Hogan and Rock possibly teaming at WM?

Recommended Posts

Guest Loss

From the Torch site:

-Hulk Hogan, Brian Nobbs, and B. Brian Blair were backstage at the Smackdown tapings last night just to visit. There continues to be talk of Hulk Hogan being involved in WrestleMania. There is a talk of Hogan and Rock teaming together, or Hogan being honored with induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. With so many wrestlers living in the Tampa area, it's not unusual for Tampa WWE events to be a virtual High School Reunion of sorts.

It's one of many possibilities actually, but that could be the kickstart the tag division needs to be rebuilt. What team would make a good candidate to go over the Hogan/Rock tandem? Only Benoit/Jericho or Booker/Eddy would be over enough, but there are logic problems there on both fronts. Benoit and Jericho decimating Hogan and Rock at WM as heels would be an awesome sight to see, but Benoit going heel isn't the best idea. This is too big of a match for La Res, the Bashams, etc.

Hogan and Rock v. Snitsky and Hiedenreich.

buildup: Brooke gets pregnant, Snitsky kills the baby and beats her down, Hogan makes the save. tell me that wouldn't draw money ;)

Ah, but with La Resistance, you have some continuity to work with, such as Sylvan Grenier refereeing the NWO 2003 match between Rock and Hogan, as well as Rock warring for one show with La Resistance, with Rhyno, Tajiri, and Coach also involved. Another positive is you could possibly get a decent series going between Rock and Conway, making the match possibly above average. Another possible team is Christian/Tomko.

I don't know if it's enough to revive the tag division, though. Rock and Hogan working a tag match for one night versus one of the possible championship teams is nice, but it doesn't help the rest of either division, both of which is entirely heatless. Of course, if the WWE thinks that with Rock/Hogan, they'll probably wind up booking another 4-way tag, like they did last year (twice).

I could imagine the sadly funny scene....

Vince is hugging Rock and Handshaking Hogan, they talk about Plans and stuff for WM 21 and there is B Brian Blair out in the corner..

Vince: uhh, Quite Frankly Who are you?

Blair: Hi Vince, Remember me, Im B. Briar blair

Vince: ???

Blair: You know, one half of the Killer Bees?

Vince: Ohhhh thats uh Nice, How is that working for you? (psssst security, unauthorized personel, get the tazer)

After B Brian Blair wakes up in the back alley way stunned and bloody, Vince in his office remembers wait....I remember the Killer Bees Jumping Jim Brunzel! and the other guy.

Hogan/Rock vs. Edge/Christian would be pretty awesome. But I'm for anything. I'm sure Hulk will make the deal so that Brooke does the national anthem.

You stole my idea.

BUT, will Hogan actually lay down for someone? Especially at WM?

I can see them doing Rock/Hogan vs Vince/Shane.

Don't get me wrong - I don't like the idea, but I could definitely see them doing it.

I can't see anything suggested in this thread happening, everyone mentioned is far below Rock/Hogan on the radar.

the obvious match is Rock/Hogan v. Orton/Flair

With current trends I don't think Orton and Flair

Maybe Batista and Flair

Hogan/Rocky vs. Flair/Austin

It's the type of match that would have a "WrestleMania feel" to it, since Hogan/Flair and Rocky/Austin are two of the most remembered feuds from the last twenty years. Not only that, but it wouldn't actually put people who should be doing more with their time at WrestleMania, in a pointless match.

I'm sure more than a couple of folks would order a PPV based on that match alone.

Unless Flair turns on HHH and joins Orton.

There's history there too. Hogan/Edge have a history, and Rock/Christian have a history. It's just a matter if they would pick up on it.

If they aren't going anywhere with Edge and the title then they might as well have him and Christian get back together and be goofy again. This Edge shit trying to be Triple H circa-2001 isn't working very good. It would be the perfect place to really sky rocket either Edge or Christian as well, by just having them work a program with these two guys...even if they don't come out on top.

I wouldn't mind HHH/Flair vs. Hogan/Rock at all. But then I have no idea what you would do with the title, or what you would do with the rest of the guys on Raw. There's really nothing at all worth having on Smackdown for Hogan/Rock to do as a tag team, so you might as well put over new guys on Raw at Mania.

Benoit/Orton

Batista/HHH

Rock/Hogan vs. Edge/Christian

HBK vs. Angle

I dunno what else, but that wouldn't be too bad.

It's too bad that they couldn't keep Hogan/Rock as a regular tag team because that would easily add intrest into the tag team division.

I like putting Austin in there so we get our Hogan/Austin stuff but I really don't know about Flair/Austin. It wouldn't make any sense.

Maybe Austin and a newer guy..Benjamin? He did that segment with him on Raw before he beat Triple H...that was the last time Austin was on the show...

Eh, it makes sense to me. It just makes the entire match feel more complete, like it's coming full circle or something. Two of the most popular feuds ever, four of the most popular wrestlers of all time, all in a single match. That sounds good to me for a WM.

Hogan and Rocky wouldn't be staying around for any period of time anyway, and neither would Austin if they could even get him to come in for the match. That's why I don't think it would be worth the time putting Hogan/Rocky in a match with guys who will be around past WM and more than likely years to come. Guys like that need to be fighting others who will be around, in heated feuds that actually mean something and lead somewhere.

I'm firmly behind Hogan/Rocky being a part of a match that is more for the novelty of it, instead of trying to make it mean something bigger. Unless Rocky/Hogan can stick around, that's the type of match this should be IMO.

With that said, I doubt Austin would even do it, so that there makes all of the above pointless jabber.

This Edge shit trying to be Triple H circa-2001

You mean HHH circa. 1999? Edge's character isn't really anything like HHH 2001.

1999, 2001...whatever. You get my point.

Edge trying to be GRRRR just doesn't work.

Completely disagree. His character is the best thing on RAW IMO.

I haven't got on it. Even back over the summer when he did that really intense promo with Orton about how he was going to take all of Evolution out...I didn't buy it.

I remember he did this one promo in the back where he took the mic and started takling to people backstage or something...it was so boring and just not his character.

And also the promo he did the middle finger in...I don't want to boo or laugh at the guy...I just am like "...yeah."

I thought there were going somewhere on Raw by HBK talking to him about how he needs to kind of "Just do it" and quit bitching..and I think that could of set up a face turn for Edge, but they aren't going that route.

It's not exactly like the fans care about him either...they weren't chanting "You Screwed Edge" on Monday Night to Shawn, ya know?

Other the Hall of Fame induction, I don't think Hogan should be at Wrestlemania, nor the Rock. Let the matches go to those who have been working with the company this past year. They are the ones out there every night and they are the ones who deserve matches. No disrespect to Hogan or the Rock, but they need to stop stealing the 'Mania spotlight from those who are earning it.

But with Rock and Hogan are on the card, more people buy the show. Period. They're two of the biggest draws in the history of wrestling, and Vince certainly wouldn't turn down the extra profits.
