ABC News has Terror Warning Tape?

ABCNEWS HOLDS TERROR WARNING TAPE

**Exclusive**

In the last week before the election, ABCNEWS is holding a videotaped message from a purported al Qaeda terrorist warning of a new attack on America, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The terrorist claims on tape the next attack will dwarf 9/11. "The streets will run with blood," and "America will mourn in silence" because they will be unable to count the number of the dead. Further claims: America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Al Qaeda.

ABCNEWS strongly denies holding the tape back from broadcast over political concerns during the last days of the election.

The CIA is analyzing the tape, a top federal source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.

ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Waziristan, Pakistan over the weekend, sources tells DRUDGE.

"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning, dismissing a claim that ABC was planning to air portions of the video during Monday's WORLD NEWS TONIGHT.

The terrorist's face is concealed by a headdress, and he speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual.

US intelligence officials believe the man on tape may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman, a California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.

According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.

The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'

"The video tape appears to be from al-Qaeda's media liaison organization. It has a banner crediting the Sahab Production Committee. The speaker refers to Bin Ladin and Zawahiri as "our leaders" and praises the 11 September attacks. The video appears to have been made in the past several months based on the speaker's discussion of the conflict in Darfur, the 9/11 Commission and other recent events.... Developing... "

Al-Qaeda has a media liaison organization?

Despite Teke's cheap shot, yes, al Qaida has both a media liason organization and a public relations organization within it. If you're interested on reading about al Qaida's structure, I suggest picking up the 9/11 Commission Report. It's fascinating to read about the group's organization and whatnot.

NBC reports out Drudge's 'terror tape' mumbojumbo and adds some helpful debunking details ...

U.S. officials told NBC News that the tape included now-standard militant Islamist rhetoric promising widespread destruction inside the United States. The man cannot be identified, the officials said, because his face is covered by a headdress.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said ABC gave the CIA a complete copy of the tape Monday. They described analysts’ concern as “low” because it is not clear that the tape was recorded recently and because the man on the tape, who speaks in what appears to be an American accent, mentions no details.

“It’s unclear what this tape is — even whether the person on the tape is an American,” one of the officials said.

I love that the Dems are openly writing college newspapers, peddling fear:

Draft unavoidable if Bush re-elected

President Bush may or may not have a secret plan to reinstate the draft. But this is beside the point. The deteriorating facts on the ground in Iraq, plus the Bush doctrine of acting pre-emptively and unilaterally against hostile regimes, will soon leave him no choice. If he is re-elected, he will have to restart the draft.

We do not have enough people in uniform to meet current needs in Iraq and Afghanistan, much less to deal with a confrontation with Iran or North Korea. Morale is suffering. Enlistments and re-enlistments are down. The Army National Guard fell 10 percent short of its 2004 recruiting goal.

What if all-out civil war breaks out in Iraq? What if a newly re-elected Bush decides to act pre-emptively against Iran, Syria, or North Korea? Where would he get the manpower to pacify Iraq while pursuing the next phases of his doctrine of pre-emptive, unilateral war? There is only one viable option: a reinstated draft.

Don't expect the president to acknowledge this before Election Day. When President Lyndon Johnson was running for election in 1964, voters were afraid that he had a secret plan to escalate the war in Vietnam. He denied it, repeatedly promising, "I will not send American boys halfway around the world to do a job that Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves." Johnson was re-elected. Millions of American boys were drafted and sent halfway around the world to Vietnam. More than 17,000 of those draftees got killed in combat.

So Americans today have good reasons to fear the return of the draft. George W. Bush may have avoided the draft when he was a young man. But if re-elected, he will not be able to avoid the draft as president.

So, I guess Clinton unintentionally endorsed electing Bush with his speech yesterday.

Where the hell did that come from? Talk about off topic.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread. And since the point was fear-mongering rhetoric, it actually fits perfectly.
