Ever been pulled over for speeding?

Recommended Posts

I got pulled over coming home from college a couple years ago doing 80 in a 65. I'd been pulled over on back roads before, but never on the highway. My first inclination was to pull over to the closest side available, which, in my case, was the left side.

Cop came up and gave my all kinds of shit for speeding, pulling over to the wrong side (I explained why I did), etc... He asks for my license, so I give him my license and my magic Fraternal Order of Police card.

He sits in his car for about 5 minutes, then comes back and says he's only going to give me a warning because he doesn't want to stay parked on that side of the highway for very long for fear of being killed.

Wrong side of the highway? Sounds like the right side to me.

Got pulled over once for doing the stupidist thing- I sped around a guy who would not turn off his fucking blinker, and as soon as I pass the fucker I see the cop at the top of the hill. So what do I do?

I hit the breaks. And get a ticket.

Moral of the story- if you do speed past a cop, never hit the breaks unless they pull you over.

Of course, the first time I was pulled over was the best- I was taking home two girls from an all-nighter working with my theater group at school. It was 2:30 in the morning, both of the girls are 15, I was 17 and driving in my old '72 Skylark. So a cop pulls me over, and gives me the bullshit line that my plates weren't registered. Then tells me that I'm out past curfew. Both which struck me as funny, as I thought you registered your plates when you put the little sticker on it each year, and I was old enough that the curfew, which I didn't even know existed, didn't apply to me. I explain what was going on to the cop, and he lets me go with a warning.

What a nice guy.

First time -- 17 years old, allegedly went through a Stop sign past midnight. Had to take a lush test. Passed because I didn't drink. Still got a fine.

Second time -- 17 years old again, sped. Can't remember how fast I was going, but I deserved it.

Third time -- 19 years old, illegal U-Turn. Did it in front of the cop, but didn't see him becuase it was pitch black outside.

Fourth time -- 19 years old, went through yellow light. Pulled over and got a warning.

Haven't been pulled over by the po-pos since, which has been 10 years...

Guest Horse hockey!

Been pulled over twice. First was for speeding, 65 in a 50, even though there was no one on the road at 4am. Didn't get a chance to explain anything, though I wouldn't have been able to say anything, I was dumbfounded. Got a $132 ticket that I couldn't fight because I was just passing through. Had out of state plates, I think that's what did it. My dad was also pulled over in the same state, got a ticket, no remorse from WV state troopers. I cried after the fact, but I don't think it would have worked if I had cried while I was pulled over, female cop.

Second, I was on the on ramp onto the highway, and the lady in front of me was doing maybe 35 mph, and the speed limit on the highway is 70 mph. So I have my mom's fast little Grand Am, I looked back as we got to a section that I could see over the bridge, didn't see anyone, so I gunned it and shot into the left lane as soon as I could to get around the stupid lady doing 35 on an on ramp. Blaze of white shoots by my driver side window, look in front of me and it's a county trooper. I almost ran him off the highway. I pulled into the flow of traffic at 70 mph and tried to hide, he pulled me over. I must have looked like I was about to burst into tears, because I was. He asked me if I knew what I had done, and I said 'yes sir, I'm sorry, I didn't see you'.. no written warning, no ticket. I balled all the way to work.

Can't say I don't speed anymore, but definitely not as bad as I used to (95 in a 70, yeah that grey flash was me).

Well I was pulled out of my car at gunpoint once by about 8 officers, and 5 squad cars. It was just a mixup, as my mom bought a new car, I bought her current car from her. She sent in the DMV paperwork, I switched the plates. At the time I worked until 2:00am in the morning. It was a friday. I was driving myself and a friend to Dennys for some late night eatin' Cop pulls behind me, puts on one of those lights by his window. I have no idea WTF that means, so I pull over a bit thinking he just wants to pass me. Since I was right there by Dennys, I pull into the parking lot. I see him pull in behind me, more urgently. I figure I am getting pulled over for speeding or something.(never have been pulled over EVER) So I left everything on, until I hear the cop shouting, "Driver, do this this and this" I comply of course, which turned into me getting out of the car on my knees, laying on my stomach, and sliding on the gound backwards to the cops. I wasn't scared or anything cause I knew it was a mixup from the start, but they had me and my friend lay on the cold concrete for a long time and kept saying "if you move we will release the dogs" At which point we were shivering because it was december, and we were hoping our "shivering" wouldn't be considered moving.

