Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 2, 2004 Don't forget Savage vs. Crush...well, at least I thought it was pretty darn good. Even M.O.M vs. the Quebecers was better than I was expecting (nothing great, but it was good considering it was M.O.M). The only bad on it was the extra dull Yoko/Luger match, the lame Womens match, the Mixed Tag, and the quickie Quake squash.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 X is more overrated than III, IMO. The ladder match is a classic, as is Bret vs. Owen (even though I don't love it as much as everyone else does), but that doesn't make it the best Mania ever. Thanks to the insane heights WWE was pushing in recent years, the ladder match comes off as dated to anyone who hasn't been watching longer than five years. I think XVII is a bit overrated, too. The main event was excellent, but stuff like the opener, hardcore match and the HHH vs. Taker match don't age well at all.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 2, 2004 I thought the Kane/Show/Raven match was pretty fun. Probably one of the better hardcore matches at the time, with the exception of the Hardcore Title match between Rhyno and Raven at Backlash.

Having two of the ten best WWF matches of the decade doesn't? Show me another Mania card that can claim that. Only to people who don't know what they're watching. Mania 10 is still the smartest worked ladder match ever.

Shawn and Razor is still better than the other ladder matches which were nothing much more than spot fest, especially the TLC one. Entertaining, but little psychology in it. And WM X had two of the greatest matches ever, and Bret Hart winning the title was one of the best moments in WWF history with all the wrestlers from the back coming out. Plus Mr. Perfect returned!!!!!!!!
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 Part of what makes 17 great is the atmosphere and 65,000+ in the Astrodome on fire for everything. I won't comment on Regal v. Y2J since I'm biased but the hardcore match is really funny. From Raven getting run over to Big Show's 'ON THE FLOOR' how can you not love it? I know a lot of people slag on HHH v. Taker but I can still watch that match and still mark out at all the appropiate spots. I guess Wrestlemania X-7 is my sentimental favourite as I love everything on that show. I think it smokes Wrestlemania X and I love that show too. On WM XX: You can't give 20 minutes per match- the crowd would get so burned out. The only match that really deserved to longer was the cruiserweight open but the crowd didn't give a shit about them anyway. Eddy and Benoit in the ring together holding the belts- how can you not love that show?
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 2, 2004 I'm still wondering why both tag title matches were about 6:00 long each, both womens matches were 5:00 combined, the Cruiserweight Title match was barely 10:00, and Kane v. Undertaker was 7:00. I'm not saying give every match 20:00, but give the Tag Titles and UT/Kane more time than 6 minutes. That leaves the Triple Threat (25:00?) Eddie vs. Angle (Somewhere between 15:-20:00) Evolution vs. RnS (20:00+) Goldberg vs. Brock getting an insane 15:00 Cena vs. Show was around 10:00 Jericho vs. Christian around 13:00 Not counting entrances, post match celebrations and pre/post-match interviews, the above 6 matches filled in a little more than half the show. (This is going by last viewing of the entire show...like 2 months ago). Actual times may be slightly more or less. Brock/Goldberg could've easily been 5-7 minutes shorter, considering everyone shat completely over them the entire match, and the 3-on-2 Handicap could've been the same with around 15:00. The stupid Womens Lingerie Match ate up another 5-6 minutes with the dumb match, disrobing and crap, thus screwing Molly/Victoria over. They even had to cut away from the head shaving because of the rushing into the Eddie/Angle match.
brighty 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 Hall Of Fame parade took up 10 minutes (but theres a case for that being a key part of the show), as did Jesse Ventura interviewing some bloke sat ringside (but there isnt for this).
Guest HTQ's Personal Bitch Report post Posted December 2, 2004 I go back and forth between 3, 7, 8, 10, 14, and 17. I also liked parts of 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20. Anyone who points out "suchandsuch is the best and there's no argument. end of discussion" is a blithering idiot that doesn't understand that this is a very subjective discussion. Just to interject: I'm sure I don't know how mny people knew about it in advance. My friends and I knew because it was mentioned in the wrestling column of the Boston Herald the week leading up to wm8. no internet for me in 1992!!
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 3, 2004 It was a surprise for fans who didn't know about the Internet or Newspapers. I was only a kid at the time, and was happily surprised. Looking back on it now, it's lame, and Warrior just inflated his ego even more and ditched the WWF when it was desperate for Main Event power on the face side. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2004 you know, I actually kinda miss the old mark days, when all you did was watch the product, you didn't read spoliers on the internet, you didn't get rumors on the internet...all you did was watch the show and if something "suprising" happened you're like HOLY SHIT! We've all been spoiled for too long by this age of smarkness, that's our problems with todays product... Back on topic: I don't have a favorite WM, just favorite matches: Savage v. Steamboat Savage v. Warrior Warrior v. Rude Bret v. Owen Bret v. Austin Austin v. Rock (from WM17) Bret v. Piper HBK v Diesel Hulk v. Warrior I'm sure there are others...
