'Moesha' Actor Dies In Car Wreck

Thursday January 20, 2005 7:42am

Los Angeles (AP) - A car crash has claimed the life of an actor who had a role in the TV sitcom "Moesha." His manager says Lamont Bentley was killed in a car wreck when his car plunged off the San Diego Freeway in Los Angeles Tuesday night. Susan Ferris tells The Associated Press that Bentley was thrown from the wreckage and was the only person in the vehicle. He was 31 years old. Bentley played Hakeem Campbell, Moesha's longtime friend in the TV sitcom which starred teen pop-star Brandy. In addition, Bentley appeared in a number of films, including "The Wash" and "The Breaks." He also played Tupac Shakur in "Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story."

Bentley was a native of Milwaukee and father of two daughters. He began his career in Hollywood after moving to LA with his mother, who was an aspiring singer.

R.I.P I guess...but Moesha sucked ass.

I would bet you never watched it.

I mean, yeah, you are right, it was quite good at the ass sucking, but still....i felt the need to be combative.

Guy was a pretty decent actor who just happened to get stuck in some bad projects. He was one of the few bright spots in "Tales from the Hood" and "Moesha" (god that show was awful).

This sorta reminds me of the time that woman who played Myra on Family Matters died. Too damn young to go the way they did.

Horrible way to die, but the show really sucked. I'm glad my local WB station no longer airs the re-runs.

I had a heart attack thinking I was about to live in a world without Brandy.

The broad expanse of Brandy's forehead makes her a perfect candidate for a facial. Can't you imagine your semen dripping down that billboard she has atop her noggin?

You could autograph her head.

So many questions. A Hammer movie? Why is Tupac in a movie about Hammer?

Ahmed Johnson played Suge Knight.

This is going to sound odd, but playing Tupac in a movie is a huge jynx.

Anyone remember the VH1 movie that was basically ripping off the story of Biggie/Tupac? Merlin Santana the guy from Steve Harvey played the Tupac role in that movie and he died last year. Now this, I would not want to be the guy casted to play Pac when they make a movie about him.
