JST 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 In a match that's already highly praised on the CZW boards, Crazy Crusher defended his EWR title against Hell Storm in a truly vicious Ladder Match, to which clips can be found by clicking here.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Watched this video last night and it's one of the most unbelievable matches I have ever seen. Almost any one of those spots could MAKE a WWE ladder match, but they go all out and do like 58453283 unreal moves. Wow.
Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Fuck some of those spots were insane, though I question the logic of doing those sort of moves in front of a few hundred people on an indy show. Doesn't seem worth the risk. For all the ridiculous, dangerous spots, I thought the coolest and most creative was when Crusher whipped Storm at the outside ladder, only for Storm to sprint up it then jump to the second ladder. Not that dangerous, pretty creative and something dofferent.
Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 8, 2005 The superplex onto the ladder was contrived, but still very sick. All the other spots, including the ladder slugfest where they bounced off the ropes to return to a vertical base on the ladder and the one guy getting caught in a Tree of Woe on the ladder to lose was good stuff. I'm interested in seeing this whole match, for sure.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Wow. Just wow. I hope the fans that were there sure appreciated the match. I enjoyed the music in the video package. It's not your typical wrestling music (mostly rock...or Creed), but still gave a sense of urgency in the match. Dames
Myxamatosis 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Holy shit....that's just amazing.
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Some of the spots were pretty cool. I really liked the the "run up the ladder, jump onto the turnbuckle, jump onto the other ladder in the ring" spot. Some of seemed overly complicated. When you have to rewind a few times in order to fully see what the spot was, there is a good chance it was too complicated. Simplier spots would have just as much impact. Using a Muse song for the video didn't hurt of course. There are a half a dozen Muse songs that I've always thought would work really well in certain wrestling highlight videos.
Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Holy shit. That goes above and beyond putting on a good match. Unless this was the end of a blood feud, most of that was completely unnecessary. If these two guys can put on a good entertaining match without all that shit, then I can respect doing what they did. If that is all they can do however, glorified stuntmen have no place in the mainstream wrestling business. Quite possibly both of those men need to be psychologically evalutated for 72 hours just to be clear in what mindframe they're in to do that. Maybe they worked the match out to where if successful neither of them would be seriously injured, but that seemed to be taking unnecessary risks for minimal long term payoff. Guest Iron Nick Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Don't worry, Crusher and Hell Storm can work good plain wrestling too. Crusher is a great Technical/High Flying wrestler and Storm is a great Technical/Strong Style wrestler... And yeah that match was great.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Those two are mentally unstable and just plain insane. I respect that. Two things, what the hell is that song and how can that match NOT end in a title change? I mean seriously.
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Two things, what the hell is that song and how can that match NOT end in a title change? "Time is Running Out" by Muse
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Loved the jump to the inside ladder spot as well. Cool stuff, thanks for posting.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 the fact that both of those guys walked away from some of that is beyond belief...specifically that superplex that looked like it could have killed one or both had they been off by inches. Same goes for the Cradle Driver (i believe) that just sent those two ladders flying. The ladder run/turnbuckle jump spot was only awesome because of the second guy's "HOLY SHIT!" run to get in the ring and shove the ladder over.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 ...my God, I even said "holy shit" every time one of those spots happened. Not chanting, but like "holy shit, I did not just see that." That right there totally reminds me why I loved wrestling. The music giving off that feel of do or die, the actual match giving off the sense that both men will take and give everything for that Belt of Gold, and some spots that just make you go "is this really fake?!" (exception being that superplex on the ladder, but still enough to make me go "oh fuck I didn't see that"). That was an insane carwreck. Glad to have seen it. Domo arigato gozaimasu, Tod. JST 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Good to see people enjoying it. To answer a few questions: - People most definitely enjoyed this match. Some were scared at times, (even I was) but both guys got the much deserved dose of respect from the crowd. - Hell Storm is one of the best pure wrestlers in the whole province, while Crusher is so versatile to the point that he can work any type of match and make it good. And these two are the toughest bastards you will ever meet. - I can understand those who say some of that stuff was unnecessary, but trust me, guys. I've worked alongside these guys for years now. I know them well enough to see that they know what they're doing, no matter how insane the spot. I've never seen them take a bad risk.
Banter 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Why did it seem like they were helping each other set up the ladder for the super-superplex spot? Some of the spots were totally unecessary, but very cool nonetheless. 6.9/
Guest DeadBoy1 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 What EWR dvd that is currently released is the best one to pick up?
JST 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Personally I'd go with Revolution 1.0 for the sheer crowd heat that is Steen/Daniels, and a nice violent TLC to boot. The full list is available at ROH's online store. By the way, confirmed for our February show; none other than current TNA X Champion Petey Williams.
Guest DeadBoy1 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Thank you for the suggestion! I'm not super familiar with the Canadian indy scene, so any suggestions are a big help to me.

SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 That was tremendous. Sort of makes WWE seem "minor league" in comparison.
Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted January 11, 2005 That was pretty horrible. Pile driver from the ladder to the top turnbuckle? Suplex from one ladder on to another? Anything else I couldn't make out from the video quality. I give these guys credit for trying to be innovative but the execution just ended up looking terrible. Plus I can't stand matches that involve more then just the two guys wrestling setting up props and stuff for the spots.Truly gives it the circus vibe with "and now for our next stunt we have idiot#1 who is going to let idiot#2 piledrive him on to a ladder that is stacked on ladders on top of a scaffold,Behold!" Gimme the RVD/Christian or RVD/Eddie ladder match over this anyday.
