Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 All of the usual news places confirmed it at least by yesterday.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 " - Dusty Rhodes, Bob Ryder, and Jerry Jarrett spoke to the wrestlers yesterday at the Impact taping. Dusty was introduced as the new booker. Dusty told the wrestlers that he had a vision for the company and asked everyone to be patient while he makes that vision a reality. Word is that Dusty really won over the wrestlers and that everyone left the meeting with positive feelings. - Dusty Rhodes also met with the X-Division wrestlers yesterday. He told them that he is a big fan of their work but that he doesn't know their characters, which means the fans don't either. He told them that they will now get more chances to cut promos and interact with the fans. He added that if the fans don't connect with you, you can't draw money, so he wants them to grow their characters and become bigger parts of TNA." ---------------------------------------------- Good thing I see out of it is character developement for the X-guys. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Looks like Rhodes has gotten off on the right foot. Give the X-guys personalities instead of 40 minutes of Jarrett talking in his hick voice about how great he is, despite no one wanting to work with him any higher than the midcard in the WWF because he was beneath the main event level. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Sounds good to me. Maybe Dusty's learned his lessons and will book properly.
Guest BDC Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Sounds like a good start. Would it be too much to hope that Raven could, I dunno, win the World title?
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Sounds like a good start. Would it be too much to hope that Raven could, I dunno, win the World title? Nah. Raven, at this point, does not deserve a World Title run. -=Mike
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Raven hasn't had a good match in at least a year in TNA. Why should he get a World Title? For being out-of-shape?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 So Raven can put someone like Chris Daniels or AJ Styles over?
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Then have them jobbed out to Jeff Jarrett...again?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 Jeff Jarrett will be too busy harrassing Jeff Hardy to care about the title.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2004 So, how long before Corino comes in and wins the NWA Title?
Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 25, 2004 So, how long before Corino comes in and wins the NWA Title? Just curious, but would you be against this? Steve Corino is one of my favorite wrestlers, and if built up correctly, as a competant challenger, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Twisted Intestine 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Raven SHOULD win the world title. Raven IS their biggest wrestler. Raven CAN give someone the rub. Raven looking horrible lately isn't his fault. I think with proper booking, they could get everyone back onto the Raven bandwagon. ..they can at least fake that he's still got it long enough to give someone a proper rub.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 The problem is that Raven's looking terrible IS his fault, as he's out of shape and doesn't give a damn in his matches anymore. I can understand mailing it in with the shitty booking they've given him, but getting so out of shape you need to wear a slimbelt just to hold your rolls? Sorry, not acceptable when you used to be a professional bodybuilder.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Exactly how much of a rub can you get from Raven? Outside of the Indy's, he's been nothing more than a midcarder (even less than that in WWF/E). It's not like he's Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Raven SHOULD win the world title. Why? There are several guys more deserving. Heck, Abyss is infinitely more deserving right now. Monty Brown -- whom I loathe --- is more deserving. AJ Styles is always more deserving. I could more easily make a case for Christopher Daniels at present than Raven. Raven IS their biggest wrestler. I'm not exactly sure where you get that from. Much as I hate his work, Brown is more over than Raven by a good margin right now. Raven CAN give someone the rub. How? His ring work is crap, he's been stuck in midcard limbo for a LONG time now. He has no rub to give. Raven looking horrible lately isn't his fault. I think with proper booking, they could get everyone back onto the Raven bandwagon. Booking can't make a guy who has gotten lazy in the ring look less lazy. ..they can at least fake that he's still got it long enough to give someone a proper rub. It's like expecting Nash to do that. At a certain point, you have to deal with them being unable to do it. -=Mike

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 So, how long before Corino comes in and wins the NWA Title? Just curious, but would you be against this? Steve Corino is one of my favorite wrestlers, and if built up correctly, as a competant challenger, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Corino couldn't be world champ because of his Japan commitments.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 On the contrary. I think Corino's Japanese commitments would make him a BETTER champ. Unlike Jarrett, he could actually defend the title somewhere other than TNA and he could do it in Japan, making him an actual WORLD champion. And as for Raven, give him a few good feuds, and he could hold the belt. I see him more in the "Jericho" spot, though. Building up the younger stars, as he is popular enough to lose without becoming the Val Venis of TNA.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 26, 2004 How can he be Champion when he's in Japan for 4-6 weeks at a time? That means the World Champion won't even be on the show.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 How can he be Champion when he's in Japan for 4-6 weeks at a time? That means the World Champion won't even be on the show. Since they're taping 2 iMPACT's a week, it wouldn't be AS hard to pull it off now. Try to work out a deal with whatever company he's working with to have him on Tuesday's. I'm not sure about the details, I'd just like to see Corino, and the title defended somewhere other than TNA.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Rant, before becoming a professional wrestler in the early 90's, Scott Levy was a bodybuilder. Find some OLD pictures, pre-Scotty Flamingo even, of him. Bigger than HHH, muscle-wise, when Hunter returned from his quad tear and gained all that weight in muscle mass. And if he wasn't a professional bodybuilder, then he was an amateur bodybuilder, which doesn't make a WHOLE lot of difference. And if the Raven/DDP feud was based off of something more than "oh, you used to be my friend, but you stopped calling me," then Raven would probably get back into shape. Remember how out of shape he was at the end of his WWF/WWE run? And then, three weeks later, he was in the best shape of his career? That could happen again as long as Rhodes understands that Raven is a valuable part of any creative team (he booked half of ECW from 1995-1997, their best run, and booked almost all of his own angles in WCW) and gives him at the very least an upper-midcard push. And if Raven gets back into the shape he was at a year and a half ago? Push the fuck out of him. Re: Corino As Swiggy said, it wouldn't be too hard to have him as NWA World champion, despite his tours of Japan. Since two Impacts are taped in one week, they could tape and air vignettes of Corino's promo's, and/or pay for his airfare and lodging to Orlando and (hopefully) have the puro company he's touring with pay for his airfare back. Either that, or maybe, just MAYBE, Corino would be willing to take a paycut to work primarily in the States, since he IS tight with Dusty.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 See, that's what I thought too Corey. Considering how much Corino looks up to Dusty I could certainly see Dusty trying to get him into TNA full-time and I could see Corino seriously considering it. Not sure what contractual obligations he has, if any, as far as Japan goes. And I'm sure the added attraction of the NWA World Championship being put on the line in Japan could benefit all parties, if Corino were to defend it along the lines that MLW did briefly with Kojima. Just curious, but would you be against this? On the contrary. Corino is certainly competant enough in the ring and on the mic to be a World Champion at TNA's level. Plus, he's a fresh face, as far as the company is concerned.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Well, unless Corino has already decided to join whatever group is formed out of the ashes of the now-defunct Zero One group, Dusty can now at least pitch the idea of joining TNA to Corino.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 To everyone saying that if Corino gets the title and defends it in Japan, it will be interesting to see the title defended in a non-TNA environment... ...does that mean the NWA World Title has not recently been defended in the other NWA promotions...like Wildside and such?
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2004 Not to my knowledge. I think the last time it was defended anywhere but TNA was nearly a year ago in AAA.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2004 Styles did a good job defending all over the place, even in ROH, but Jarrett is pretty much TNA only.
