Guest INXS Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 News Story An Israeli security source has told the BBC Israel was involved in the killing of a Hamas activist in Syria on Sunday. Officially Israel has neither confirmed nor denied being behind the attack on Izz El-Deen Sheikh Khalil, whose car was destroyed by a bomb in Damascus. Israel described him as a point man for the Palestinian Islamist movement's military actions in Gaza Strip. Syria said Israel's attack showed its "intention to shake regional security and stability". The Israelis had vowed to hit Hamas leaders "wherever they are" after suicide bomb attacks in August in Beersheba left 16 people dead. Witnesses said they saw Mr Khalil get into his car and answer his mobile phone moments when the vehicle blew up. Three passers-by were injured. Warning to Syria Mr Khalil, 39, was a senior figure in Hamas' military wing and a member of the generation that set the group up. He was based in Damascus along with other senior Hamas figures, including the overall leader, Khaled Meshaal. He was among about 400 Palestinian militants deported by Israel to Lebanon in the early 1990s. Israel has killed dozens of Hamas members in the last three years, including its two most senior leaders earlier in 2004. Analysts say this latest Israeli assassination is intended to send a message to Syria's government that it will pay a high price for supporting Palestinian militant groups in the occupied territories. Syria insists its support is political and not military. BBC correspondent Barbara Plett says Syria's dilemma is how to respond. Damascus cannot risk direct military confrontation with Israel, while indirect retaliation, through Hamas or another militant group, will only confirm Israel's accusations against Syria. Our correspondent says Damascus will probably mount diplomatic protests, which are unlikely to do much to thwart Israeli action against it. This is almost unbelievable. Who the hell do Israel think they are exactly? Planting a bomb in another country - isn't that called er..TERRORISM? Fair enough, they went after a HAMAS guy - that's all good - but planting bombs in another country is just not on. Let's remember who the aggressors are.
CheesalaIsGood Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I wonder if on the other end of the phone was Blofeld saying "Goodbye, Mr. BOND!" Maybe it was Sharon. Let Isreal do what it wants. If they do something stupid to bring on a war, let them. Maybe then this retarded fiasco will finally be solved. Just leave American soldiers out of it.
Golgo 13 Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Nope. Hamas are still the aggressors. It was a retaliatory strike and one justified at that, considering just who Syria is what with their open support and harboring of Hamas and their members. It's not like Syria is open to handing them over to the blasphemous Jewish state and Israel can't sit idly by until these guys stroll back in with their plans to prep another attack. By then it might be too late and another 16 people would be lost. Anyway, Syria gave up their right to claim terrorism when they began supporting and running terrorism schemes of their own, in addition to getting involved with Hamas. If Syria can't take the heat, etc., etc.
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 An Israeli security source has told the BBC Israel was involved in the killing of a Hamas activist Heh, "activist".
Guest Shoes Head Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Just leave American soldiers out of it. You know full damn well that this will never be the case. No doubt they would even dare edo something of this magnitude is because they know they will always have US backing.
Dr. Tom Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 An Israeli security source has told the BBC Israel was involved in the killing of a Hamas activist in Syria on Sunday. "Activist" my ass. They killed a terrorist, and good for them. Syria said Israel's attack showed its "intention to shake regional security and stability". Syria can fuck right off. Israel has killed dozens of Hamas members in the last three years, including its two most senior leaders earlier in 2004. Good. Here's hoping they wipe out the rest of the organization. Analysts say this latest Israeli assassination is intended to send a message to Syria's government that it will pay a high price for supporting Palestinian militant groups in the occupied territories. Again, good. If Syria has such a problem with Israel's actions, let them do something about it. I'm sure the Israelis could use some more land. This is almost unbelievable. Who the hell do Israel think they are exactly? Quit your theatrical bellyaching, commie. Israel is a vital American ally in a cesspool of terror, and they're surrounded by countries who hate them and would love to destroy them. The problem for those countries is that Israel could wipe the floor with them if it wanted to, so they have to use cowardly terrorist attacks. The fact that we can still speak of Palestinians in the present tense is a testimony to the patience of Israel. Personally, I'd like to see them kirk out and kill a few hundred million "people" over there, but that's just me. Let's remember who the aggressors are. Indeed. It's Hamas, the Palestinians, and Moslem terrorists.
Guest BDC Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I'd call the aggressor a group whose top priority is the elimination of the other. Whose charter is THAT in? Hmmmm, could it be HAMAS?
Guest Shoes Head Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Israel is a vital American ally in a cesspool of terror, Explain yourself.
EricMM Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 He's saying that the middle east is a cesspool of terror
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 and that Israel's our ally. That wasn't too complex, man.
bob_barron Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Let's remember who the aggressors are. Uhhh Hamas?
Guest INXS Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Actually i'm refering to Israel being aggressive towards Syria, by you know, planting a bomb inside their country, albeit to kill a suspected terrorist (which in itself I don't have a problem with, any member of HAMAS needs to be wiped out).
Special K Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Jesus Christ. They act like assassinating a specific guy who is your enemy is worse than randomly blowing up busfulls of innocent civilians, including kids. INXS can you in any way back up your viewpoint? Because at this point it sounds like you have no idea of what you are talking about.

