Gary Floyd Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 It's the most wonderful time of the year....for some. Anyway, every year, we are bombarded with shitty Christmas albums. What Christmas album would you like to see get made, or at least mention one that could never get made.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I'll just say that Vince Guarlidi's Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack is the greatest Christmas album ever. Nothign will ever match it.
Murmuring Beast Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 The Phil Spector Christmas Album is absolutely great if you like every track showered with bells, horns, pianos, drums, etc. A real punchy album. I picked up the Beach Boys Christmas Album and was a bit disappointed. Most of the orchestration wasn't done by Brian and the originals aren't particularly strong. Still, if you're bothered about the quality, you're obviously not enjoying Christmas enough.
MrRant Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I like the Burl Ives one. And Christmas with the Rat Pack is great as well. Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas is good in comedy way.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 If it's christmas music sung by anyone other than Elvis, I can't stand it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 In Flames, KSE, and Shadows Fall have never been good.
King Kamala Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Jethro Tull released a Christmas album recently. I gotta give that at least one listen.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 A Very Black Metal Christmas. THAT would sell.
cbacon Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Hawksley Workman's Almost a Full Moon
Gary Floyd Posted December 11, 2004 Author Report Posted December 11, 2004 A Very Merzbow Christmas-5 noise blasting pieces of dissonance to make you deaf for Christ!
Nighthawk Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 V/Vm put out a christmas album that was pretty good. I wouldn't go listening to it though... I don't think anyone on this board is quite prepared to handle V/Vm.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I'm waiting for the Cannibal Corpse/Charlotte Church Christmas duets album.
Gary Floyd Posted December 12, 2004 Author Report Posted December 12, 2004 V/Vm put out a christmas album that was pretty good. I wouldn't go listening to it though... I don't think anyone on this board is quite prepared to handle V/Vm. I know who they are, and I'm a fan
godthedog Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 i had a dream once that i was listening to the radio and the dj said "and still, the number one selling album of all time is 'the charles manson christmas album' ".

I think you'd agree they have to be built up to.
Dace59 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 A Very Black Metal Christmas. THAT would sell. Well, Aussie mp3 only "Black" Metal band By Dawn Cursed released an Xmas EP, it's sort of there.
Guest The Gecko Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I don't know if anyone is a fan of the Barenaked Ladies, but they released a Christmas Album Barenaked for the Holidays. I enjoy it, but I'm a huge fan soo... my one problem is a lot of the good songs on it are done as instrumentals, no words at all... kind of disappointed me. Other than that I like it a lot. Not to mention, for our Jewish members there is also 3 Channukah songs!
