Art Sandusky Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 ... and one of the people Sandra Bullock's character pulls up in a file of people scheduled for parole hearings in the film's 2032 time period (and made ten years ago) is Scott Peterson. No idea if anyone said anything about this before, I just thought it was neat and I'm sleep-deprived and yeah.
MrRant Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 That would have been just about as suprising as if she would have pulled up the name Joe Johnson....
1234-5678 Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 The real mystery is how they successfully predict Arnold becoming President. No, the real mystery is how to use the three sea shells.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 I always liked that movie, especially the "Brave New World" remarks. Good thread Kotz...
Art Sandusky Posted December 21, 2004 Author Report Posted December 21, 2004 It totally rocks all the way up to the "sex" scene with Spartan and whatever-her-character's-name-was. After that it kinda falls off for me, since that's the last gee whiz bit of information left about that future society.
Slayer Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 I don't want to live in a world without fluid exchange Also: Wesley Snipes-sicle
Guest Fook Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 Taco Bell winning the restaurant wars always amused me. Apparently in the future, EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY PLACE TO EAT is a Taco Bell. "Be well" and the non-contact high five were also great.
Vern Gagne Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 Does this mean Stallone framed Scott Peterson?
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 No. Some Puerto Rican guy did it.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Denis Leary being cast as the king of the underground people was a great job. Otherwise I hate this movie and Judge Dredd. Stallone and Rob Schneider do not mix.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 One thing I didn't like about the movie was that after the first few times there was swearing and that goofy siren would go off it stopped doing it. This slight oversight is what keeps me from giving it five stars...
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 One thing I didn't like about the movie was that after the first few times there was swearing and that goofy siren would go off it stopped doing it. This slight oversight is what keeps me from giving it five stars... I thought the idea behind that was since Stallone and Snipes said so much profanity; it killed the siren or we were supposed to infer that Stallone put a end to the siren deal at some point off screen.
BUTT Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 No. Some Puerto Rican guy did it. I thought it was a bunch of Satanists.
Highland Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Demolition Man is my favourite guilty pleasure. Awesome on so many counts.
1234-5678 Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Otherwise I hate this movie and Judge Dredd. Stallone and Rob Schneider do not mix. Please do not even compare the two. Demolition Man=Pure Genius Judge Dredd=Utter shit
NoCalMike Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I thought the swear sirens were mostly either inside public places or like at a public utility like an atm machine. I didn't think if you were running down the parkway there would be a random swear machine sitting on a tree trunk or anything. I always liked this movie and thought it was underrated. It is definately a guilty pleasure.
Vern Gagne Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Denis Leary being cast as the king of the underground people was a great job. Is Dennis Leary never not the outspoken rebel? Comediean, Underground gang leader, Firefighter, Police Detective.
Ripper Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Wesley Snipes saying "Set'cho ass on fi-ya!" is one of the greatest lines in the history of film and in that case, speach it self. I try to tell someone that I will set they ass on fi-ya at least 3 times a day....at least.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Friend of mine sampled a few things from that movie. Something to the effect of: "Oh SHIT! I love this gun!" The "you have been fined..." spiel looped and laid over one of Pesci's fuck-filled sadistic tirades from either Goodfellas or Casino, I can't remember which. "Jeffrey Dahmer? I love that guy!"
Guest HungryJack Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 EDIT :1 Demoliton man was prime. Denis LEary as some sort of rebel kingpin...not the best.
Jingus Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I think it was actually a scarily accurate view of political correctness gone wild, considering it came out in '94 before the PC craze fully kicked in. Plus, I salute any movie that somehow shoehorns Wesley Snipes, Denis Leary, and Jesse Ventura together on the same screen. "I'm the kind of guy who'd walk into a greasy spoon and wonder - "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of grave fries?" I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke Cuban cigars the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green jello all over my body reading playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the urge to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, and singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener." " -Leary, clearly writing his own lines.
