As for how WWE is handling his character that is an entire different argument. I haven't really seen his wrestling work from OVW, and there is no way to tell his skills from last night's match. My question is: After last night's booking to show Hassan can barely beat a 50 year old non-selling douche bag, what does Hassan do now? I hope for the love of gawd he is never involved with JR/Lawler again, and moves onto a real feud. Also what is he going to do to start a feud? Pick out a wrestler from the locker room and try to say they have discriminated against Arab Americans? I just hope it doesn't lead to a Hassan/Sgt Slaughter WM match.....*shivers* So really though, what does Hassan do next?

That's why he got back into the ring to continue fighting despite being bloodied at last weeks episode of Raw. That's why he didn't tap out to any of the Camel Clutches last night. I have no idea what's next for Hussan either. I suppose he'll mention Lawler being just like America and how he triumphed over him despite him "never quitting." Someone will probably take offense to it, and it'll lead to another feud. It'll probably be someone who can bump and sell well to make Hussan look strong. So, I'm guessing it'll be, like, Val Venis. Hell, he might even talk about how Lawler is a legend and the match outcome would've been different a few years ago or something. Who knows? It's hard to tell what WWE will do nowadays.
jester Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I can't think of anything besides a random feud with a pro-USA face, or comedy matches with guys like Hurricane. This is a dead-end character and a dead-end gimmick as is. Now that they've booked him to be incompetent it's even worse. I predicted that they were going to book him like this (yeah, you hardly had to be psychic to work that one out), and it's going to be a career killer for Hassan. They might as well have made him Red Rooster II. Wait, as RRII he wouldn't be in the same danger of getting beat up by a deranged fan. So it would actually be a step up.

Hell, they did this back during the Gulf War too. They just need the patriotic, sypathetic babyface character, and it'll be a natural feud. It'll probably be Shelton Benjamin. He was kindof "pro USA" by his association with USA Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, so they could roll with that. I suspect it won't be too long until Muhammed Hussan teams with La Résistance however.

Of course, it's been reported that he's been using it at house shows for some time now, so it's not like it's new news. His finisher was Kanyon's old Flatliner. Scott Steiner even used it for awhile. Very lackluster.

"I just realized something JR, Steve Blackman Must have no friends, if he had friends they would surely come out and help him". thats what reminded me. How the both of them got beat down for a solid 5 minutes and no one made a run in to save them. Not one face. are we then to assume that JR and Lawler have no friends in the back?

I think the gimmik is pretty tasteless. If they wanted to make him an arab disgusted over the situation then that's fine. Allowing the character to actually say "The US got what it deserved" is just real bullshit. Its why if I was one of the soldiers over in the middle east and the WWE came to put on a show at my base, I wouldn't want them anywhere near it.

Maybe they'll form a stable of the gimmicks that got pushed hard at first but were quikcly forgotten about. At least Hassan had a Pay Per View match. Simon Dean had what 2 or 3 appearences on RAW, 1 match, and then nothing but Heat?

One of the most memorable fueds in the past few years was Angle/Taker, which was started when Angle accidentally threw milk on Taker's bike. Heck, maybe someone will mistake Hassan's head scarf thing for a handkerchief, and blow his nose in it. I don't know.

If you gave him a gimmick like Benoit (pure wrestler), he'd flop asap. people hated iron shiek and nikolai in the 80's with the SAME gimmick. and if he's making you or others pissed, then he's doing his job. I don't support what he says but I LIKE the charachter cause for this time and age, that's what "supposedly' the Enemy looks like. Blame the media and the current state of mind for influencing WWE. And lastly, wrestling is built on gimmicks like this. Didn't Fritz Von Erich play a Nazi?!!?

What kills me is how they drive home the point that his character is an American of Arab heritage yet the crowd still does the standard "chant USA at the guy bad-mouthing America" bit. I was waiting for him during the debate to just turn to the crowd during a USA chant and be all "I'm from America, dumbasses".

The thing is though, for the gimmick to REALLY work they need to push this guy hard - which means, as JMA has theorized, that they push him as an upper-level heel, and I just don't see that working (for a number of reasons, several of them ending in the word "HHH"). And Daivari needs to start yelling out "JIHAD!!! JIHAD!!!!" to signal the end of the match. That would be money, I have to admit.

It's retarded to handcuff a guy like Jericho with a green slug, hopefully, if he really does blow, they'll realize it before putting him over anyone important.
