cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Did the Chad Austin match from 1990 ever air? You know, the one where Marty Jannetty paralyzed Austin with a botched Rocker Dropper. It was a squash tag match for Superstars but I'm just wondering if it ever was broadcast or leaked, since this Chad Austin guy is near-mythical (no video of the match, no pics of him). I don't believe it was botched on Marty's part, Austin didn't take the bump face first and instead put his head down like a piledriver bump and thusly broke his own neck, more or less. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Where was the WWE going with HBK's heel turn in 1999, when he superkicked The Rock during the first episode of Smackdown while he was refereeing a match between Rock and HHH. They just dropped the whole thing entirely, was Michaels supposed to return to the ring?
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 18, 2005 I dont believe so; it was just a easy way to get HHH the win without rock having to job clean and to add *shock* value to the first episode.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Depending on who you believe HBK was slated for an on-screen return at that point, as well as a few other times when he'd pop up to ref a match and then disapear, but that he was still doped up and Vince didn't trust him. Definitely happened in 01 or 02 and they had to push his return back. It wasn't until he got himself sober and "found Christ" that they were willing to take him on full time. LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Perhaps I am remembering incorrectly here, but wasn't the final nail in the coffin when he got fucked up at a party? Maybe at Stevie Richards' house? Or was that after the firing? Not to be a jerk, but I believe Crash getting messed up Richards' house was the final nail in his own coffin, not his WWE career.  I could be mistaken but I believe Crash died in his sleep choking on vomit. I was remembering incorrectly. Thanks.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 During the May '96 WWE PPV, there was a blackout and somehow, the show still went on and a lot of the matches were still conducted in the pitch black darkness, anyone know how the wrestlers did it? That must have been fucking hard as hell. Â And also, didn't Taker beat Goldust in that casket match, but when they did the do over a few days later, Goldust beat Taker and retain the IC title? Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 The lights actually did go out in the arena, as it totally lost power. They had to make do with emergency lighting until power was restored. Â Goldust beat The Undertaker in both of their matches.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 I believe the arena lights went out too at first, but the reserve power didn't have enough for full PPV-quality lighting. A spotlight and some of the basic lighting was still good, so they did the show with (all?) the faces going over.

Guest Stunt Granny Report post Posted March 19, 2005 Is it true that Vince wanted to bring in Bruce Hart in 1993 so he could turn on Bret and start a brother vs. brother feud with him, but at the last minute decided to go with Owen? That would have changed the history books for sure.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 19, 2005 It might be true. I know Bret was the one who pushed for Owen to get a bigger role in the company in the Fall of 1993, so I wouldn't rule it out from being possible.
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted March 20, 2005 What happened to Too Cool in like mid '99? I remember Too Much debuted as Too Cool on like Heat by costing someone (Hardys, maybe?) a match, did a promo giving them their name (with i think them holding a boombox, now that i think about it), then kinda vanished until like October or November. Were they in one of the development territories at the time or something?
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2005 Brian Christopher tore his ACL and needed surgery. Â And in case people forgot, Too Cool were going to get 'married' at St Valentine's Day Massacre in 1999.

A spotlight and some of the basic lighting was still good, so they did the show with (all?) the faces going over. I have an early Raw magazine with pictures of the matches that happened when the power went out, and maybe it is just the camera, but it appears as though there are no lights at all pointed at the ring. And yes, all of the faces went over including Yokozuna. I remember because Raw magazine said he won because "the Japanese see better in the dark."
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted March 23, 2005 I've got one (if it's been asked i apologize): what was the plan going to be if HHH won the '96 King of the Ring? I assume he would get some massive push, maybe the title at some point, something to "make" him. Also, what would have happened with Austin? Logic says he wouldn't have been the guy to go after Bret & all that, so i'm curious.

Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Here's one that's kind of weird... Â At King Of The Ring '97 during the Austin/HBK match, HBK played a cowardly heel and ran outside the ring and hid behind some kid. Who was this kid? They had a shot of the little boy going back to the locker room with, I think, his parents.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 25, 2005 He didn't hide behind him. Â The kid was mentally retarded and either fell over the guardrail or went over it. Shawn was walking him back with the guards because i believe the kid was scared.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Yeah, the kid fell over the rail and Shawn helped him get out of harm's way. Â Austin sold this just by staring at HBK and sarcastically holding the ropes open for him, as if to say "Good job, Humaniatrian of the Year."

Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2005 When did the WWF scratch logo blurring begin? Because I remember as late as October 2002, that the WWF scratch logo could still be clearly seen in video packages and in the magazines. I have the Hulkamania magazine that came out in the summer of 2002, and in the pictures showing Hogan back in the WWF with the nWo, the WWF scratch logo is seen with no blurring whatsoever. The WWE logo does appear in the magazine, but so does the WWF scratch logo.

JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2005 What led to Vince bringing in Hall, Nash, and Hogan in 2002? Panic at slipping ratings?
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 27, 2005 Probably. Hogan sold merchandising, but despite getting some of the bes pops at shows, the ratings continued slipping. Nahs did nothing for ratings, and Hall wasn't around long enough to do anything.
