Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 I'm probably a little late on these two but here goes.. 1) The last time I saw AS was when he was scolding some other NY fan on the board about jokingly offering to break out the brooms, after they won Game 3. Since Game Four he hasn't been around. 2) Cartman changed his sig and avatar COMPLETELY from Red Sox stuff to Patriots stuff. He strikes me as a fairweather fan, who latches onto a winner. He doesn't seem like the stereotypical suffering Sox fan. He just went with the Pats, because they WIN. I wonder what he's doing now. I'm glad the Sox won, all those Sox fans who doubted them and gave up after Game Three should be feeling like Benedict Arnold right now. Okay one more; 3) Banky was rubbing it in all the Sox fans' faces after Game Three, talking about last year's collapse and how it was the biggest choke in the history of the playoffs or something along those lines. I wonder if he still feels the same way now. Okay, it's really easy to point egg on a person's face in a situation like this, but when else can you mock a person for wavering feelings like when the series is seemingly over at 3-0, only to see the losing team come back to win 4-3? Oh that's right NEVER. Enjoy it while it lasts, I'm happy for the Sox, but don't get too happy now, the Curse is for the World Series, not for the Yankees. When Johnny Damon talked about partying in the post game interview, I got the idea that you guys aren't the only ones celebrating a little too much with this. It doesn't matter how historic the victory was, there's still a World Series to be played, and if you rest on your accolades for this accomplishment, while amazing, you will be regretting it come World Series time. Sure, it was just an innocent comment, but I can't be the only one who did a double take upon hearing that.

the max 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Never been prouder of a team in my life. Ever. This is what they do to you, for people here who aren't Red Sox fans. They always give you the idea that they have no shot, that they have nothing left, they always raise you up. Sometimes, they kick you back down. Then, sometimes, they bring you on their shoulders for a great moment. Go Red Sox. 4-3.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 I'm really happy to see the Red Sox do it tonight. I know that I didn't think they'd win tonight for whatever reason, but it's obvious by a 10-3 ballgame that the Yankees were finished after Schilling schooled them last night. How many people seriously thought they could do this after game 3 when they got killed 19-8? It's stunning, the amount of blind faith it would take to still believe in your team when they're down 0-3. You know what's tragic, sad, and amusing all at once? The Sox will be so insanely spent from this series that there's no way in hell they'll win the World Series. And thus, the curse will continue in the cruelest way possible. Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Despite his MCCARVER MOMENT!~ of, after Kenny Albert talked about ex-Bruin Eddie Westfall winning the game for the Islanders, 'You know Eddie Westfall played for the Boston Bruins' hilarity, he does get props for pointing out Brown and Vasquez' combined MONEY performance. So maybe trading Jeff Weaver WASN'T the answer?

KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 The final out was recorded just minutes into my birthday. Greatest birthday present ever. To quote Vin Scully: "I can't believe what I just saw!!" Johnny Damon is resurrected, DEREK LOWE puts in a quality start (he might have kept his job, or just earned himself a bit more coin on the FA market), and the Yankees fans were out of it from the start. Fantastic. I can't WAIT to see the NY papers tomorrow. And regarding the WS: You DO know that the NLCS is going to a game 7 as well, and the Sox will have one extra day of rest. It should be a damn good series, Cards or 'Stros. Wow.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Yeah, I know the NLCS is going 7 as well but that series is more of a regular baseball series. It's more just two decent teams holding serve and winning games at their house. Incidentally, I hope to God that the Cardinals win that tomorrow. Seeing Wild Card vs. Wild Card in the World Series would make me puke. The Astros finished 13 games behind the Cardinals this year, they have absolutely no business being in the WS over them. Cardinals have actually always won a series they trailed 3-2 in, and we know the Astros record at closing out a series. Besides, Cardinals vs. Red Sox...how much cooler and old school does it get than that?
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 To quote Vin Scully: "I can't believe what I just saw!!" I thought it was Jack Buck it was Um.....oops? And I have to admit something: I gave up after game 3. I didn't even want to watch game 4 after the 19-8 loss. I just wanted the Yankees to end it (read my post from after that game). So I'd like to apologize to the Nation for losing the faith. What a fucking rollercoaster ride this series was. It tops last year's, not only because I was laying in bed in Miami with jet lag watching Boone's homer fly out, but it was THE, not possibly, THE greatest comeback in the history of American professional sports. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 This is beyond great. I said in this very thread when the sox were down 0-3, in fact I guaranteed my life, that the Red Sox would complete the greatest comeback ever. Fuck the bambino, he was nothing but a fat, overbearing, womanizing drunkard, who could hit a baseball.

Guest Brian Report post Posted October 21, 2004 God, there was never a curse. Boston suffered because it should of. Racist owners. Stadium that got the team investing in offense. Boston created it's own curse, it's not something caused by some fat man or a missed ground ball.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Uh the Red Sox finally beating the Yanks when it's on the line after 500 tries does not breaking the curse make. Now if it's the 'face' Red Sox beating the 'heel' Yankees and this is WWE (in theory), sure.
