Forgotten Moves

Recommended Posts

This is borne out of watching Christian/Orton on Raw. Christian had Orton in 1 corner, then proceeded to drag Orton to the other 3 corners in succession. Not once did he employ the "drag your opponents eyes along the top rope" spot. He could/should have employed that on any/all of his trips to the corners.

Thinking about it, I can't remember anyone using that spot in ages. Hogan used it a ton during his nWo days, and that's the last time I remember the move being used regularly.

Any other moves/spots that seem to have been relegated to the trash heap?

I noticed that people almost always kick out of Christian's Scorpion Death Drop, but JR always make it sound amazing when they do. Illogical.

I haven't seen anyone do the dragonscrew (?) since the Rock was using it a few years ago.

Torrie did an airplane spin against that Japanese lady on SD.

Yeah, Eugene had been doing airplane spins too up unil he injured his knee.

I miss that move Jericho used as a finisher for a while as a heel... He'd have the guy in a full nelson, then sweep the leg and spike him face-first.

The Breakdown.

He could never do it properly, it is good that it is gone.

Does Eddy do the Lasso from El Paso anymore?

I don't know why, but at the Royal Rumble I wanted someone to use a crossface chicken wing. I've been waiting for one in vain since.

He had a hard time with it, true, especially when wrestling bigger guys (which is most, considering Jerky isn't that tall).

But you know who did that move pretty well? Surprisingly enough, Grand Master Sexay. I remember him busting it out on Raw years before Jericho did it, and he got it spot-on.

The only reason I remember this was because it was the move I used as a finisher for my created wrestler on all the video games, yet I'd never seen it done in real life. So when Brian Christopher, of all people did it, I marked out.

I wish someone had a sweet DDT for a finish.

But alas...

I think it's a rule that the only person allowed to job to a DDT is RVD, and without him, it ain't happening. :P

Back rakes? Does that ever happen to anybody but Hogan?

Has anyone really used a bearhug recently?

I miss the Dragon Suplex, in 2000 Benoit use to do the Locomotive German with the Dragon Suplex as the last move. But suddenly Dragon Suplexes executed by professionals is just too dangerous.

where have all the gutwrench suplexes gone?

Delayed Superplex

Although to be fair I think CW Anderson was the only person that I ever saw use one of those

I'm thinking Mizark Henry was the last to do so.

JBL on Eddie.

Jericho's weak ass looking Enzeguri that he used as a finisher for a little while last year. I'm glad he dropped that.

i like that one, kinda like a standing shining wizard.

Shortly after the first brand-split, Jericho used a falling-sleeper hold neck breaker, that he called the Flashback. So, how many finishers has Jericho had now?

Walls of Jericho

Lion Tamer (I consider them different moves based on their execution)

Running Enziguiri

Breakdown

Flashback

Lionsault

Am I missing any?

Namely due to the fact that he never consistantly wins with any of them. The Liontamer was death in WCW. Now the Walls aren't anything more than a signature spot.

When Victoria first started wrestling in WWE, she used this move on Trish: standing outside the ring, she'd somersault over the ropes and drop her leg right on Trish's neck. It looked vicious. I think she only did it the one time, but it was nasty enough to be a convincing finisher.