Anyways, we get cuffed, information is run, phone calls are made.....mixup is cleared, we are uncuffed, and let go, no ticket, no warning, nothing.

Throughout the process some lady started badgering the cops about leaving us "poor boys alone" and "I demand to know what you are holding them for, it is my right as a citizen" Meanwhile we have no idea who this lady is.....lol.

We ended up eating at Dennys. Meatlovers skillet.

Pulled over twice, ticketed once.

First Offense: A California Roll with a cop looking right at me. I see the cop on the side of the road, got a bit jumpy, and inadvertently rolled halfway through. Let off with a warning.

Second Offense: "Going over 5 MPH on a right turn on a red light". I slow down just enough to see absolutely nobody is coming then turn onto the freeway on-ramp only to be pulled over in a matter of seconds by the cop behind me. I thought it was a bullshit call, but still lost the battle on my appeal to get my first ticket ever. Fun to note that they racially profiled me as a Hispanic.

I've learned that keeping pace behind a cop car is a decent way to avoid speeding tickets.

Pulled over four times, ticketed once.

First: Age 19, pulled over for going 71 in a 45. I freely admit I was speeding, but I KNOW I wasn't going that fast. My spedometer never got above 63-64. I got the speed reduced and got a fine, plus probation before judgment.

Second: Age 23, going 63 in a 50. I saw the cop sitting under a bridge at night, but apparently, I crested the hill going too fast (saw her once I came over the hill).

Third: 2 years ago, age 28, going 37 in a 20 on Post. I hadn't been down that road in more than a year (the exit gate near there had been closed ever since 9/11, and was only open because of roadwork near the main gate), and didn't know the speed limit had dropped from 35 to 20. Warning.

Fourth: 1 year ago, age 29, going 66 in a 55. Again, I saw the cop well in advance, but she must have had some long-distance speed-sniffing stuff. Warning.

Each time, I was polite and courteous, and the only dickhead cop I had was the first one who pulled me over.

Pulled over once (sort of twice), ticketed 0 times.

First time, I was driving home from my girlfriend's house at night and she had pissed me off, and I forgot to turn my lights on. Pulled the "Yes, sir. No, sir." routine and the cop said, "Yeah, it's pretty well lighted out here, I can see where you wouldn't know you didn't have them on. It might've hurt you up ahead though" and gave me a warning, a smile, and a good night.

Second time, my girlfriend was driving (first week driving) and she took a turn way too fast and spun out onto a grassy field. She freaks out and I get in the driver's seat and start to drive off, but a motorcycle cop comes over to my window and starts giving me shit. "Brakes locked up, sir." He gives me some shit about how he KNOWS I was driving too fast, due to his impeccable knowledge of the length and breadth of skid marks (which he had barely even looked at). So I apologized and said I misjudged the turn. He drives off with a scowl. Dickhead.

Warning.

Belvoir? I thought I remember you saying you were from the DC area...

I was driving home from a party out of town and a cop pulled me over for doing 90 in a 70 zone. He was cool though and only gave me the 80 ticket.

And I was burning out so I was lucky I didn't get busted for that too.

About four months after I got my first car, I was pulled over for doing 135 in a 100 zone. The cop was nice enough to bump it down to 115 so I didn't get any demerits.

Only other time was a night I was driving home from Montreal after an Expos game, and got pulled over because they thought my high beams were on in a residential neighbourhood. Dumb fucks.

Nope. I'm a good hour outside of DC, actually. That happened on the Edgewood Post of APG. I now work on the main Post of APG, where the speed limits are higher,

BUMP!

One year later.

I guess I'll finish this story.

I got out of the ticket, and shortly after I got out of it, it was announced that they were cracking down on getting tickets fixed.

:(

Oh well.

Yes, Max. North Attleboro cops ARE stupid. But at least they're not the complete pricks that Plainville cops are.

