Guest Dazed Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Basically... the boards can't support however many people all saying "Holy shit, Mick Foley~!" at the same time for two hours every monday (curiously, thursday night is fine ) TCR and Rando have made a One And Only board for all your talking-during-Raw fun. Czech says: Did we establish this as the official home for OAO threads from TSM yet? We have to get the word out so people know this is the place and not Crono's thing, or the WWE folder. Anyhow, for whatever reason as of late, TSM hasn't been able to support OAO Raw without crashing for half an hour. This is an inconvenience for people in the OAO Raw thread, but moreso for people trying to access TSM for other reasons from 8-10 Central time. I know Loss and Nik flirted with the idea of shutting down the entire forum during Raw to discourage the OAO thread. If that happens, that's even more of a pain in the ass, plus ironic that a wrestling forum would be "blacked out" during the most popular wrestling show. Plus, what if you don't feel like doing Raw that week? Then you can't even browse other fine folders, such as Graphics & Testing Grounds. So as a way of settling things, Rando and I, two of the "good" OAOers, took it upon ourselves to resolve the server situation by packing up OAO Raw, as well as PPV threads, to lighten the load on TSM. I'd assume once we get the folder mods' blessing, OAO Raw won't be allowed in TSM's WWE folder. For all general intents and purposes, this is an extension of TSM, with the same people and purpose, but I don't feel like having a long list of rules, so we'll just play it by ear. Anyway, if you haven't registered yet, do so soon, so you can re-join the Monday Night Tradition of post-whoring and saying "OMG TEH ROCK" or "Boom Shaka Laka!" Thanks. TCR So... I'm opening up things to you. I'd suggest creation of a OAO thread anyway, which is opened whenever the Raw preview is posted on WWE.com, and used for pre-show bullshitting. It'd be nice if people could still update the thread, maybe, with "Orton and Benoit just beat Triple H and Ric Flair in about 15:00, when Orton RKOed Flair. Good match, etc etc", but without discussion of those comments, if that makes sense. As in... only post in there if you're going to offer a decent or substantial update as to what's happening. Or would you prefer to see proper discussion as well, on top of the show updates? Say, if you want to criticise the booking of an HHH match (as if!), then use the thread for intelligent discussion. Either way, the shitty comments have to go to keep the board usable. Thoughts / comments / suggestions / pictures of Orton with the word "sensible" underneath? (only one person may do the last one, dammit) Nik
The Mandarin Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Why don't we just have a OAO thread that is locked between 9 and 11 so discussion can take place afterwards? That gets rid of "commercial sucks" or other useless discussion and destroys SRGotN (Senseless Running Gag of the Night).
Guest Dazed Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 We can't guarantee a mod will be around, basically. It's also good to allow people to give updates on what's happening.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM~!
Twisted Intestine Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I think just saying it's for intellegent discussion should work.. ...I don't know how to assure people can handle that... maybe a disclaimer at the start of the thread? Edit: Maybe make the orriginator of the thread the person in charge of doing recaps, so that we don't have 5 recaps of the match posted at once?
AlaskanHero Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I like the OAO Raw topics being full of "discussion", but I wouldn't mind someone posting what was fucking happening for people who don't get Spike T.V. Everyone yelling "HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT~!" doesn't exactly tell me anything other than a whole bunch of smarks are creaming their boxers (or panties for those of the female persuasion and those who like dressing like that) for some reason I can't see. To summerize, intelligent (or at least vaguely pertinent) discussion with updates is what I want.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 How about getting a better board? And I refuse to post in the OAO Forum as long as that background remains.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Hmm, I wonder where this went.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Why are we debating about the crap that clogs up the RAW thread when there is so much more crap that clogs up this forum? Priorities, people.
The Amazing Rando Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 *cough* http://randown.hosted-forum.com Is this better, ya'll??
The Czech Republic Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Ideally, I'd like OAORaw to have less "HOLY SHIT" (I'm probably guilty, but I try to quote what was said or something to make my comments semi-relevant," but if the sheer amount of people on the board are making TSM crash, then we'd have to move it, I guess. I just want whatever our solution is to keep things running smoothly, I guess. I don't think locking threads or shutting the board down would be any good.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 There has to be a better name than that Between you, czech, and the monkeys, you should be able to come up with something.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I really don't understand why we don't just have a seperate AIMCHATroom like we did for the MLB Playoffs. That's basically what the OAO thread is these days; a chat room. I like the proposal of a *update* only OAO here and THEN having the thread used for dicussion/ranting/bitching about the show when it's over.

Whatever it takes to have the chat and TSM running smoothly from 8-10 works for me. Whoa, remember when I fought the system? Yeah me neither.
geniusMoment Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 What about the smarks IRC chat room we had a couple of years ago, would it be a consideration to bring it back? Plus, then we would be kickin' it old school.
Ted the Poster Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Go here for the OAO Raw Thread.
CBright7831 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I signed up shortly before RAW tonight and I still haven't got a notice. I think I put in the right email address.
The Czech Republic Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I don't think you need to verify, just sign up and you're in.
iliketurtles Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Would it be ok if once Raw ended, someone made a Discussion thread about what happened on Raw? I'm sure the page amount will be at lesat be cut in half becuase it wont be people just posting random things throughout the thread.
CBright7831 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I don't think you need to verify, just sign up and you're in. Nope. You have to put in a username and email address and they will mail you a pw. I've been on these kind of boards before. It's kind of stupid, but oh well.

Guest Dazed Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 This week seemed to work well, even with the lack of live updates. Did the board go down for anyone? Any further comments or anything?
The Czech Republic Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Oddly enough, the board had been down intermittently at seemingly every hour OTHER than 8 to 10 Central. Noodle that one for a while.
