Wrestlers that are thought of more highly

I don't think I've seen this topic done before so here goes. This topic will be all about wrestlers that are thought of more highly with their peers than what the internet fans themselves think of them.

I'll start it off with Christian. So many wrestlers will name him as one of their favourite wrestlers to work with but yet he's not loved nearly as much by net fans.

I doubt many wrestlers loved working with him. The fact he was the stiffest wrestler of his time must've really made people jump for joy.

I'll throw an obvious one in: Triple H. Outside of RVD, I've never heard anyone say bad things about Triple H. Wrestlers past and present always praise his hard work and love for wrestling.

Well nobody present would be stupid enough to trash him. But I agree that HHH works hard, is good in the ring with guys, etc. Just saying that I wouldn't expect a current roster guy to even THINK of bashing him in an interview.

I'd say Lance Storm. He never really caught on with the mainstream fans, but I believe was really respected by everyone in the business for being a good, hard worker.

Meltzer said that in the Hall of Fame balloting, the overwhelming majority of current wrestlers who voted would put him in the hall.

Even under the protection of anonimity, most guys won't trash him and will say they think he's earned his spot.

Harley Race comes to mind. At least with more recent fans.

Interesting as I'm an A-Train fan. What do all the wrestlers say?

I've just heard that he is extremely pleasant to work with and that he is careful in the ring (He sells things well, makes things look painful when he's really protecting his opponents). He is an under-rated wrestler IMO. That's a personal opinion though.

Oh for sure he's underrated. He's got a following among some fans on the internet.

Austin especially used to think highly of A-train

This may be a hard one to swallow: Hulk Hogan. It's mainly fans (or "smarks") that don't like him, but the majority of wrestlers over the past few decades have good things to say about him.

Undertaker as well. Though obviously not highly enough to show ass for him in their matches.

Did Austin ever have a match on T.V. with A-Train (or whatever alias he was under at the time)? Most of late 2000-2001 is a blurr, and I don't recall a match between them in 2002.

Dennis Knight aka Mideon.

Only really took off as Phineas Godwinn in an era where nobody was watching.

The workers always loved the guy, but I can't remember thinking he was anything special

Management and most of the wrestlers seem to love Kane but he has only got minor praise from the internet fans. In fact, Chris Jericho called him one of his best friends in the business and loved working with him. Undertaker loves him. X-Pac just said he loved working with him also.

I could understand that. Outside of the fuck up at NWO 2003 (Regal dropped wrong on a slam attempt, KO'ing him), I don't think I've seen Kane ever injure or stiff anyone. He's also very cooperative (he sold for Matt Hardy like he was the Undertaker) and is a "yes man".

I think the wrestlers really liked him as a person. Foley has said that he is a really funny guy. But I've never heard anyone say anything about his ringwork. Mideon is kind of like a fat chick who people say has a great personality. He is a good guy who can't work.

I do believe Foley said that Knight was God awful in the ring, but one of his favorite people backstage.

Re: Kane

Most of the people I chat with outside of TSM about wrestling agree that Kane deserves a run with the World Heavyweight title, and could have been bigger than he already is if he wasn't booked like such a complete joke for most of his career.

It seems to me that most people who get political power are liked by fellow wrestlers but not so much by the internet crowd. Triple H, Hogan, and Nash for example.....but I love Trips and ESPICALLY Hogan.....as for Nash Im with everyone else.

I think hating on hosses is the in-thing on message boards. I'm sure most people think TNA hosses like Abyss or Kevin Northcutt suck, but were pretty good. Northcutt was pretty green, but improving a lot by the end of his run, so the most logical move was letting him go and keeping Ryan Wilson.

He's also known for being no steroids whatsoever and everyone goes to him for advice on supplements, workouts, shit like that. One thing about Glen Jacobs is he's always been in fantastic shape. I especially remember when he came back the night after Summerslam 2002 in MSG on Raw...he looked awesome.

IIRC, he dropped 20 or 30 pounds during his injury hiatus. Most guys usually come back 15-20 pounds bigger (cough:Roids:cough).

Booker T and Storm and Bret Hart are usually praised for never hurting anyone, yet not having their stuff look too loose. Fit Finley and Regal also have reps, and aren't that highly thought of, probably.

You ever see a Lance Storm chairshot? That probably doesn't count, but just wanted to bring it up.

Storm is thought of highly by fans I think (well... smart fans), so I' just going with something fans don't think highly of. Worst... Chair shot... Ever.

HHH, Hogan and Nash are all liked for totally different reasons. I've never heard anything about Nash related to wrestling. All I've heard is guys like Austin and foley praise for how funny he is out of the ring, nothing wrestling related. Hogan is loved because a program with him guaranteed a big pay day and a very hot crowd. HHH is praised because of his love for the business.

In foleys first book, he mentions how dave sullivan was well liked by the boys in the back but he was a horrible wrestler he even said that he was such a nice guy that everyone would say how nice he was before mentioning that he sucked in the ring
