Ron Simmons Re-Hired by WWE?

Recommended Posts

Wow, this could lead to a really great storyline between JBL and Simmons, especially considering that the last time we saw the two of them together, Bradshaw was pleading for Simmons to stay and talk to him.

But I'm just going to leave it to the Smackdown writers to botch it.

Or WWE in general...

...like, they give Simmons his old WCW theme.

RFS! RFS!

I, for one, would love to see Ron "Faarooq" Simmons return as a homeless guy, and Layfield doesn't want to give him money. So he uses his street-wisdom to face his long-time partner.

This is, of course, normal logic.

unless there is a timetable and that this is either current or recent I don't think we should be reading to much out of this.

Ron always went with the WWE going to USO tours when he was with them still.

If he wrestled, he'd probably join JBL's team of losers.

Not necessarily.

They could play how JBL didn't want to help Ron get re-hired after the loss to Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty.

And it could be JBL's post WWE title feud.

Read the text on the picture page.

It says "December 4th, 2004". That's pretty recent.

It's even got Spike Dudley with his currently-monster-sized beard.

It could possibly work but its WWE writers so it most likely won't. Anyways if its done the set up should be....

Long re-hired Simmons because he's an old friend and Long use to manage Simmons in Doom (won't be said because its WWE). And JBL is worried/pist because he feels Long is out to get him by hiring back the guy JBL really didn't put up a fight with Heyman to keep Simmons on SD! and it just goes from there. Maybe they have a match at the Febuary ppv if its not a Raw PPV.

Long re-hired Simmons because he's an old friend and Long use to manage Simmons in Doom (won't be said because they were a average tag team in a rival promotion who rose to midcard status over twelve years ago).

Edited for accuracy.

I thought he was a road agent.

Ditto...or at least I though the WWE offered him the position in March.

I think they did offer him the position, but he turned it down. After that point, though, he was definitely fired, allegedly due to (IIRC) "substance abuse" issues (read: alcohol).

As for hiring him back, what's the point? He's old, with bad knees, and can't wrestle a full-time schedule. As an agent would be 1 thing, but as a wrestler it would be a waste of money.

See, I had this ideafor a storyline a while ago. Bradshaw loses the belt, then shortly after it is revealed that his stocks plummet. He is forced to file for bankruptcy and his team of losers kicks his ass. Over the next couple of weeks they show vigenettes of Bradshaw as a homeless guy panhandling on the street. Finally he happens to hook back up with Faroq who buys him a beer and helps him get out from under the gutter.

As someone said earlier, he was hired a road agent a while back.

No, there was talk that he was going to retire soon and become a road agent back around when he got fired for some sort of unacceptable conduct that was never revealed. Some say he had an alcohol problem. Some say he was saying lewd things at Stephanie at the post-WM party.

But he was definitely fired in March 2004.

He had an inflated ego I heard, and was generally annoying everyone around Wrestlemania time. Plus his tug-o-war with retirement didn't really help him in the eyes of Vince, because why should he keep someone around when the person has no idea what they are going to do a month from now.

Doom was not some 'midcard' team. They were the only team to have defeated the Road Warriors convincingly, in the Road Warriors' prime, being able to take the Warriors' smash-face style and dish it back.

Unless he did something real uncooth, or developed an emnity toward Vince like Bruno sammartino has, a departed wrestler never totally leaves WWE. If William Regal and Eddie Guerrero can come back from their depths, so can Ron.

Meltzer on Wrestling Classics seemed to debunk that he'd even been rehired and it was more him being backstage at a house show near his home.