Anytime you have to use the word "albeit" in your bitching, then it becomes petty bitching. -=Mike
kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Because at this point it sounds like you have no idea of what you are talking about. At this point? Just how long have you been reading this gentleman's fine work?...
Special K Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 It amazes me how people flip Israel shit. You want to build a wall to keep out bombers? whine whine whine. You assassinate a member of a movement whose express purpose is killing you? Whine Whine Whine. Suspected terrorist INXS? HAMAS's entire existence is devoted to killing Israelis. It's not like they're a fucking social club that just happens to have a high enrollment of terrorists. If we catch Bin Laden, we have the luxury of detaining him and putting on a big trial, which will have a forgone conlusion. We have that luxury because we have a hugely powerful military. Israel literally is in a fight for its life. It can't extend it's military power to take out its enemies in a 'civilized' way. Assassination seems like a reasonable recourse. Bombs are not terrorism. Killing civilians is terrorism. And in terms of agression? Who broke the treaties that Clinton worked so hard for? Tell me that, smart guy. If we were having our borders blown up constantly I goddamn gaurantee you that you would want to take action.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I love it when someone first reads INXS' posts for the first time...

kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Damnit, I used "first" twice -- oh well. So, Special K, was it good for you?...
Special K Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I feel grumpy, but I feel I said what I had to say. Is he a troll? Because I live in Seattle, which is really liberal, and consider myself something of a moderate, actually closer to libertarian, and I've only ONCE had someone try to tell me that Israel is the bad guy. I'll disagree with someone, and am all for political discussion and arguments, but come on! Try to at least know what you're talking about.

kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Is he a troll? Nah, I think that he actually believes the crap he says. Just treat him like the crazy uncle every family hides in the basement when Thankgiving dinner comes around...
Dr. Tom Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Israel is a vital American ally in a cesspool of terror, Explain yourself. Do I really need to? Hell, that's basic English, with a little remedial geography.
The Czech Republic Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 An Israeli security source has told the BBC Israel was involved in the killing of a Hamas activist in Syria on Sunday. "Activist" my ass. They killed a terrorist, and good for them. A "Hamas activist" is akin to a "cocaine enthusiast."
Special K Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I have never heard the phrase 'cocaine enthusiast', but I love it. (The phrase, not cocaine.)

You sit here bitching about Israel being the aggressors, and yet somehow the fact that Syria is harboring terrorists whose sole purpose in life is to kill as many Israelie CIVILIANS as possible totally and completely eludes you.

Hell, that's basic English, with a little remedial geography. That Israel is an important ally is the usual response when I always ask why we dump so much cash into them. I just can't see it, I was looking for your take. The only thing I imagine we would need allies in the mideast for is defending Israel. We just sold them thousands of smartbombs which they paid for in money which we intially loaned to them. I don't see what role they play internationally except as a money pit. A Jewish homeland. Great concept. A Jewish homeland brought to you by US taxpayers is a poor idea.

I just can't see it, I was looking for your take. Well, Israel is the only open country that doesn't fund terrorism internationally in that shitbox. The only thing I imagine we would need allies in the mideast for is defending Israel. We just sold them thousands of smartbombs which they paid for in money which we intially loaned to them.
