kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 Since two games are on Thursday, I am not making it required to submit picks by 1 p.m. Wednesday. If you don't submit picks for the Turkey Day games by, say, 9 a.m. Thursday, then you will not be able to pick games for those two contests. For the Sunday games, the usual deadline of Saturday at 1 p.m., or a little later depending on when I get home from shopping/whatnot, is still in play. In addition, if you have to resort to Emergency Picks this week the Thanksgiving games will not be included in your Emergency Pick selections for the week. I'm doing this because if someone is down 2-0 after Thanksgiving, I don't want to give them the opportunity to win a Thursday game or two by just relying on their Emergency Picks. This rule will be applied to other games this season that have a Friday/Saturday start time as well. EDIT: In addition, I made this note in the last thread, but in case some of you don't read the standings every week, I felt it was important enough to repeat here... And speaking of next year, some of you guys are pretty much out of playoff contention (although the AFC and NFC East Divisions can still be won by the last-place teams, imo). However, if you want to keep your team next year, still make your picks. Not only can you play spoiler for some poster, but also if you miss 5 games this year, your team will be an available franchise. Basically, what I'm going to do next year is give first dibs to everyone that played this year and didn't use their emergency picks five times. Then I will open up the remaining teams to anyone who wants them. If I had to use emergency picks five times this year for a team, that team will be available to the first person to claim them. For example, if bob_barron didn't post picks five times this year, his Bills team will be on the open market. Bob could still claim them, but he runs the risk of someone else taking them. The only exception I'm making to this rule is the week or two Agent Bond had to use his Emergency Picks because he was unjustly banned at the time and had no way to send me his picks. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 If anyone wants to do what nl5 just did, I have no problem with that. Just make sure, for my sanity, to make your other picks in another post. If you expect me to remember to backtrack and check your old posts for new picks, think again. Also, someone asked me what happens if someone submits their Turkey Day picks but forgets to submit the Sunday picks. Well, I'll accept the Turkey Day picks and go with Emergency Picks for the Sunday games. So could I, you know. But nobody cares because you were in the playoffs last year, so you are expected to win this division. Plus you didn't have a crappy start to the season this year... kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 All you really have to do is get in the playoffs, and it's anyone's game. Considering there's only 2-4 games to pick from per post-season round, it's got a "sudden death" feel to it. And the next few weeks are going to get really interesting. I'm probably not going to do regular-season tie-breakers until Week 16 or 17...
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I have a feeling Vern's going to take this all the way. He's tied for the best record in the league, and has been impressive in his wins. There are some slight flaws with your "feeling". 1) Someone else is 8-2. 2) That someone else is 2-0 when in the Game of the Week. 3) That someone else is perfect against the AFC at 3-0. 3) That someone else is perfect against his division at 2-0 (this week not withstanding). 4) That someone else is a perfect 5-0 when his games are needed to be decided by a single point. 5) That someone else may have started the season at 2-2 after 4 games, but has gone on to win 6 straight. 6) And the biggest reason your "feeling" is flawed, that someone else beat Vern Gagne. Therefore, this someone else is classified as being the true leader of the 3kFL. Hence, that someone else has something to say about him winning it all.
