Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Paul E.: The checks in the mail. (5 weeks later) The check was sent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jarrett: Here's your check (hugs a Panda). Don't spend it all in one place. deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Heyman still doesn't have a place to talk. Wasn't his official debt when ECW closed around $7.5 million? It was around that amount and he was open about that. I think the point he was trying to make is he lost half the amount TNA have already lost and was in business for a great many years longer than they have been. He also mentioned the fact that he was up against 2 promotions while TNA has just the 1.

Except Jarrett pays them peanuts. And Heyman got assistance from Vince. He wasn't bankrolled in total by Vince. ECW could actually draw MULTIPLE thousands of fans consistently. -=Mike
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 I agree with Mad Dog. That's why Heyman's such a damn scumbag and why I can't stand him. At least TNA pays his talent. Sabu is still owed over $5,000 from Heyman. New Jack over $1,000. RVD - Jesus, putting a number to it is crazy because Heyman owes him so much. TNA may owe a guy or two some money for a week or so, but they get it to him. Heyman - for almost five years - has owed talent and still not bothered paying them. Fuck him. Guest wrestling365 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 True, but to compare ECW to TNA is like comparing apple's and orange's... fact is, ECW was profitable until Paulie tried going national with PPV's, network television, magazines etc... I give TNA two more years at the most with Panda, they won't backroll them when they don't make money. At the moment WWE is averaging 3000 to 4000 for house shows, I shudder to think what TNA could do in the current climate of the biz.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Head over to the Victory Road download thread to see why Panda doesn't necessarily care about TNA making money.

Heyman paid Taz the entire time he was out with a broken neck when he had no contract and no obligation to. If and when he had the money he would take care of ppl. New Jack and Sabu to this day cannot get a job with a bigger company.A guy like New Jack was drizzling shits in the ring aside from weapon shots and balcony dives and no one wanted him then and no one wants him now. RVD says on the dvd he knew he wasn't going to be paid anymore so he would do independents to pay the bills and still appear with ECW because he was hoping they'd get bigger and loved working there. Lance Storm on the dvd talks about getting three bounced checks and threatening to leave and never getting a bounced check again. Ppl stuck around because they knew if the company took off they would get what they had coming to them.It didn't and that was the gamble they chose.

Dude, Heyman made up a story about Jack raping a girl in hopes of getting him arrested. Lance Storm on the dvd talks about getting three bounced checks and threatening to leave and never getting a bounced check again. He shouldn't have gotten one in the first place. As far as Sabu goes, the story on him is that Heyman did everything he could to prevent him from working promotions other than ECW. Sabu tried to sign with WCW and Heyman tried to sue him. Sabu tried to work in Japan and for XPW and Heyman tried to sue him. Had XPW not supplied Sabu with thousands of dollars to fight Heyman in court, Sabu never would've been able to get another paycheck. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Paul E. was probably horrible when it comes to judging how to pay someone. And really, how much money do you make from selling out a Bingo Hall (the nickname everyone gives the ECW Arena)?
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 While I enjoy some of TNA. I usually enjoyed all of ECW. NWA's heavyweight divison is such a bore right now, and as long as Jarrett's on top of the promotion it'll stay that way. Their cruisers and some of their tag teams are the only reason to tune in...although I usually forget to do that. I've been to 6 or 7 ECW shows live and I've always had a great time. So in my book it's ECW >>>>>>>>> TNA. ECW seemed to be able to do a lot more with a lot less. And let's see if TNA can last a few more years before we even start comparing the two. LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Why did ECW lose so much money? They sold out a lot of buildings and merchandise. They lost so much money by trying to go to PPV when they should've waited at least three years longer, probably even more. By going on PPV so early, they screwed themselves from the start. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Why did ECW lose so much money? They sold out a lot of buildings and merchandise. They expanded too fast too soon. Instead of expanding slowly, state by state, they tried to move too far afield. They paid for tv timeslots they really shouldn't have, because they felt they had to take the offer while it was on the table.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Watch the interview. Heyman doesn't bash TNA like you guys say he is. Josh Matthews asks him if they are competition to the WWE, and he says no. He says that Jerry Jarrett is a brilliant business man though, because they've probably lost 10, 12, maybe 15 million dollars, but it was Panda's money, not theirs. He says short answer, no, they're not competition, but he wishes they were because the business needs it, but right now they're not.

Yea that sounds like a story even though you preach it like confirmed truth.Even if New Jack or Sabu were the ones that told you this it's still only their side of the story. I have a hard time believing WCW ever had any interest in Sabu considering that he doesn't have an offensive maneuver that doesn't involve a chair or table and they were the least hardcore of the three. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 People need to listen to Byte This before the judge. Heyman isn't bashing TNA at all. Matthews just asks him if they are competition, to which Heyman responds with "no" and Heyman said he wishes they were or that somebody was because the industry NEEDS IT. The only spin Heyman puts on it is with Jarrett by saying that they have lost more money in two years then ECW did in all of it's seven years of existence. Also Heyman said that a lot of the bounced checks and financial troubles near the end happened because they couldn't access the money that the PPV companies owed them. RHR 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 As far as a TNA vs. ECW comparison....watch the DVD....look at all the guys who went through ECW...it even blew my mind... Austin Foley Benoit Jericho Mysterio The Dudleys Rhyno Dreamer Storm Tazz Guerrero RVD Tajiri throw in that with out the Sandman/Raven incident...Angle might've been there,too...I mean...most of these guys are either HUGE stars or still employed/important to the current WWE....then, you've got guys like Raven that are still important to the business... if and when TNA goes out of the business...who is going to still be around afterwards? Styles? Monty? No where near the impact players....Vince made a huge mistake by not keeping ECW alive...but separate...as it could've been the perfect inbetween for OVW and WWE....guys like Tomko, Jindrak, et all could've been put under Paul and learned CHARACTER...then moved up if they were decent...think about it...how much different are the ECW guys from when they first came to the WWE/F....watered down versions, but, guys like Rhyno, the Dudleys, Tajiri, RVD...go over because they were seasoned and ready....which is what Vince needs....could you imagine Orton with some of that ECW seasoning....or Batista...or Benjamin...man.... ECW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>TNA TNA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>nothing at all
