True Events, Remakes, & Sequels: Your Picks

Simply pick which true event, remake, and sequel you would most like to see OR you are most looking forward to and why. Recently in Hollywood, there have been alot of these, several being pretty successful, and some, like with anything, not so successful. So what are your picks and the reasons for them?

 

As For Me...

 

True Event--I would like to see a story revolving around the life of a firefighter before and after September 11th. Before that tragic day, they were just heros, and afterwards, insprational stories and leaders for not just America, but for the entire world. I know Ladder 49 came out not too long ago, but this one would touch a much deeper level, in my opinion.

 

Remake--I would like to see a remake of Smokey And The Bandit. I am a big fan of this movie, and I think it would do well once again at the box office. Billy Bob Thorton would make a great lead for the film, and bring in a few other good names, and you've got yourself a film that could supass what the origional never thought of.

 

Sequel--I would like to see a sequel to add to the Austin Powers series. This is probably my favorite comedic film series, and seeing some more of Mike Myers as Powers, Dr. Evil, Fat Bastard, and new characters would be a sight to see in my opinion.

True Event - a big biopic about the life of Nelson Mandela would be interesting, I guess. Can't think of anything else right now.

 

Sequel - Die Hard 4 is in the works already, that would have been a good choice. Peter Jackson could do 'The Hobbit', I'd love that. Still waiting for a sequel to Pulp Fiction. A sequel to Léon The Professional called 'Matilda' with Natalie Portman as the killer could be great. Oh, and I'm always 100% for additional Cowboy Bebop stuff, so I wouldn't mind a sequel to the great first film.

Watch Rescue Me. It's not a true story but it is based around how many NYC firefighters have handled September 11th extremely well.

 

 

As for the other two, I don't want to see a remake period. Unless it's a remake of something that really really sucked. Like Speed 2.

 

As for a sequel, X-Men 3 and the closer to the Three Mothers saga of Dario Argento is the only ones I care about. That's it. Nothing else matters in terms of sequels. Already got the Romero series coming.

True Event:

HAVE A NICE DAY. I want to see Foley's life unfold on the big screen, with Foley having a hands-on role. It shouldn't be any shorter than 2 1/2 hours, maybe even 3 full hours, and people WILL go see it. Wrestling fans will see it because Foley is loved by almost everybody, and after the reviews come out toting it as a heartwarming story of a man that sacrificed it all to live his dream, regular moviegoers will go see it (though not as many will).

 

Remake:

I'd like to see a remake done of Day of the Dead, particularly by the crew that just did Dawn '04. It would be extremely interesting, in my eyes, to see people try to round up the dead, as if they were cattle, when the zombies are faster than the living.

 

Sequel:

Ghostbusters 3. Dan Aykroyd's original idea coming to fruition, with the old team (Egon, Venkman, Ray, Winston) taking on a rival company new team (I guess some company successfuly creates their own ghostbusting equipment), and then teaming up to battle the forces of Hell once Hades enters Central Park to take over the world. That'd be fun.

Sequel - Another Jason movie. I can never get enough.

true event: They're already doing a Johnny Cash biopic, so I dunno. I wouldn't mind seeing a Kurosawa biopic or something

 

remake: I'd like to see a remake of And Then There Were None. Identity was the closest thing to a classic-style Whodunit we've gotten in a while, and, while an excellent movie, wasn't quite the same. I dunno who all I'd cast, but I think Peter Falk would be good as the detective.

 

sequel: The Rundown, Boondock Saints, X-men

True event: (1) The Barbary Wars against the North African Arab states in 1805-1815, great vehicle for sea battles, ship captain heroics. Would blow away Master & Commander if done properly. (2) military career of George Washington through the Revolution. Benedict Arnold would be a strong secondary character.

Remake: Captain America. Well, more like a brand new effort to right the wrong that was the piece of shit from 1991. At least everyone says it was a piece of shit, don't think it is available on video or was released in the U.S.

True story:The Fatty Arbuckle biopic Farley hoped to do would be very interesting. Lenny Bruce would be interesting too, come to think of it.

 

Remake: I'll take this as book adaptation. I want the Neuromancer adaptation that's been bumping around forever. I hope the Watchmen movie goes well, as a side note.

 

Sequel: Indiana Jones, first and foremost, X-Men 3, Bebop, and another season of Arrested Development! Another Austin Powers would be fun, especially for Seth Green's awesome character.

True Story: I want to see a bio flick about either Lucio Fulci or Stanley Kubrick. Also, maybe a film about Joy Division, or even the Ramones

 

Remake: Normally, I abhoir remakes, but I'd love to see an American Godzilla movie, only done right, with Godzilla portrayed as the indestructible, evil force of nature that the Japanese films have portrayed him, as well as with more citywide destruction, a monster for him to battle, radioactive breath-you know, the works.

Also, though it would most likely never happen, I would like there to be a film version of the hardcore horror novella "Goon"

 

Sequal: I'd love to see a sequal to "Dead Alive", with Peter Jackson as director

God Robert Englund is so good as a drunken child murderer. I don't know if he'd take that as a compliment. The only other guy that could touch him in that kind of character, and he barely ever approached it in any of his roles, was (seriously) Jim Varney.

Remake - The Running Man. The concept is great, especially given the reality show craze of today, and minus the 80s Ahnold cheese factor it could have been a classic. It was entertaining as it was, but it could be improved on a lot. The perfect type of film to remake.

 

Sequel - Sky Captain. I won't bother putting things that we know are getting sequels, but this movie unjustly flopped. I would say Master & Commander, but I feel that it will either be simply a repeat of what we already saw or that it will get into the more intricate plots of the novels and thus lose the magic that it had in the first place.

Agreed. It would be a REALLY dark movie, though.

If done properly, it would be an incredibly dark movie. It would likely be so dark that it turns off alot of the series fans. There are plenty that would like it, but there's surely a good chunk of the fanbase that wouldn't like a serious child murderer Fred.

 

Such a movie couldn't be done right, and not be NC-17.
