ChrisMWaters Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 One thing I'm hoping for this year is that Hurricane lasts longer than both his other times COMBINED.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 I'd like to see Shelton Benjamin be the ironman or Christian or for comedy's sake, Eddy be the ironaman. I think Hassan will be #30. two spots are left to be filled in the rumble for Smackdown and I'd love for it to be Paul London and Akio/Kidman/Chavo; I'm certain the Bashams will pick up those spots.
ChrisMWaters Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 I'd like to see Shelton Benjamin be the ironman or Christian or for comedy's sake, Eddy be the ironaman. Eddy would work. After all, Guerrero DID win the Smackdown Rumble to get the shot against Brock at last year's No Way Out...
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 The Ironman should be Viscera, have him came out early, get knocked down by someone, and just lay flat in the ring till the end. When...Batista picks him up and throws him out. Or have Coach be the Ironman, he comes out, and joins JR and Tazz for the whole match, until the end.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 JR/Tazz are doing the rumble. Not JR/Lawler. I do believe The Coach will last longer then he has any right too, either he does the chickenshit coward sell or actually competes and lasts awhile on sheer luck.
bob_barron Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 guess no mo old timers They can't since each brand only has a limited number. Enough deserving wrestlers are left out each year
bob_barron Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 I do believe The Coach will last longer then he has any right too, either he does the chickenshit coward sell or actually competes and lasts awhile on sheer luck. Coach getting his ass destroyed the whole match but somehow managing to avoid getting thrown out would be a great running gag. Or just have Coach charge in and someone chuck him out on momentum. He's obviously in there to inject the usual Rumble comedy spots
Kahran Ramsus Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Or just have Coach charge in and someone chuck him out on momentum. You mean like Mo? My guess is Coach ends up alone with Kane at some point and gets slaughtered.
ChrisMWaters Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 I say that Coach gets eliminated by Hurricane as soon as he gets in the ring (he being Coach) Just to give Hurricane the status of not being the job boy of the rumble like in 02 and 04.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 I did something for fun, even though we still dont know the final 2 spots for the smackdown side; I went ahead and slid in both Bashams and had three random drawings just to see how it would turn out to be... The first random drawing was via Alphabetical order Randomly Drawn 1. The Hurricane 2. Ric Flair 3. Gene Snitsky 4. Hardcore Holly 5. Mark Jindrak 6. Eddy Guerrero 7. Scotty 2 Hotty 8. Rene Dupree 9. rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Your concept of fun alarms me. As for the Rumble, I can see Edge ensuring HBK doesn't make it to the Rumble, thus ensuring a surprise guest.
Fökai Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Batista, Booker T, Charlie Haas, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christian, Dan Puder, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Gene Snitsky, Hardcore Holly, Jonathan Coachman, John Cena, Kane, Kenzo Suzuki, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Muhammad Hassan, Orlando Jordan, Rene Dupree, Rey Mysterio, Ric Flair, Scotty 2 Hotty, Shawn Michaels, Shelton Benjamin, Simon Dean, The Hurricane, Viscera That's WWE list...and that's only 28. This probably means a combination of these are qualifying matches: -- Spike/Moore/London/Funaki on Smackdown. -- Bashams / Holly & Haas on Velocity. -- Akio v. Nunzio on Velocity.
Aero Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I'm pretty sure the Spike/Moore/London/Funaki match is a qualifying match. Winner is London .
Guest Trivia247 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Thanks to Mike Hendriks for this: SPOILERS For those of you who don't know, after the tapings last night, there is still a slot left open for SmackDown! in the Royal Rumble. Former WWF World Heavyweight Champion Iron Sheik is confirmed as of right now for the Royal Rumble. The WWE is keeping this quiet as to build suspense, as was stated earlier, but in an interview with World-Wrestling and Wade Needham, former the Iron Shiek said that he would indeed be in this year's Rumble match. Many do not know if this will be a one time gig or anything, but Iron Sheik will be wrestling under the SmackDown! banner this Sunday. More in this breaking news as it comes.
