New Orleans and Utah should be easy, the Celtics may pose a little challenge. Detroit's going to be a tough game, since the Pistons and looking for revenge after their loss at the Palace. Clippers should really consider moving back to Buffalo, they are 8-3 against the East with two of those losses being Double OT games. That game was, at alternating moments in time, both the ugliest game and the most beautiful game I've ever seen the Kings play. Webber played some of the best defense against Duncan I've ever seen. Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted January 3, 2005 Anytime Peja is the primary option on offense, Sacto' chances of winning increase a decent percentage, I'd say. They don't win that game if Webber takes 20 plus shots. Not to knock Webber, he played extremely hard and did his job well enough against Duncan, I just think it's time to cut about 3 to 5 shots off his attempts per game and spread them out a lil more. That can't be right; didn't Rashard Lewis have two back-to-back fifty-point games against the Clippers to start the season? I'm reasonably sure that it was last season; I remember for three reasons: 1) Lewis was the primary scoring option because Ray was injured to start the season (this was, obviously, before Ronald Murray went off), 2) The games were played in Japan, and 3) Bill Walton making the off-hand remark that "Rashard Lewis could average fifty points a game, if he only played the Clippers." Are you saying that Rashard Lewis had two of the only three fifty-point games all of last year? Hell, I remember Jamal Crawford going for fifty, too, while playing in Chicago. That was it? Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2005 Sons of fucking bitches. There was NO need for that trade. I still believe that Zarko will be a good player in the league. He was having a great little run his rookie year after a impressive preseason and summer league showing his touch from outside, his ability to block shots and his ball handling all in his 6'11 frame. All he needed was to add weight to bang with the big boys inside. He had 17 points andwas embarassing the Mavs one night, and went to the hole and Danny Fortson fouled the SHIT out of him, breaking his wrist, and he was never able to work his way back into the suns rotation after coming back from his energy. Right now, all of the suns starters are playing 34+ minutes a game, and playing the style they do, eventually they are going to have to look to their bench and a 6'11" guy with offensive skills would have been really useful. But seeing as they have Marcj Lampe I guess they figure one 7 foot jumpshooter is enough, and since Lampe is bulkier and a bettter rebounder, they went with him. I just wish the kid would have gotten more of a chance. He wont get one in golden state either as he is basically what they have there anyway. But still, he is a 20 year old with alot of talent and I hate to see him traded for meaningless picks. And that is the longest post you will ever see on a basically meanigless trade. The salt just gets rubbed deeper in the wound. Everytime we keep hoping for a turnaround, we get stomped on by a tough opponent. The Spurs have been the only team outside of the one game against the Jazz and Sonics the Lakers haven't been able to get within striking distance of winning. To beat the suns you need A: Quick point guard to wear down steve nash and B: Scoring big man. They have lost to Sacramento(webber-bibby/jackson), Cleveland(Mcginnis - Ilgaukcas...however the fuck you spell his name) San Antonio(Parker/Duncan) and Minnesota(Garnett....and.....okay....this one didn't really work out...Hudson I guess) So basically, outside of the Minnesota game (where everyone just shot horribly) the formula holds. Mostly because Steve Nash has to have his energy for the suns to work, and Amare Stodemire is a HORRIBLE on the ball defender. Tinsley and Oneil will have big games, and they will need a third guy to step up. The suns have a mismatch at basically every other position on the court....it should be interesting. Bob Sura of the Houston Rockets, Jalen Rose of the Toronto Raptors, and Pau Gasol and Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies also are taking part in the $1,000-per-point donations, which will be made to UNICEF. "I first talked about it with Jermaine and Tracy right before New Year's. We talked about different ideas, and that's how it started," said agent Arn Tellem, who said he will match the highest donation made by any of the players. On Tuesday night, the Washington Wizards sold "Tsunami Relief Bands" for a minimum donation of $2, with all proceeds going to UNICEF. The Wizards wore the wristbands during their game against the New Jersey Nets. Bryant, McGrady, Miller and Gasol will base the size of their donations on the number of points they score in Thursday night's games, and O'Neal, Sura and Rose will donate $1,000 for each point they score Friday night. Tellem said the program, called "Shoot-a-Thon," hopes to raise about $250,000. The seven players who have pledged donations are all represented by Tellem's agency, SFX. "I think when more players find out about it, they'll get involved," Rose said. "Sometimes you hear a lot of horror stories about relief funds not getting to designated party, but in this case UNICEF will make certain that won't happen." Also, the Harlem Globetrotters plan to donate at least $100,000 and match funds raised by the sale of game programs during their 2005 tour to over 200 cities in the United States and Canada. The money raised will also go to UNICEF. "As concerned global citizens and ambassadors of goodwill, the Harlem Globetrotters feel strongly about doing something to help those who are suffering, especially the youth," Globetrotters owner and chairman Mannie Jackson said. Yes it is just hitting me now, because we're close to the all-star game and I thought the Suns and Sonics had been playing some spectacular ball. It's clear the top 3 teams are Phoenix, Seattle, and San Antonio, but debateable over what order. I still think the Lakers are seriously underachieving at this point, but getting beat down by the Spurs and losing that crucial game against the Heat (which would have been a hell of a morale booster) surely isn't helping to get things back on track. Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 I say that the order goes 1: San Antonio (although, i don't think they can beat Seattle consistantly) 2: Phoenix (I don't think they can beat San Antonio consistantly) 3: Seattle (they can't take Phoenix consistantly) 4: Timberwolves(even with the recent slide) 5: Sacramento 6: Lakers.
