The story has it that Hulk Hogan called Savage on Monday and told him that there is no point in him coming to TNA because he, Goldberg, and Steve Austin are coming in and will take the top spots. Austin and Jarrett's problems date back to the early 90s when Austin worked for the Jarretts in the USWA, but I'm not quite sure what the nature of the problems was. He supposedly doesn't like to talk about that point in his career at all. As for Hogan, we should all know by now that everything that comes out of Hogan's mouth is garbage. He's working Savage, obviously, which is probably part of the reason he's so paranoid.

When Austin got an unusually lower payoff than normal from Jerry Jarrett, Jeff Jarrett walked by Austin, and saw him looking at his check, and said (mind you as the promoter's son) "doesn't get any bigger if you stare at it." That was it for their relationship.

Austin's beef with Debra being involved had nothing to do with jealousy. As he was together with Debra at the time, being in a program with Jarrett would have meant they couldn't be together most of the time, because they'd be against each other on television, and Austin didn't want to an angle that would interfere with his personal life.
