Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Before I download, I'd like to know whether or not this sounds like every other Velvet Revolver song. And who originally did "Surrender," because I'm not downloading a song by a band I don't like that much covering a song I'm not sure if I like or not. Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 I'm guessing this is the Cheap Trick song?
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Or U2 perhaps?
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Yes, it's the Cheap Trick song...and it's not *bad*, but it's no Cheap Trick. It sounds like any typical garage band cover, just a little more polished.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Love Spit Love or was it something Rocket?
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Um, Cheap Trick...you know the song..."mommy's all right, daddy's all right...they just seem a little weird. Surrender. Surrender...but don't you blow yourself away!"
Si82 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 I like it. I haven't heard the original though.
notJames 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 I like Big Drill Car's cover a little better, but this one's okay. Of course, the song's such an easy pop song to cover that you'd have to either be god-awful or change it to an R-and-B song to make it suck outright. The original by Cheap Trick is, natually, the best version.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Too bad, I thought it was the classic power ballad by Trixter.

Guest JRE Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Looks like I'm the loser who thought it'd be the Ashlee Simpson song. "I like it. I haven't heard the original though." Yeah..me too.
LatinAssasin 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 I've only heard the original through commercials for Universal Studios and such. I think the cover's great, but I am a fan of the band, so I'm biased.

B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 The original by Cheap Trick is, natually, the best version. Of course. My favourite version is the Rick Neilson "angry lyrics" version with the "old maids, dykes and whores" line towards the end of the second verse. Local H also does a great cover of "Surrender." I heard them do it a couple of times on Mancow's radio show in chicago.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 My favorite line from the song is "I got my Kiss records out." Awesome. "We're all alright! We're all alright! Hello, Wisconsin!"
