King Kamala Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Just found out that Wu-Tang Clan are playing a ski lodge here in Maine on Friday night...bizarre. This is the first big hip hop act we've gotten in Maine since Ja Rule came to Portland two years or so ago.
godthedog Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 they are gonna fuck them up some fake wood paneling.
King Kamala Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Thinking about it, is there a less hip hop venue than a ski lodge in Maine? I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a single black person in the audience at the show. I'd love to go but it's $40 and a good hour and forty five minutes away from here.
Nighthawk Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 Maybe you heard wrong and it's the Jew Tang Clan.
Gary Floyd Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Maybe you heard wrong and it's the Jew Tang Clan. The JewZA.
King Kamala Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Actually, The Jew Tang Clan would be equally as weird considering Maine's Jewish population is probably about as small as its African American population. I'd pay $40 to see The Jew Tang Clan...
Smartly Pretty Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Maybe you heard wrong and it's the Jew Tang Clan. The JewZA. Method Mench?
Cheech Tremendous Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Maybe you heard wrong and it's the Jew Tang Clan. The JewZA. Method Mench? Raekwon the Kosher Chef?
Lord of The Curry Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 New Bon Iver, A.C Newman, Springsteen and Antony and The Johnson's this month. Sweet.
C Dubya 04 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I can't get Bon Iver for some reason. The singing/songwriting just doesn't do it for me at all.
Guest Smues Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 My wife just called from work asking if I had any 50's music, because they need it for some reason or another. I first suggested Chuck Berry, and could hear scoffing in the background and "not that music!" How the fuck do you just generically ask for music from 'the 50's' and reject Chuck Berry?
Nighthawk Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 They meant the 50s, not the 1950s... "Do yoooooou remember the 50s, when emperor Claudius di-ied? The Apostle Paul, traveled to Greece, and..."

Use Your Illusion Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Does anyone think Motley Crue's 'Generation Swine' is vastly underrated? I'm saying it's a masterpiece or anythinig, but it is almost universally panned - I don't think that's fair. 'Afraid' was a decent single, the 'Swine/Jimbo mix' or whatever was superior though. And 'Find Myself' is just sleaze at its best, love it. But then, I like Madagascar, zing
Gary Floyd Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 You know, Thin White Rope were a really underrated band.
Use Your Illusion Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Yes the lyrics are fucking terrible 'This is fine for now but, maybe, let's make a baby inside of you', but Glitter sounds cool.

PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I've bored you guys with this stuff before, and now I'm doing it again. Made a New Year's mix for my girlfriend. We all disguise it as 'just cause' because it's sweet and all, but the reality is usually that we want to listen to our shit when we are in their car. Well, here it is. I really tapped into my inner indie-fag for the core elements. Blindfolded (Saves the Day) Schaffino (At The Drive-In) Ha Ha (Mates of State) Our Weekend Starts on Wednesday (Hey Mercedes) Book Of Flags (Q and Not U) 1,000 Deaths (Aesop Rock) To Your Love (Fiona Apple) The Legend of the Flower of Woe (HORSE the Band) Tears for the Sheep (Atmosphere) Cul De Sac (Komeda) Mr. Lee (The Bobbettes) Ultimate Stars (Saturday Looks Good To Me) Bled White (Elliott Smith) Asa Phelps Is Dead (The Lawrence Arms) Weird Fishes/Arpeggi (Radiohead) Life And Limb (Fugazi) I Remain Calm (The Roots) One Zero (Make Believe) Big Time Sensuality (Björk) Flashback (Gift of Gab) Big Decision (Elliott Smith) Colorful Music (Decibully) P.S. You Rock My World (Eels)
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 HORSE the Band are fun. Nice guys, too.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I already burned her a mix consisting solely of Chinese Democracy tracks. I'm just working with scraps now.
King Kamala Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I'm downloading a lot of hair metal on Ruckus for some reason, tonight. I guess I'm feeling particularly nostalgiac for The Summer of '02 when I was hanging out with my cousin who loved hair bands (His favorite was Slaughter for some reason) who my mom thought was a pedophile for some reason. He isn't thankfully---at least as far as I know. Maybe I wasn't an attractive enough adolescent. Combine that and Metal Ed's reign of supremacy here at TSM around that time and that'll explain the three months where I liked hair metal.

The Flamboyance Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 I got tix to see Morrissey in March. It'll be my second time seeing him, and I'm excited. Let's hope that new album is good!
