Id have to say that the last few big matches left in the WWE are the follows:

Batista-HHH

Orton-Rock

Orton-Cena

HBK-Angle

Jericho-Eddy

HBK- Edge (I know weve seen this, but its the boyhood dream for the World Title isnt it)

Jericho-Cena (I know weve seen this, but when Cena was starting out and was vanilla, im refering to the status they have now)

To a lesser extent:

Regal-Eugene (if built up properly)

Batista-Kane (have they ever fought?)

HBK-Eddy

Have we seen:

UT-Angle in a 1 on 1 match? Apart from the 3 way with The Rock.

Have any of these been on TV? I mean, not in a pumped-up angle sort of way, cause I dont think they have ever been in pumped-up angles.

Batista vs. Kane had amatch on Armageddon 2002. And on RAW when Eugenes was GM.

I would cream my jeans for a Layfield/Dupree match. In a non-gay way.

Taker and Angle have had a few one on one matches - one of them was even the angle to do a triple threat match at Vengeance in 2002 (Angle caused Taker to tap out while he was being pinned).

Batista and Kane had a very bad match at Armageddon 2002

Also, I had a dream last night that the Bashams came to Raw to challenge La Resistance for the tag belts (?), so I guess that's techniclly a dream match.

As usual LT, thanks alot.

Wasnt a major angle though, so I guess they could hype it up. Just wont have that 1st match feel. :(

If he was employed, Hogan vs. HBK would be interesting. Who can no-sell more?

I completely forgot about that. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't think there are any more dream matches. There are alot of "Hey, that would be cool" matches, but nothing mind-blowing.

Well, except for Molly/Benoit.

Yes I agree, just like the good doctor said.

Taker has faced Angle quite a few times. In 2000 alone, they had two PPV matches against each other (Fully Loaded and Survivor Series).

Taker and Angle had a pretty good match on SmackDown in September 2003.

A dream match to me would definately be...

15+ Minute match between Chris Benoit and Charlie Haas.. I'd literally cream my pants for that match, thats a dream match for me.

Haas/Benjamin had a pretty good match in the gauntlet match at the 3/17/04 Smackdown. Benjamin beat him and Billy Gunn before losing to Rey Jr. I think.

Though it could never happen now, Hogan vs. Austin would have the potential to be the biggest match ever.

Rock vs. Savage would be great just for the promos and buildup.

In general, I'd personally like to see Triple H vs. Kobashi. Just TRY to no-sell the Burning Hammer, you roided-up son of a bitch. Just TRY.

Oh, and Angle's first big match was against Taker. He got squashed.

It makes me angry to think that back in 2002 and 2003, the WWE had the capability to put on a series of dream matches but were too busy having Hulk feud with Vince McMahon than put him in an actual money match against Austin.

As for my dream matches :

Austin vs Hogan

Austin vs Goldberg

Goldberg vs Undertaker

Lesnar vs Austin

HBK vs Angle

Angle vs Flair

Rock vs Cena

I've always wanted to see DDP vs Austin too, I think they could have an excellent match.

Austin fought DDP I thought the SD before the Invasion PPV. I might be wrong. DDP might've kidnapped Debra instead.

I'd probably list HBK/Angle as a 'dream match' personally, but it wouldn't be a particularly good draw IMO. The only real big money matches the WWE could do are ones where at least one of the workers isn't currently employed - Hogan/Austin, Austin/Lesnar, possibly Lesnar/HHH.

Outside of WWE, I'd have loved to see Joe/Kobashi (especially before Dec. 26th). Maybe Lyger/Mysterio.

The 1st 5 matches are excellent pics, truely dream matches, the 6th and 7th are the I would like to watch that type.

"Dream"=I want to see this match.

Draw possibility means nothing here.

Benoit/Danielson wouldn't draw like Austin/Hogan would but I'd TOTALLY rather see Crippler Vs The American Dragon over Austin/Hogan.

I got the impression from the first post that this thread was more about 'big' dream matches, the sort that can headline a major show, rather than the 'two of my favorite wrestlers squaring off' type of dream match.

Posted

Before either of them made TV in 02, Brock and Orton had a number of dark matches in the WWE.

I don't know how well the two would gel in the ring but I wouldn't mind seeing that match, assuming Brock returns in 05.

Hogan vs. Austin in their primes would be must see, but now Austin can barely take a bump without being hurt and Hogan hasn't exactly been mobile enough to have good matches like he did in the 80's when you didn't judge a wrestler by how high you can jump or how many moves you knew.

Posted

I hadn't been thinking about the possiblities of Benoit/Danielson or Joe/Kobashi...but I'd have to add them to the list of things I'd like to see.

Still, the next topic is going to be, what of tody's up and coming stars will never face off and lead to the next generation wanting them to face off in dream matches.

Goldberg/Austin in 98 would have pulled a million buys on PPV.
