CNN Live projections

Recommended Posts

794 of 827 precincts - 96 percent

  John Thune Rep 190,817 - 51 percent

  Tom Daschle (i) Dem 182,407 - 49 percent

Bye, Tom...  Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

You know what'd be hilarious --- this was mentioned on NRO --- what if Daschle loses?

Who becomes Senate Minority leader? Edwards? Kerry? Clinton?

Imagine if Kerry didn't get the slot.

Harry Reid of Nevada from what I'm hearing...

What the hell is CNN waiting for? Bush won the state.

Nobody wants to put Bush over the top.

You can also call this the MSM's dance of death. Their cred is dead and when their guy lost, they are unable to deal with it.

Tensions are going to be high tomorrow. It's best not to do anything stupid like publically scream about Bush's victory or paste Bush bumper stickers along your entire hallway. Obviously, if you do, you're only asking for trouble.

Oh c'mon, most Democrats can't fight.

I probably have to write an article today for class. My plan is to try to bargain an easy article, go and sleep till 1 or 2 and then throw something together.

How was your party Slapnuts? I'm very happy that we probably won- I just want this OVER.

It was pretty awesome. Why buy drinks (especially when you're not of age), when Bill Lee's team has a warroom stocked with beer, wine, vodka and everything in between that needs to GO GO GO!!! B-)

It was held at a Hilton hotel, and we filled the lobby and party rooms. And had the TVs on the whole time. As I said, our local elections went really poorly so it was somber at first, we a lot of concession speeches and tears, but once Bush started gaining momentum, there would be huge cheers. Once he had 269, it was like being at a wrestling show or something with everything chanting "ONE MORE STATE!" or "4 MORE YEARS" "DACHLE SUCKS" and everything in between. Tremendous fun. My group was some of the few fateful to stick around, but once it hit 2:30, we figured we'd head back.

Christ... Bush's lead just went up to 140,000.

I think that the remaining precincts are in areas like Dayton, which means that Kerry is officially fucked.

That big Bush lead in Ohio is just NOT going away.

At this point, with the number of provisional ballots out there (anywhere from 125k to 140k), Kerry would have to win ALL of them to even have a prayer of making it close (and even that is futile, given that not all of the provisional ballots will likely be declared valid).

If it didn't mean a further loss of face overseas, I'd ENCOURAGE Kerry to do this...

It would be the first step in taking the Democratic party out of power and letting some new faction arise in its place.

Since I got nothing else to do, I guess I might as well ask: why do you not like the Democrats THAT much?

I am disgusted with the youth of this country who pretended to care about the election. At least in past elections they didn't even act like they cared and could be counted on not to show up at the polls. I dunno if it was just media fascination and assumption or what, but the youth definately didn't keep their word.

I'm sleep deprived, had too much to drink and have no voice left, but am proudly wearing my "W is STILL the President!" sticker and am planning to line the dorms with the rest of the stickers...

Hopefully you won't later whine in Czech's thread that people treat you so terribly simply because you're a Republican.

Republicans got what they wanted with what looks to be a Bush victory. It's useless to rub it in the face of Democrats, simply because it will only do its part to divide the country even further.

We took so much shit from fellow students and our proffesors (politely though), and even citizens (a voter told a girl working with us, wearing a Bush shirt, that "I hope Bush burns in hell".) This is OUR night, if anyone wants to fight us, we'll fight back, we're loaded and won't back down! B-)

This is beyond logic. This isn't nearly as close as Florida.

The votes have been counted. There are doubts that there are even enough provisional votes to cover that gap.

This is done. There is no argument for it. They are just looking for ratings now.

It's over, Ohio officials have said at best it's 142,000 provisional ballots. Even with 200,000 Kerry can't win Ohio.

I will speak for myself, and state that the Democratic Party, starting in 2000, showed a willingness to do whatever it takes --- no matter how much it hurts the country --- to get what they want.

You sound shocked. I could've told you that.

Easy to get pot-addled college kids to register at a concert. Good luck getting them to vote.

I never said I agreed with the Dems threatening to sue over the votes in Ohio. Unless they have solid proof that some shady things went down in Ohio or Florida, they really should just drop the case and stop delaying the inevitable.

I just find it ironic that some Conservatives here are calling for Kerry to admit defeat in order to unify the country under George W. Bush, yet are having fun by mocking both the liberals on this board and the liberals they converse with on a daily basis. How could you honestly say you want the country to now be united under the Bush administration, yet do your best to taunt the liberals that just went through a tough loss tonight? This only raises tensions even further!

Either you're sincere with your thoughts that you want the political divisions in this country to be dissolved for the good of every American - which would mean you would drop the childish taunting of Democrats - or you would much rather be an asshole, happy to bother people that are already depressed enough - which would mean the "country unifying" line is a crock of shit. You can't have it both ways.

Supposedly, it could be around 300k.

There's no possible way there's 300k of those things floating around out there. The Kerry people haven't even said that unless they're inflating the number to stir shit up. Ohio Officials are saying no more than 150k.

Could there be a bigger waste of time then complaining about the division between the two major parties? I mean it's only been going on, what, since the beginning of this country?

Fuck this, I am registering as a Whig.

They're not going to. The MSM won't call a final state for Bush, either.

As opposed to what the libs have done to us?

How could you honestly say you want the country to now be united under the Bush administration, yet do your best to taunt the liberals that just went through a tough loss tonight? This only raises tensions even further!

If you're nice, I'll be nice. If you pull this "He's not my President" crap, then you deserve to get a new asshole torn. If your prof treated you like shit for voting for Bush, then fuck his/her feelings.

The left doesn't want to unite. THEY were the ones who decided to use 2000 as a reason to bitch about Bush from the moment he took office.

I don't have a problem with Democrats per se...

I hate their leadership because they're so incredibly far left that it's hurting the country.

Ever since the Democratic party underwent a revolution in 1968, they've been getting more and more radical. The Ted Kennedys, Patrick Leahys, Tom Daschles, etc. are some of the dirtiest players in politics and like to play misdirection by accusing their opponents of what they do.

Daschle and the Democratic party funneled a LOT of money into South Dakota in 2002 to beat John Thune. It worked at the time, as Thune lost by 550 votes, but now Thune's getting his revenge.

In short, my views are pretty much that the Democratic party of the 1940s and 1950s was the party's shining hour while their so-called "golden years" from 1960 on have been a whitewashed disaster, ESPECIALLY since the "young turks" seized power after the 1968 elections.

Would CNN stop the bullshit about Ohio being to close too call. Just admit you're to chicken too announce Bush won the state.

As I posted earlier --- the biggest victim of this election is the impression that the MSM is impartial. The past few hours have shown they aren't.

Yeah, I'm totally lost.

I'll go ahead and say no one in the media learned their lesson with this election. They still used exit polls and their refusal to call New Mexico has been horrible. CNN's getting very annoying by acting like there's a chance Ohio's still in play.
