I didn't think we did a thread for what we thought were the best NFL games of the 2004 season. I thought there were a lot to choose from, but here are my picks-

NE 24-IND 17 from Week One

Both GB-MIN games which ended 34-31 on last second Ryan Longwell FG's.

ATL 34, CAR 31 in OT from Week 15

And under the NO DEFENSE ALLOWED! category:

CIN 58-CLE 48 from Week 12

and

IND 45-GB 31 where Manning and Favre combined for 9 TD's.

Which were overshadowed by 41-27, of course :D.

Steelers-Jaguars on Sunday night was pretty good. Ravens-Patriots was fun to watch because of the weather conditions. But I think nothing quite topped opening night, which did have a playoff feel to it.

The Miami - New England MNF game, only because it was great to finally see Brady fuck up in the 4th quarter and lose.

Eagles/Browns 34-31 OT game in Week 7.

Yeah I was thinking about putting that one in my list too, but I didn't like how it was basically just the Eagles holding off the Browns for the whole game except for the end.

And if we're talking playoffs here, the Jets-Chargers game was hands down the best game of the playoffs. Simply awesome.

Does anyone here think Eagles-Patriots was a good game? I'm undecided.

Though it was a game that was always going to mean nothing, the Arizona @ San Fran game in week 5 was quite good (not quality wise, but as a game, a good watch).

San Fran were down by 16pts in the middle of the 4th Quarter and came back to tie it and then ultimately win with a field goal on overtime, despite looking outplayed for the entire game.

Same game, because of the surreal nature of the crapass Dolphins beating the superbowl champs.

My pick would be the Jets-Rams game in Week 17. Not only did it go to overtime, but it meant so much to so many teams. The Rams needed the win to make the playoffs, the Jets thought they needed it to make the playoffs, and the Saints needed a Jets win to get them into the playoffs. I guess it definately helps if you are a fan of one of these teams, but after the Saints finished off the Panthers, I switched over to this game and was hanging on every single play.

Both New York Jet playoff games, which other than the Super Bowl and the Seahawk/Ram game, were the only competitive games of the playoffs this year.

Jets over Chargers 20-17.

Steelers over Jets 20-17.

I was at that game, It was a boring first half but the conditions did make it better I must admit. My clothes (jacket, sweatshirt, pants, boxers, socks, shoes were SOAKED) and Im not a fan of either team. It was just my parents couldnt go (season ticket holders) due to a funeral so I got to go, wore my packers jacket, didnt care.

I'll go with Falcons/Panthers OT game, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I think about Carolina not going into two-minute drill mode and instead playing for overtime. Panthers + OT + At Atlanta = Bad things...Michael Vick was down dammit!

I say the ATL-Panther game is my #1.

Up there were both Hawk-Rams games in Seattle and the Dallas/Hawk game on MNF.

I really liked the Indi vs San Diago game, duno what week it was but it was the game that Manning broke the record.

The Chargers played incredibly for 3 quaters but then Manning took over, and if I remember rightly threw a touchdown to tie the game and break the record with less than a min to go.

The game itself was really overshadowed by Manning getting the record, Indi ended up winning in OT

Giants/Dallas Week 17

Yea that was a great game albeit meaningless. Manning finally shut up the critics and put together a game winnig drive of epic proportions and the fact that they went for the win and let tiki take it in to break the record.

actually I enjoyed the Giants/packers game from early in the season as well

Go Giants 2005!
