What players SHOULD BE in the NBA All-Star game?

Elton Brand, Forward, LAC

Elton Brand is really helping out the Los Angeles Clippers in a big way, and a majority of the success they have right now goes to him. He is averaging over 20 points a game, and in this month alone he is averaging a little less than 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks a game. When it comes to productivity for this team and teammates, Brand is doing a great job.

Steve Francis, Guard, ORL

In my view, he is one of the top 5 point guards in the league right now, and certainly one of the top 25 players in the league. Since the trade for Francis, the Orlando Magic has had a more than good year, and along with Grant Hill, Francis has done a great job of leading this team. He's averaging little less than 22 points and 7 assists a game.

Stephon Marbury, Guard, NY

I know that the New York Knicks are not having too much success. However, ever since when has that mattered in an All-Star game? The point is to honor the top players in the league, and Marbury is certainly one of the top guards in the league. He's already averaging around 21 points and 8 assists, and once he moves to shooting guard his points will only increase.

Michael Redd, Guard, MIL

Michael Redd is basically in the same situation as Stephon Marbury. Sure his team isn't doing too well, but he is doing great job as a player, and doing what he can for the Bucks. He is consistently scoring 20 points or more in a game, plain and simple. He is a more than reliable perimeter shooter, and probably one of the top 5 shooting guards in the league.

Chris Webber, Forward, SAC

How did this guy not make it? He averaging over 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists; one of only two players in the league to do so. He was the January player of the month. Sacramento is an amazing team, and on a squad of all-stars, Chris Webber may possibly be above the rest. He has returned well from injury, and will be a threat in the forward spot.

Who do you think should be on the NBA All-Star roster?

I agree with your list. Other people that deserve consideration on the all-snub team are Pau Gasol, Larry Hughes (I know he's injured), Mike Bibby, Jason Kidd and Chauncey Billups. So many guards having solid years.

Brand, Francis, Hughes, Webber, Bibby, and Gasol are the biggest snubs IMO. Marbury is putting up all-star numbers, but as a Knicks fan, I think that team's performance disqualifies him. If they hadn't gone on that huge slide I'd put him up there.

Jamaal Tinsley's name hasn't come up much, but IMO he's having a great season. He carried the Pacers when all those dudes were suspended, and is putting up fantastic all-around numbers.

Steve Francis, Chris Webber, Chauncy Billups (although Rip Hamilton would be an acceptable alternative, detroit's just got a great starting backcourt, sometimes the wealth is spread across the two of them which makes it hard to single one out. I give Chauncy the nod over Rip because of his many clutch shots, he's detroit's Mr Big Shot)

I like the teams the way they are. If I had to make changes, though, I'd put in Francis for Carter and Miller for Yao.

Carter is actually having a good season even though people don't want to see him there because of the whole Toronto thing.

The question is, with all these snubs, who do you take off the teams to add them. I would pull Yao, put Amare as the Center and add Webber as a PF, and Steve Francis should be there in the East, but outside of that, I wouldn't change a thing.

this year, with exception of some of the starters again, I can't complain. I was thinking people like Manu and Marion might get snubbed, but they didn't. The rosters are so small, someone is always not gonna make it. I was really hoping for Larry Hughes, but he's hurt. Brad Miller should be there and I would've like to see Bibby make it this year, but overall, I am pretty happy with the teams.

Chris Webber

Elton Brand

Brad Miller

Larry Hughes

Stephon Marbury

Jermaine O'Neal hasn't even played enough to warrant appearing, nevermind the reasoning behind his inactivity.

He only missed 15 games. larry Hughes will be there by allstar break. And he shouldn't have even been suspended in the first place.

The only real gripes I have are with the starters. Amare should be in over Yao. Ray Allen, Steve Nash & Dwayne Wade all deserved to start.

Personally, despite the fifteen game suspension for fighting, I STILL think that Jermaine O'Neal has played good enough basketball to start over Vince Carter.

I don't know if a player who punched a fan, no matter the circumstances, should be in the All-Star Game.

I don't mean to flog a dead horse but O'Neal wasn't in any immediate dager from some fat fan coming out on the court. Maybe if he had swung at Jermaine it would be less of a big deal, or if it was a Vernon Maxwell type situation; if someone had made remarks about my stillborn daughter they would be lucky to escape with their life, let alone a black eye.

Blah blah whine whine.

When 2 dugouts beat ths shit out of two drunk rednecks who rushed the field and beat up a first base coach, they weren't in any immediate danger, their coach was though. The times idiots have run on the football field and a player help stop them (Ditka style) they weren't in any immediate danger. When Jermaine O'Neil hits a guy that came on the court and hit a guy that was getting up from fighting with one of his assistant coaches, he is commiting a inexcusable horrendous act. Whatever. Dude ran on the court to fight, and he got in a fight. Bottomline.

And honestly, you have no idea what the hell the "fans" might have if they run on the court. They might have a knife or whatever. and if security doesn't have enough hold of the situation to restrain dude, the players have the right to not give the guy a chance to use something if he has it. fuck that fat guy.

I don't see how you can defend Vernon Maxwell (though I completely agree with you, i would have stomped the guy into the concrete) when all he had hurled at him were verbal insults and Oneil and his teamates were literally being physically attacked from every corner.

If you guys don't mind, I'd rather not hear this discussed anymore. It's bad enough, they're STILL replaying parts of it on SC, for God's sake.

And has everyone forgotten that Ray Allen missed 20 games before being named to the team last year? I like him as much as the next guy, but where were all the complainers when he was named to the team?

The bias bastard in me wanted Emeka Okafor to get a bench position, seeing as he has been having a pretty good season for a Rookie.
