Gene Snitsky... the next big monster.

I was looking at Scott Keith's review of RAW and he said Gene Snitsky may be the next big monster on RAW. Now I know no one gives a fuck about Scott Keith's opinion on this board, but he did make me think. After he destroyed Kane last night, is Gene Snitsky the new big monster on RAW? Or is there someone else like Batista?

The guy's awesome. He may suck in the ring but he ENTERTAINS me and that's all that matters in the end.

 

His promos are serious but always make me laugh, he has a great catchphrase and what he did to Kane last night made me feel like a new star had been born.

 

The only match I wanted to see last night (unless Benoit won) was Snitsky v. Kane.

 

The guy entertains me and I enjoy watching him on TV

Who are you to say what is "good" or not good, to some body else? The guy entertains alot of us, if he doesn't entertain you, that is fine. But don't knock the guys that mark for him.

Although I did throw Shane in there, I don't think it was bad Snitsky won. They need new faces and new heels. Kane is going to make a movie, so someone needs to be there. While I don't agree with the angle, I think it is good to have someone new and fresh and makes it more interesting when it was someone with no hype. He came out of nowhere, figured to be a squash guy and now he is a top heel. Surprising? Yes, but I enjoy that element.

As they should because he's terrible. I don't know why he's even on TV, let alone winning PPV matches over someone like Kane. It's just...sad.

 

I don't know how over he is either. ANYONE could've got heat coming out with that baby carriage. We'll see how over he is on the next Raw...since he's fresh off a PPV win over Kane.

 

There's so much more deserving talent on the roster. Why bring up some green bastard with no "look" and push him like he's good (when he's not even decent)?

Maybe not desirable, but it at least it sets him apart from the rest of the OVW bunch. It's sad when you think about it, but in the short time he's been on Raw, Snitsky's probably more recognizable than both members of La Resistance, and they've been tag champs for months (not that that really means anything anymore).

 

As far as the push goes...I've got mixed feelings. On one hand, if it works and he gets over, that's great, because as others have stated, that's one more fresh face thrown into the mix. On the other hand, after all of the bullshit we've heard over the years about how the cream always rises to the top in WWE, for someone like him to basically walk off the street and get the push that he's getting is really a slap in the collective face of a locker room full of people who have been working their asses off for years to little or no reward.

Oh he sucks in the ring- but he made me care about his match with Kane. And that takes a lot of effort. He entertains me- that's simply why I like him.

I disagree. I like his promos about killing Lita's baby and all that. I laugh in the sense that I go 'I can't believe he said that'. I really wanted to see Kane destroy him and kick his ass. The feud drew me in.

It's fun to hear because everytime he says it I laugh and it makes me want to see this feud continue. I missed RAW on Monday and the only thing I wanted to catch on the replay was Snitsky.

 

I don't know if it makes him more desirable to the average viewer but my friend who I watch wrestling with loves the Snitsky stuff and always trys to catch him.

 

The catchphrase is short, simple and easy to say.

I wanted to see it b/c I found the feud interesting and I wanted to see what would happen when the two guys would wrestle. I had no idea who would win and how and that appealed to me. I kind of wanted to see Kane murder him and get revenge but I also wanted to see what Snitsky could do against the Big Red Machine. I didn't expect a ***** classic, but I enjoyed the match as did the people in the bar I was chatting with.

 

I'm not saying you have to like him but don't look down on people who do. I really want to see what happens when Kane comes back. And that rarely happens these days.

I don't mind the Snitsky push. Right now he's in the realm of "cult favorite", probably because he put an end to an absurdly bad storyline. They'll still need some work to sell him as a major part of the show, IMO.

 

Slightly off-topic, but am I the only one who thinks the Sean O'Haire evil preacher gimmick would have been perfect for this Lita/Kane deal? He could have targeted them for her becoming pregnant out of wedlock, they do the miscarriage deal, and O'Haire tells them that "no good would have come of that bastard child...but hey, I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know."

The reason the guy's over at all is because he's different than all of the other bland "superstars" who've been forced down our throats as of late (see Orton, Randy), and that - coupled with the so insanely awful pregnancy / miscarriage angle - made him something of a guilty pleasure / cult favorite. Of course, now that the WWE has caught onto whatever amount of popularity he does possess, they're going to run him into the ground and in probably three weeks time we'll all be sick of him.

 

BTW, does this guy even have a contract? I figured he started out as just some local indy jobber, but has he somehow managed to luck out with a development contract?

I would hope so considering that he has a pay-per-view victory over a former WWE Champion in Kane.

He was hired by WWE and sent to OVW this past summer, working there as "Mean" Gene Mondo, the "baby brother" of OVW wrestler Mike Mondo (who is extremely similar in look/size to Crash Holly). Mike's actually gonna be on HEAT against Rodney Mack this week, according to the taping results.
