JJMc 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2004 I love this movie. I think it gets overlooked at times, but it really is an excellent mob picture. I watched it the other night, and I noticed something that I never noticed before. Lefty gets sent for at the end because Donnie ended up being a rat. I always thought that everything ended up ok because in the scene where the agents show the crew pictures of Donnie with the FBI, Sonny says something like "they almost had me going," as if to say that he didn't believe Donnie was a rat. Did he do this just to put Lefty's mind at ease, if only for the moment? One other thing... In one of the final scenes, when Lefty gets the call, we see his girlfriend drying her hair and them saying goodbye to eachother. She looks less ditzy than in past scenes and calls him "Ben" instead of "Benny." Is there something to this? Or am I just looking too far into it? 1234-5678 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2004 Just so you're aware, in real life, "Lefty" didn't get sent for, I think he just went to jail. You can Google "Joe Pistone" or "Donnie Brasco" to be sure though. It's definitely a great flick, especially how Depp's character changes and becomes more like the Mob he is infiltrating. Also, Pacino's performance as Lefty...........just one of my favorite characters of all time. Michael Madsen is great as usual too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The DVD is only about $10, which makes it an easy recommendation to anybody who is a fan of the genre. In my opinion, the "fuhgetabouit" scene alone makes the movie worth watching at least once. converge241 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2004 great movie i lend it out to people i know if i hear they havent seen it i think sonny was partly putting lefty at ease and partly really didnt want to belive it himself either cause sonny gets behind donnie quicker and gives him more power than lefty did ..granted lefty put his heart into donnie pacino just kills me in the movie the whole process of him getting the tacky greeting card and then tearing it up (minus the cnote of course) a lot of people like to dismiss it as just another mob movie and/or ramble on/quote the fugghedaboutit scene but the movie is so much more than that Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
