spman 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Man, as much as I hate to see the death of the video rental industry (ok, maybe not the major chains like Blockbuster), I love it when the last few reamining mom and pop stores decide to fold and clear everything out. This one place near me started selling everything off today, and seemed to mostly want to get rid of whatever they had left rather then get a profit. DVDs were 3 for 20, VHS were 2 for 10. For about 70 bucks I picked up DVD: No Mercy 2003 The Stone Cold Truth Unforgiven 2003 Summerslam 2004 Backlash 2004 No Way Out 2004 No Way Out 2003 Judgement Day 2003 VHS: Wrestlemania 14 Canadian Stampede St. Valentines Day Massacre Royal Rumble 2000 Bashed in the USA Im drooling over the day the one last mom and pop place in town here closes so I can pick over their Coliseum Video and NWA Masters. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 To put it lightly, I kicked your ass last weekend at the flea market. Some guy's son (I guess) taped every WCW and WWF PPV up until the end of 2000. For $1 a tape, I got two events on each tape. I've been meaning to pick up all the WCW 2000 PPVs, so this was a goldmine for me. Wound up getting 12 of them, as the other stuff was all from 1998 and I didn't really want to relive those days too much.

Yeah, I've been collecting for years, between driving around to all the various video stores that have existed int he area over the past 10 years or so, I've managed to get copies of just about every WWF PPV, and quite a bit of WCW. The only real holes in collection at the hard to find In Your House Shows, and just about everything between 1998-2000. I'd still love to replace my worn out old first generations with masters though.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Is it me, or are the VHS's you got about 60 times better than the DVD's? (except for Bashed in the USA... horrible Coliseum Video)

(except for Bashed in the USA... horrible Coliseum Video) Heh, yeah the DVDs are mostly of really crappy recent shows, but they're still pretty expensive, so I picked them up regardless. MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Yeah, one rule I follow is that if it's cheap, it's mine regardless of the quality of the show. I've pretty much raided every mom and pop's video store w/in a 25 mile radius and now it's all down to Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. As for that last video store spman, I would try asking whoever is working there if you can purchase their wrestling tapes if no one ever rents them. I usually get rejected trying it, but once in a while, they'll cut me a deal.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 The Blockbuster Video near me has 3 Master Copies of WWF No Way Out 2001. It is a fantastic show. By the time WWE releases it, or re-releases it, whatever, on DVD, we will all be 20 years older. Will they sell me a fucking copy? NO! I've tried every manager. Jesus, when they want to sell me "Halloween Ressurection" and sell me a BAD movie, "HEY, TAKE IT!" But 1 of 3 tapes that hasn't been rented in like 3 years? NO! It will be mine. SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Is it just me or are an awful lot of people buying Unforgiven 2003 these days? It's a truly dreadful show, but I guess if the price is right...
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 8, 2005 It's Kevin Nash's gimmick "Vinny Vegas" I believe. How can anyone NOT recognize Harley Race?! Grr... And yes, if the DVD is cheap enough, I'd buy it. (hugs copy of the Game)
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 There's one place near me called 1st choice video that has a BUNCH of old Colliseum videos, every month or so I ask if they're looking to sell, nope. One time I cleaned out a video store that was liquidating their VHS stock, got around 20-25 tapes for close to 100 bucks.

That's why I'm so ashamed.....I knew it was Vinnie Vegas, the lounge singer, but not Harley? If I can paraphrase JR, "DAMN ME, HUNTER! DAMN ME STRAIGHT TO HELL!"
