's more enjoyable to listen than Vai or Malmsteen
Guest Real F'n Show Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Chimaira- Implements of Destruction Great song, and an awesome album altogether. Everyone needs to own Chimaira's 'The Impossibility of Reason'. You won't regret buying it, unless you absolutely hate that kind of music.
Use Your Illusion Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 'Call of Ktulu' - Metallica 'Eruption' - Eddie Van Halen Can't go wrong there. UYI
Giuseppe Zangara Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Mogwai - Like Herod also Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan
Guest Anticrombie Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Speaking of instumentals, what's everyone's opinion on Joe Satriani? I have two of his albums (Surfing With the Alien and The Extremist) and happen to enjoy his work enough to want to get more of it. I have most of Satch's work including 2 live albums. Flying In A Blue Dream is a great album, but 5 songs have him singing. His voice isn't all that bad, but his lyrics are very campy in the "let's rock forever" sorta way. You should pick up Crystal Planet next, which is my favorite Satriani album.
Guest PlatinumBoy Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Anyone here like Acoustic? Two words: Leo Kottke. He's like the Hendrix of acoustic guitar. Seriously. Most of his CD's/albums are mainly instrumental and AMAZING. Edited: And of course, the coda of Layla.
The Amazing Rando Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Kottke is pretty sweet. He did a bit of work with Mike Gordon as well and both of them together are quite the gift to the ears.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 'Call of Ktulu' - Metallica Don't forget about "Orion." Also: "Atom Heart Mother"- Pink Floyd "Interstellar Overdrive"- Pink Floyd
Styles Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Metallica: Call of Ktulu, Orion and To Live Is To Die.
moral suasion Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Anyone here like Acoustic? Two words: Leo Kottke. He's like the Hendrix of acoustic guitar. Seriously. Most of his CD's/albums are mainly instrumental and AMAZING. Edited: And of course, the coda of Layla. I saw Leo Kottke in concert. Oh man, he did more talking than playing. It was horrible. He talked and talked and talked about the dumbest stuff and of course all the fourty year old midwesterners laughed and laughed. It was painful to sit through. I do think his albums are solid espically his most recent.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Anything the Band ever released.