I've been pulled over once, and it was coming back from Framingham in Holliston on 126. The NECW show that night got out about 45 minutes later than it usually does (a double main-event of a WarGames match an a TLC-Squared match, the latter of which went on forever), and it was around 11 at night when I dropped my ex-girlfriend off at her house. It's about a 45-minute drive from Framingham to Franklin, so I'm going the speed limit through downtown Framingham and the parts of Ashland that 126 is on, the latter of which is 45

HOWEVER, once you hit Holliston the speed limit goes from 45 to 35 to 40, all within half a mile of each other. I look at my clock, it's 11:15, and I have to be at work the next morning at 6am, so I'm like "well, whatever, I'm slowing down a bit but the 40mph sign is just a hundred feet ahead, and I'll be at 45 when I hit it." Haha, yeah. I'm 42 or 43 in the 40 zone, and I pull off onto High St. Car behind me follows me. I stop at the stop sign and go down the street a little bit, and the car still follows me. Lights, I pull over immediately. Cop decides to pull me over for going 50 in a 35 (which I was for about a second before I started slowing down, so I figured the guy just had a slow day).

Both hands on the wheel, got out my license and registration when he asked for them. He asks why I'm speeding, and I go "because I'm coming from Framingham heading back to Franklin, and I've got to be awake to go to work in 6 hours." Guy asks what I was doing in Framingham, I tell him I was at the NECW show at the Civic League, and he goes back to his car after asking me if I had a record (which I didn't). Comes back, hands me my license and registration, and just explains to me that I'm getting a verbal warning because my record's clean and he could understand why I was speeding (the urge to get home so I could be up for work, and the lack of cars on the road), but to not do it again. When this happens, some guy in an SUV speeds past us, honking their horn. Cop looks up at him and goes "fucking asshole," then lets me off.

I'm about 40-50 feet up the road, going the speed limit of 25, and the lights flash again. I'm just like "what the fuck, I ain't speeding," and pull over...cop goes right by me.

Further down the road just outside of downtown Holliston, I see the same cop pulling over the same SUV, and the cop's yelling at him as he's walking towards the car. I let out a small laugh, turn my stereo up, and drive the speed limit home.

One and only time I've been pulled over.

I've been pulled over five times. Two tickets.

First: 16 years old and two days after I got my license. I'm not even sure why I got pulled over. It wasn't speeding, I know that. Only a warning.

Second: 17 years old doing 68 in a 40. Just me daydreaming while driving. I got out of the ticket as it was my first offense and I was still a student. I did have to go to traffic school for two hours one night, but that was nothing.

Third: 17 again. Pulled over for doing 60ish in a 45. Same reason. Just a warning.

Fourth. 18 years old. 40ish in a school zone. Again with the daydreaming. Cop didn't pull me over insomuch as he flagged me down to yell at me. Just a warning. I made his pizza everyweek, so he was kind of nice to me....

Fifth: 18 and doing 89 in a 65. Trying to make it from Tennessee to Illinois in under 6 hours. The ticket was in Illinois, so I just mailed it in after I got home.

I got pulled over a few days ago and got off with a warning, but even though I got pulled over for "speeding", I'm pretty sure the real reason, I got pulled over was for suspected DUI.

As soon as he found out I was sober (for a change, thank god), he just let me off with a warning.

This past January I was caught by a speed trap, 50 in a 35. $180.50 ticket, which would've been doubled since workers were supposed to be present that day but weren't.

I didn't feel like going through the hassle of court bullshit, so I did the online class (okay, that was a hassle) and kept the points off my license. The class was also supposed to reduce my ticket price, but the reduction wasn't even enough to cover the cost of the class itself, so it didn't help much.

First time: 50 in a 35; warning ticket

Second time: Spinning donuts in a country elementary school parking lot at like 2 a.m.; no ticket, just a warning

Third time: Speeding, 70 in a 55, ticket and 100 dollar fine

Fourth time: Speeding, 60 in a 45, ticket and same

Fifth time: Forgot to turn my lights on, I had been parked and had my parking lights on, also forgot my license at home, no ticket, just warnings

Sixth time: For having HALF of my fucking back windshield brake light out. I had both my tail brake lights and the back still lit up, never realized it was half burned out or that you could get pulled for that shit.

Seventh time: Expired license sticker by a couple days, warning ticket.

Haven't been pulled in almost two years, which is good considering I got pulled over seven times in a span of a year and a half.

Also, the rabbit method seems to work pretty well, I don't really speed anymore, guess it comes with maturity.
