NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Wow, it just wouldn't be a Cowboys victory over the Skins, if the Skins hadn't YET AGAIN given me the false hope that they were going to pull it off......
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Terence Newman DID get away with some BUTT-ass pass interference. That said, the Skins couldn't deal with it. Was it the next play or two plays later that Brunell got bum-rushed by Dixon? That was the ball game.

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 The Skins offense basically lost it for the team for the 2nd week in a row. I'll admit it was nice to see them wake up with 4mins left to go in the game, but too little too late. You can point to many things in this game, the least of which was the Dallas defense, but hey Dallas won the game yadda yadda yadda..*please kill me*

You must be talking about ESPN.com because everyone on Monday Night Countdown picked the cowboys except Irvin.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I am sure that all 3 guys from the ESPNews show that is also shown on ESPN2 picked the Redskins. I also think that both Mike Ditka and Michael Irvin agreed that the Redskins would win.

I mean the game really could have gone either way taking into account some awful officiating.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Instant Replay needs to be adjusted so it can be used on any questionable call.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Well the last non-call on Dallas couldn't have been challenged anyway because Gibbs stupidly challenged the Dallas touchdown. So much for that Washington line getting improved. I'm surprised that they weren't scraping Brunell off the field by the 4th quarter.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Instant Replay needs to be adjusted so it can be used on any questionable call. Probably. I know why it might never be approved, because of how much time it would amount to throughout a single game, however it is kind of alarming that a lot of these calls seemed rather obvious and basically either weren't called, or went the wrong way. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Yeah, refs are still too much of a factor in games anymore. I think it's really stupid that you lose a challenge even if you were right. Seems like you're punishing someone else for your mistake in that instance.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 If you are right twice you gain another challenge. Seems fair enough to me.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Terence Newman DID get away with some BUTT-ass pass interference. You know, the new pass interference rules have made watching these first couple of weeks very frustrating, from a fantasy (and football fan) perspective. It's almost as if the NFL are running some kind of bizarre experiment where they only told half of the referees about the new pass interference restrictions. There's just no consistency in enforcement whatsoever. Some guys are still getting away with absolute murder and other guys are getting flagged for foul language. What gives? Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 The PI shit was annoying as hell last night. Just an awful job officiating. I won't make excuses for losing because the Cowboys made plays when they had to, but overall officiating sucked fat ball sack. 1) Terry Glenn getting a flag his way after he pulled his defender into him. Awful. 2) Clinton Portis being allowed to run after being touched down and his knee hitting the ground. 3) Rod Gardner getting raped by Terrance Newman way before the ball got into the vicinity. I sure hope the league shapes up it's officials. A good game was played last night and unfortunately the officials end up taking away some of the luster of a good game because they blew ass chunks. As for the Cowboys, you gotta tip your hat to them and call them daddy!
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Is it just me, or has the officiating gotten worse since the advent of instant replay? Before the refs seemed to just call really big-time questionable calls the wrong way, now it just seems like we get a questionable call every quarter, and what's worse many of them aren't reviewable because of the P.I. rule.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I don't know if it's gotten worse, I just think the same bad officials are allowed to linger around. This new illegal hands thing has really made things worse IMO. It seems more a tool for a ref to help his favorites then an actually useful rule.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Yeah, I don't know if it's gotten worse either, but they have to relax some of the rules. Might as well allow only 10 defenders on the field they way they're going now. I guess points=ratings, or whatever. The problem I have with the officials is that nothing ever happens to them when they repeatedly blow huge calls. It's always, "Oops, sorry we cost you that victory; we'll do better next time!" or something similar and they move on. Why the fuck does Jeff Tripplett still have a job? Or Ed Hochuli? These guys suck as officials, yet they're still employed. Why?
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I really enjoyed (and by 'enjoyed' I mean 'was sickened by') a missed passintereference call in the GB-Indy game because the nearest official tripped and fell on the sidelines...
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Yeah, the one ref fell down, but the question I have is why didn't the back judge (I think it was the back judge, anyway), who was standing in the middle of the field not 10 yards away, make the PI call? Replay clearly showed he was in position to make it...why didn't he?

MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2004 You want to see some bad reffing... what about when the refs practically tried to hold the Bucs hand down to the endzone against the Seahawks in week 2? It was un believable.
