WWE 24/7

Guest Trivia247

Forget the history just plug in actual ECW 2 hour events, like they would with prime time wrestling or Main event etc

From what I understand...only Pennsylvania right now..?

I'm right outside Philly, so I guess I will have to look into this. The 24/7 site doesn't list where it is available however.

WWE 24.7 is a bit away from being on your TV screen. It could be 4 months, 6 months, or a year away. Right now they are in the testing phases, and that will probably go for about 3 months. Then there is convincing cable companies to carry it, advertise it well in advance, and actually making sure they have the ability to carry it out nationally. And if they find there isn't sufficient demand for it, then the price could go up dramatically.

This could be make or break for the WWE, so if they're smart they'll take all the time they need to get it right.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? If they find out everyone does want it...the price would go up. I can't see why they would raise the price if not as many people as they thought it would...wants it?

It's about balancing revenue with costs. Right now, their $7 price tag is pretty fucking cheap, especially considering that there people like Dames who would spend a lot more for it. So it's not a price thing. If they see that demand for WWE 24/7 is low, they could jack it up to $20 and still keep the potential customer base/hardcore fans (well, there would be drop off, but I imagine it would't be significant). They have to be able to cover their initial costs in the start-up, so for the first 6 months-year the price would be high. Then, hoping for word of mouth to spread and continued advertising and promotion, and lower cost of production, they drop the price.

The lower price thing is probably more for cable companies than anythings else. It may be hard to convince some of these companies that they (the WWE) have fans who would spend $20 a month for old wrestling shows, and if that were the case, then no one would carry WWE 24/7. It would be much easier for them to sell $7, which is probably the median rate anyways (most channels up here are like 3 bucks a month).

Much like the WWE today, WWE 24/7 would be about lowering costs. Since they don't have to produce (a lot of) original programming and they have an in-house production facility, the main cost would be deveoping and maintaining the film librar, as well as sharing the income with cable companies (how would that work?).

Think about it this way. Wresting fans have been paying $35 a month for 3 hours of PPV, meanwhile, for a month of classic footage, which includes old PPV's in its entirety, they'll be charging less than that.

If WWE really gets this thing to be successful, they'd be in a prime position to demand a high contract from the other networks and companies or else they can always just run their shows exclusively on their channel...kinda like the YES network. And they make DOUGH.

If watching Lex Luger vs JJJ is what gets Paul Bearers rocks off, he's not a mortician, he's a frigging sadist.

I've got it on my Dig...

I haven't planned on taping anything yet (VHS), but if anyone *really* wants anything specific I can.

I live in the same area (South Jersey, if anybody wonders/cares) and I was wondering which cable provider you have it on? Thanks.

That is probably one of the top 5 dullest matches in Coliseum Video history. Even Monsoon is bored out of his mind. He cites Luger possibly coming off an international trip for his lack of effort . . . well he puts it more eloquently than that.

Well, I emailed Comcast:

Will WWE 24/7 be added to Comcast Digital Cable On Demand

service? This channel is currently available as a pay service on several

cable providers in the country. I greatly anticipate its arrival on

Comcast Digital Cable Montgomery County. Please consider adding it, if

you have not and I look forward to a response on the timeframe of its

availability. Thank you.

And here's the response I got:

Thank you for contacting Comcast Cable of Montgomery County regarding

the addition of WWE to the Comcast line-up.  Currently, that channel is

unavailable in your area.

Our goal is to provide a wide choice of quality cable networks and local

broadcast channels reflecting the diverse programming interests of our

customers.  In addition to requests from customers, the following

factors play a part in our decision making process:

* FCC regulations, such as requirements to carry all local broadcast

channels

* Requirement by local broadcasters to carry their affiliated cable

networks

* The number of access channels required by local government

* Customer satisfaction with networks carried in other systems

* Customer satisfaction with similar networks

* Importance of the network to our diverse community

* Level of interest across a percentage of our customer base

* Per-subscriber programming fees charged by the network versus the

value added to the line-up

(Digital Systems Only)

As you may know, we have been investing millions of dollars in new

technology to increase the channel capacity of the system through

digital technology.  So an additional factor in launching new channels

is whether or not a particular network is available in the digital

format.

What this all means is that we take all requests for new networks very

seriously, and that we carefully consider the overall impact of adding

each network.  While we cannot honor every request, we do take each

request into consideration in planning future changes to the line-up.

Sincerely,

Jackie

I just called Time Warner cable in Dayton, they don't have the channel yet and no info, but the tech said she'd bring it up as a request at the next meeting and to check back later on. I'm confident they'll pick it up soon.

^^^ If so, you have to hook a Clevelander up w/ some MSG/SNME goodness. :D

I'll settle for the MSG goodness, especially if shows are complete.

I also emailed Comcast this week and received a similar response, although one that didn't seem as cookie cutter.

Hello.  It has come to my attention that some cable providers in

Pennsylvania (see below) are offering a new startup digital

subscription channel called WWE 24/7 - pretty much a 24 hour pro wrestling channel. I am interested in finding out if there is any possibility of Comcast

offering this channel in the near future.  I would very much subscribe

to such a channel and several of my friends are also interested.  Thank

you for your time.

---------------------

PWInsider.com Elite Member Chris Catanese sent word that WWE 24/7 is

already available on his cable provider, Blue Ridge Cable, in

Pennsylvania for $6.95 a month.

Thank you for contacting Comcast Cable.

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us in reference to WWE On

Demand.  We appreciate your feedback.

At this time, Comcast does not currently offer WWE On Demand. We

apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  This is a very new

service and we are looking into the possibility of bringing this to our

subscribers.

It is important for us to know which networks appeal to our customers.

Our Marketing department works diligently to offer customers the

broadest range of choices and the best mix of programming services

possible.

I have forwarded your request to our Marketing department for review.

While we are not able to accommodate every request, we take each

request into careful consideration and use this information when adding

networks to our line-ups and to our Video On Demand services!

Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions.

Sincerely,

Valerie
