Damaramu Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Ok they did this list this morning on my local sports radio station about the Top 10 dorkiest sports personalities. Of course it was more localized since it's in Oklahoma talking about how Jason White just looks like a dork(which i agree) and stuff like that but they brought some National Guys into it to. So I was wondering who everyone thinks are some dorky sports personalities? Who do you see on TV and say "if I went to High school with that guy I'd kick his ass" or you're just thinking "Jesus shut up you're embarassing yourself" b/c he just keeps doing or saying something dorky? I've got a couple. Like Peyton Manning. Why do I have the feeling that when everyone on Tennessee's team was out partying in college he was at home doing something nerdy? Plus the hair......I mean come on. I'd also after Saturday's Heisman proceedings like to throw Billy Simms on that list as a huge dork. I mean as soon as they announce the canidates he starts throwing out "Boomer!" only with him it's not Boomer it's "Boomah!" and then as soon as they announce Leinart he says "I guess I can't say Boomah no more!" And then of course I had him and White yelling it back and forth at one another last year at the trophy presentation and I just had to look away. Now that's dorky. So who do you think is a huge dork and tell us why. This should be a funny topic.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Curt Schilling is probably the biggest nerd to ever play sports. He was a big D&D player in his younger days and he's still a video game junkie now.
Slayer Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Peyton Manning Seconded. His facial expressions on and off the field made me give him the nickname of "Mr. AwShucks" And while I've never cared for him as a player, he does make some good commercials. "Cut that meat! Cut that meat!" "Your defense is offensive!"
the pinjockey Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Donovan McNabb between his dancing and his "hyuk, hyuk, hyuk" laughs during interviews is quite the dork.

DerangedHermit Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Wayne Gretzky looked like the coolest guy ever and a nerd at the same exact time.
Guest Vitamin X Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Donovan McNabb between his dancing and his "hyuk, hyuk, hyuk" laughs during interviews is quite the dork. I disagree here. McNabb seems like an awesome guy. He'd be the guy who'd go to all the wild parties because he knew everyone there, but not really do anything himself, just relax and chill with some buds.
the pinjockey Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I am not saying he wouldn't be fun to hang out with, but that doesn't mean he isn't a dork. I see him as being the jester of a group, which is always necessary.

Damaramu Posted December 14, 2004 Author Report Posted December 14, 2004 Whereas Peyton seems to go with the "Aww shucks" down home country boy look Eli appears to be going for the young "cool" guy with his wild hair and 5 O'Clock shadow. We all know Eli's a bigger dork....*looks at Peyton* ok maybe not. But something does run in that family.
1234-5678 Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 NFL: AJ Feeley and Ty Detmer NBA: Eric Montross and Tim Thomas MLB: Greg Maddux and Mickey Morandini
the pinjockey Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 How AJ Feeley (pre-trade, pre-multi-million dollar extension) got Heather Mitts is one of the great mysteries in sports.
the pinjockey Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Female soccer player. Reigning ESPN Page 2 sexiest female athlete.
Youth N Asia Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Although golf is by no means a sport...Tiger Woods
Slayer Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Reigning ESPN Page 2 sexiest female athlete. And with good reason I'd take her over Jennie Finch or Anna Pornakova (the two previous Page2 winners) any day
teke184 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Does this count commentators? If so, Dick Vitale wins in a walk.
Damaramu Posted December 15, 2004 Author Report Posted December 15, 2004 Does this count commentators? If so, Dick Vitale wins in a walk. Yes it does. Because Trev Alberts is a pretty big dork. The guy referred to himself as Trevie at one point. And then there's Lee Corso. I know he's eccentric but it's pretty god damn nerdy as well.
Vern Gagne Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Baseball is full of nerdy writers. Bill James, Peter Gammons, Tim Kurkjian.
Guest bigm350 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Peyton Manning reminds me of Forrest Gump; seems like a slow-witted Southerner.
therealworldschampion Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Does this count commentators? If so, Dick Vitale wins in a walk. Bill Walton should count as well.
Vern Gagne Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 At least Bill would admit he's a dork. Peter Gammons tries to hide it with his music interest and playing guitar with Huey Lewis on Sportscenter.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Baseball is full of nerdy writers. Bill James, Peter Gammons, Tim Kurkjian. Aren't writers as a whole generally nerds?
Guest bigm350 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 How about Barry Melrose and his pseudo-mullet?
MillenniumMan831 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Even though he retired, John Stockton seemed like a pale ass dork w/ no personality. He plays basketball, tried his damndest to look pissed, and looks like he goes home and reads the Goosebump books.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Not a real sport, but Tony Hawk looks like a complete nerd.
Special K Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Tiger Woods Tony Gwynn McGwire looked very nerdy before he grew his goatee and added all the muscle. Edgar Martinez doesn't look nerdy or anything, just like a regular Joe, but his interviews are so earnest it's ridiculous. Chad Pennington has the goofy southern boy thing too. McNabb has the best laugh ever.
the max Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Brandon Arroyo looks like a kid that asked me for bus money at the mall yesterday. This kid had a "C:\DOS - C:\DOS\RUN - RUN\DOS\RUN" shirt on. Anyway, Brandon looks like a dweeb.