Aero Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Isn't Iron Sheik incapable of going over the top rope though? I remember reading that after he won WM X7's gimmick battle royal.
Guest Coffey Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Isn't Iron Sheik incapable of going over the top rope though? I remember reading that after he won WM X7's gimmick battle royal. Yeah, first thing I thought of as well. No way Shiek would win either. Perhaps he can come in as a mentor for Muhammad Hussan, but that clashes with several things. Hussan not being on Smackdown for example. Still, I'd mark out for the Iron Sheik making Hussan swing the Iranian Clubs and teaching him the ins and outs of the Camel Clutch. Even if the old bastard can hardly walk anymore.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 You guys are being worked.
alfdogg Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 London is on the WWE.com list now, so that's 29.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Its pretty abundantly clear that the 30th spot is purposely being left open for a surprise comedy apperence. Or they will just plug in Akio in that spot. Im shocked they didn't have Doug Basham Vs Danny Basham for the 15th and final SD spot.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 The Sheik thing has to be fake. I really don't understand why they would be bringing back Sheik. He is too old to do anything entertaining (as seen by his Gimmick Battle Royal appearance) and there are several more legends or comedy gimmicks that would get a better pop than he would. Throwing someone out there as Doink again would work better than Sheik.
BHK Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I'd mark out if the 30th entrant was Lesnar. That'll never happen though, it will probably be a comedy appearance.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Months ago I predicted Mysterio would win it. It looks like a better chance of that happening now, since really no one has been hyped as "must win" or "you know he'll win it". Hey, except Batista, but I predict he won't win, as much as I'd like him to. We'll see. It's gonna be quite good, IMO.
BHK Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Possible winners at this point, in my opinion: Edge, HBK, Benoit, Cena, Batista, Jericho
Ultra Violence Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I'd mark out if the 30th entrant was Lesnar. That'll never happen though, it will probably be a comedy appearance. The Twin Cities website is reporting that Brock Lesnar still hasn't heard from the Minnesota Vikings on whether he will get another tryout next year. Lesnar hasn't tried to pursue any other football opportunities such as NFL Canada or the European football league so one must wonder if the Viking's will ever consider him as a prospect. Lesnar has also been contacting WWE recently about a return. WWE has gotten the word out that they 'have no interest in him' at this time. That could mean he will be the 30th man for SmackDown! in the Royal Rumble. WWE higher-ups may be trying to keep this top secret. We're just not sure yet. It is being talked about though. I guess we'll have to wait and see and we'll hopefully confirm (or not confirm) this report sometime before the actual PPV.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I'd mark out if the 30th entrant was Lesnar. 2nded.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 "I guess we'll have to wait and see and we'll hopefully confirm (or not confirm) this report sometime before the actual PPV." Do us all a fucking favor. Start a new thread if you're going to spoil one of the biggest shock moments in recent memory.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 This would be a great way to debute Lesnar.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 The WWE has now screwed over any chance of debuting a returning star other than Lesnar, Hogan, or Austin. If either of those 3 are the 30th man, they'll receive mega pops. If Matt Hardy, Sheik, etc. come out......expect groans.
cawthon777 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 IMO, the match is set for Cena vs. Batista. Cena - killed Jesus at Armageddon and has beaten everyone since on TV - Kenzo, Dupree, etc - in pretty easy fashion. It's obvious he's done with the midcard and is in line for a push. The match with Jesus was comparable to Rock / Austin at IYH: DX and we all remember what happened with Austin the next month. Batista - Dominated the Elimination Chamber, pinned Benoit clean on Raw, pinned Viscera, beat Grenier & Conway in a handicap match, has an angle brewing with Triple H So based on that, I guess it's up to the WWE as to who needs the win more. Batista has his WM match with HHH, or at least a triple threat, pretty much in stone. I'd like to see Cena take the Rumble.
