I just saw an ad for the new special 2-disc edition release of Predator 2 and I will admit to not have seen this movie in quite some time, but from what I do remember, it was a damn good flick, and Danny Glover definately impressed. Of course nothing will beat the Predator in the jungle setting with Arnie and his band of mercenaries, but Predator 2 was very good in it's own right too. I think I am going to pick this up on January 25th......it should also be noted that Amazon: Predator 2 page has the movie listed as being rated NC-17. :headbang:

People seem to hate Predator 2 in the same way they hate Alien 3 – since both films' predecessors were a certain kind of film, people expected the sequels to be more of the same. When they were given something a little different they just freaked out and crapped all over them, instead of giving them their due.

Predator 2 isn't the best film ever or anything, but it's a fun little ride, and I was much more excited to see a different kind of outing for a character I loved, rather than a second-rate, carbon-copy of what worked before.

Although nowhere near the awesomeness of the first movie, I liked how the sequel took an opposite extreme in regards to the Predators hunting.

Pred. 1: Hunting a white special forces guy in the jungle.

Pred. 2: Hunting a black cop in the city.

I always liked the "Who's next" line at the end of the movie, too...

I don't know. Its just something about one predator taking out a whole crew of sterioded up heavily armed commandos and someone as Kickass as billy, and then this one having so much trouble beating fucking Murtaugh.

Its like watching Eraser and seeing Arnold beat the shit out of hundreds of heavily armed guys and James Caan is kicking his ass at the end.

Bear in mind though that in Predator 2 there was Busey and his high tech dudes that weakened the Predator before Glover really had to mess with him. Glover spends a lot of the film figuring out "What the hell is going on? Who is killing the drug lords?" and all that. Glover was a lot more intense than in the LW series, certainly a long way removed from the hesitant family man Murtaugh. I'm not sure people really accepted him in that sort of role, and might be why Predator 2 didn't do real great business.

The original Predator has always been sort of a problem film for me. I mean, I like it but there's just something about it I never cared for. Maybe it is the way the film starts seemingly 40 mins with them shooting everyone up in the jungle, and then halfway through here's the alien. It's a bizarre transition that I never thought totally worked.

Dude...Billy said "fuck this, i ain't running from this invisible bitch" threw down his gun and manned up on a mutha fucking log against the predator with a knife.

That brings man tears to my eyes. MAN TEARS.

If that doesn't touch you a little, then dammit...you just aren't human.

That scene alone makes Predator a great movie.

Yeah, and he got his ass kicked. Stupid hippie Indian.

You saying a strong black man (ok, it is Murtaugh, but let's skip over this fact) can't take out a Predator? Racist...

Lol, I thought that scene was bad ass at first...

but than you heard him scream like a bitch. He would of gone down as a badass if we didn't hear him scream like a girl as he was getting killed.

Not if the thing could over come the combined powers of Bill Duke and Carl Weathers.

And Billy did NOT scream like a bitch. He screamed like a man. A manly man.

well Bill Duke got caught slippin...but usually he is a brotha we can all be proud of..."you know you done fucked up, don't you?" will go down as one of the greatest lines ever spoken by a black man on film...well that and "where all da white women at?"

Billy was the real hero of Predator without a doubt.

Took out the knife, sliced his chest and basically said, "alright, let's go bitch".

Granted, he died but come on.

He went face to face with the devil.

Dutch went pussy and played hide and seek.

Billy > Dutch

Ventura ruled in Predator.

"This stuff will make you a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me."

"I ain't got time to bleed."

*Halloween 3 rings a bell*

The "Halloween" movies were always planned to have different stories. It was with the popularity of the Myers character that a sequel was chopped out.

The third one doesn't suck as bad as everyone claims, its just a bad movie, a Charles Bronson movie with killer masks instead of Myers slicing people up.

It's not like Halloween 3 slowed down the releases of such gems as...Halloween 4...Halloween 5...Halloween 6...Halloween: Scream (I mean H20) and Halloween: Reality TV.

But anyone here ever play PREDATOR 2 for Sega Genesis? You got to control Glover and take him to the alien spaceship, among other cool locations.

Heh, I kinda doubt it. They were just pals from Nam, I think.

I wasn't against Predator because of Duke and Ventura however. They were awesome. I just never cared for the way the film just out of nowhere shifts from a South American shoot up the drug cartel type film into a sci fi alien film.

I've never been more serious about anything in my life. After a few years I recently watched this movie again and they seemed a little "too" chummy.

Chalk it up to that damn liberal Hollywood elite crowd trying to tell the rest of us how to run our lives by plugging hidden political commentary in-between bloody deaths...
