MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2004 I don't think this will be better than the Gene Wilder version. Plus Depp looks like a vampire.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted December 15, 2004 Plus Depp looks like a vampire. Yea, the make-up definitely makes him look very...old. Check the massive wrinkles on his face everytime he smiles. Looks OK, but not great. I'll probably end up seeing it anyways though.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted December 15, 2004 I thought this was the teaser I've already seen, but it's not. This trailer is alot better than the teaser. The teaser didn't amaze me, but it kept me interested in the film. The trailer makes it look great and it has increased my interest. I now have little doubt that it'll be every bit as good as the Wilder version. Of course, we probably shouldn't even be making that comparison, as the two versions will likely be quite different. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted December 15, 2004 As long as the kid who plays Charlie isn't a complete queer who acts like a girl I'll probably end up seeing it, although Gene Wilder's version was pretty good despite the shitty kid.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2004 I don't know about anyone else, I downloaded the trailer and after having watched it a few times I've got that son in my head, it's become catch and I find myself humming it now and again. It's really got stuck in my head.

Two words: Finding Neverland. Freddie Highmore is simply amazing in that film, though he was only 6, I believe, during the filming. A terrific actor, especially during the really emotional scenes. I thought this was the teaser I've already seen, but it's not. This trailer is alot better than the teaser. Que? Having watched the teaser, oh, twenty times or so, the trailer on the site is the same as the teaser....

Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2004 I dont think Depp looks particularly scary in the clip. I look forward to seeing the film but I dont think it will beat Wilders one.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted December 21, 2004 I want to see this movie. I like Johnny Depp, and Tim Burton has made many movies that I thought were great. These two have worked together before on Ed Wood, so I think that this will be a good movie. This movie is also supposed to follow the book more, but I never read the book. I did watch the original about 500 times (it was an HBO movie and always on back when I was about 7 years old). I loved the original, but I don't think Burton is going for the remake, but more of a retelling of the book. If he can do this, then this will be a good movie woth seeing. They actually worked together in several films together which is probably why Burton picked him (that and he'd sell a few seats). Im a bit sceptical about Burton remakes though, his Planet of the Apes was dirt

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 11, 2005 In the background of the Charlie poster, you can see that the movie appears to be set in a 1920's german impressionist film. Ok now that I got the movie geek term out, let me clarify in normal speak. It looks like they live in Metropolis.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 11, 2005 Good, they got someone kind of malnourished looking to play Charlie Bucket. The kid in the Gene Wilder one was way too healthy for a child subsisting off cabbage soup and the occasional chocolate bar.
