Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 They'd better get going. After the last game, I won't count them down until it's over, but at this point, there's a very real chance this series will be finished tomorrow.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Jesus. 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. This is not the team that won 96 games and just never gave up and kept clawing till the end. What is wrong here?? Someone needs to remind Furcal that he goes to jail on Monday if they don't step it up

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Good to see Chipper getting it done at both sides. It's time for everyone to become Cardinals fans. If I can do it, so can you.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 It's time for everyone to become Cardinals fans. If I can do it, so can you. I can't I wanted an Atlanta-St Louis NLCS If it's Houston-St Louis in the NLCS, I won't watch. Period.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 I will, but I'll keep rooting hardcore for the Cards. I think the Stros are the only team in all of baseball I truly despise. All these bandwagon fans of theirs both me, too. This downsouth, hick atmosphere is going to be tough to stomach for too much longer.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 I'm rooting for the Red Sox if the Braves lose today and tomorrow. Man- if I was awake I'd be screaming a lot and probably breaking something something.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Man- if I was awake I'd be screaming a lot and probably breaking something something. Don't worry I'm doing it for you. I just paid 10$ for the audio pass so I could listen to this game. (crys)
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 As a Cubs fan, the Sox winning it all would be too bittersweet, so I'm busting out a curveball and getting behind the Cards. They've played great ball all season and deserve to take it all. Hopefully they'll capitalize and make short work of everyone they face this postseason. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 I hate the Yankees with a passion so living in NY I always get into Boston v. NY. It'd be nice to see Boston FINALLY beat the Yankees and go on to win the World Series. I just can't get into the Cards.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 The Cardinals I can accept because I was a huge Ozzie Smith fan.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 I know the Braves are business like and don't panic and are always cool calm and collected... but seriously- Now is the time to panic and get desperate. It doesn't seem to work as the past two years have shown them to just be lacadasial and just go down meekly at the end. I don't know what to do but Cox or someone (Chipper?) needs to fire this team up and just get them pumped up and ready to win. Enough of this shit. Let's try to put something together and at least make it interesting and tomorrow go out and do something. Just play like this game means everything. Cause too many times it seems like they don't realise that these games are do or die and mean everything
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 The Reds fan in me won't let me back the Cards at all So if it winds up being a Yankee-Cardinal WS, I'm done with baseball until April
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 At the beginning of the season I said if God forbid if the Braves don't win- I'd want the Cubbies or the Sox. The Cubs just because I wanted to see Maddux get another ring and the Sox cause I just want to see them finally do it.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Jesus I'm sitting here watching the Astros and figure I'll check out the thread and what do I find? A bunch of "Boo hoo, I hate the Astros I hate Minute Maid!" posts. Why the hell is there all this Astros hate? You don't like Andy or Roger for leaving the Yankees? Fine. You don't like them because you're an ATL fan? Fine. I just don't see why seemingly everyone is prefacing every post with "I hate the Astros, but...". They're not featured on ESPN (or any media outlet for that matter) every night like SOME teams. They don't pound the crap out of everyone so much you hate them just for being good. Oh, and Bob, you talk about MMP being "crazy" and should have "32-21" games all the time? Last time I checked, the Braves used to play at Fulton County Stadium. Wasn't it known as "The Launching Pad" for a reason? Oh yeah, there were quite a few games when a lot of runs were score. Now, do I like everything about MMP? Nope. I'd be just as happy as most of you if that hill in CF would disappear. I wish they'd settle on a spot for the yellow line, but MLB keeps making them change it. But this is still better than sitting 200 feet away from the field in the Astrodome watching a game go 13 innings before someone scored on an infield single, stolen base, bunt sacrifice, and a suicide squeeze. And, at least Houston sells out it's playoff games. Sorry, couldn't resist. If you all don't like this sorry I'm probably exaggerating. I'm just letting years of Astros inferiority complex get to me. Edit: And now that I see Bruiser's lovely little bullshit about Houston, I felt the need to respond. Houston may be down south, but it is far from "hick". We have more Fortune 500 companies than any city in the USA. We have a world class medical center. We have world renowned cultural centers (museums, Houston Symphony Orchestra, etc.). Houston has one of the largest shipping channels in the world. Next time you want to say something about some place, try a little research first.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 If my team had never won a playoff series in franchise history- I'd be bitter too. Fulton County was a hitters park but it was nothing like MMP. This park just looks like it'd be fun to just to hit doubles and HRs. So of course why can't the Braves do it? I don't hate the Astros but I do hate Rocket. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 To the overreactionary and aptly named "Conspiracy Victim", I hate the Astros because I'm a Reds fan (hence why I also hate the Cards) Simple as that Over reactionary? Hardly. Take a look at the thread Slayer. Quite a few, heading towards a majority of posts have said "Man I hate the Astros" to some extent or another. Last time I checked, I had just as much right to spew bullshit and venom at everyone around me as anyone. *sigh* Before this gets into an internet pissing contest (I hate those) I'll go have a beer and watch the end of the game. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Astros 8 - Andruw Jones 5.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Me to myself: Hmm we get 2 on no outs, then 2 straight strike outs, anything short of an Andruw homer here and this is more over then it already is. (Andruw hits a homerun) Me: Damn you Andruw now I have to get my interest back up for this game before it's lost in the 9th. bah.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 9, 2004 And Thomas grounds out. So now IF we can hold the damn Astros offense, we need no less then 3 runs, on 3 outs, against Lidge or Oswalt. Crap.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Andruw Jones: 1 That ball: 0 Seriously- Andruw seems to be the only one who knows what's on the line here. Those first two cuts pretty much said: I will be hitting this ball out of the park. I loved how Justice was criticising him for swinging like that and next pitch.. HOME RUN!~ Well we got the top of the order and a PH coming up next inning. Let's see if the guys counted on to produce actually come through
