The Electrifyer Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 I think Kenny Smith said that. And I found it hilarious when they were saying "Pay him back! Pay him back!" to JR for throwing Chris Anderson horrible passes.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Kenny was calling for Vince, Kobe and Lebron at the end, but I'd say Jason Richardson would smoke all of them. Throwing a ball off the backboard, catching it mid air, somehow having the hang time to put it between your legs and then throw it down > everything any of those guys ever did. I know he's not the name they are, but he'd destroy them in a dunk contest. As is, a couple of great dunk contests and I've decided that they should have three sections for it. Section 1, Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley Challenge where both stand down low and try to block the challengers dunk attempts. This of course ends up with them being dunked on repeatedly and gives a great in game dunker like Amare a better shot. Section 2, The Steve Nash Does All The Work Challenge. Steve Nash comes up with a wacky pass on the spot and you must complete a dunk off of it. Final section is just the players by themselves like a normal dunk contest. None of this will ever happen, but why the hell not? I demand it.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Did ya'll see the look on Lebron James' face during all of Josh Smith's dunks? I bet he wants to be in that contest now.

Maybe his competition wasn't great but he made the contest entertaining on his own in recent years.
mike546 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Who the HELL decided that the white guy should be in the dunk contest? I know Cena Writer said something on it earlier, but Ariza would have been a PERFECT choice for the dunk contest.
Brett Favre Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Ariza is being held down by whitey.
Golgo 13 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 As much as I like him, Andersen shouldn't have been in either year. He has hops but is the epitome of a game dunker who largely makes his living as an off the bench presence in the middle who can block and gather rebounds. I just think the NBA sees some marketability in the fact that he's a white guy with tattoos and wild hair who can make highlight reels.
The Electrifyer Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 So whats everybody's predictions for tonight? I'm going for the East to win a close one and Lebron to get MVP.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 It should be an even more fun competitive game than years past, but I still expect the West to come out on top.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Anyone interested in a live chat for this game?
Styles Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 So whats everybody's predictions for tonight? I'm going for the East to win a close one and Lebron to get MVP. Gilbert Arenas already predicted he'd be the MVP, so who am I to argue? EDIT: And, ENOUGH with the musical performances. People want to see basketball not an R&B concert. What is the obsession with this? Do we have to make this end as late as possible?
Exslade ZX Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Wow...Beyonce has these big basketball games on lock doesn't she? She did it last year too. Edit-....Kobe's gonna choke a bitch before this years over.
strummer Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Just like last night, the crowd is absolutely DEAD for the game, IMO it makes the NBA look bad to have no reaction to its "cavalcade of stars"
Styles Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Antawn Jamison with 2 straight baskets and some nice rebounding and the East is back in the lead!
The Electrifyer Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Vince Carter is filthy. Why must he do this as a non-Raptor though? *sigh*
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Wow...Beyonce has these big basketball games on lock doesn't she? She did it last year too. Edit-....Kobe's gonna choke a bitch before this years over. In all fairness, she was a pretty hot ticket last year with her solo debut and this year Destiny's Child just got back together.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Is it just me or is there more defense being played in this All-Star game?
Styles Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Awww man....the basket's had a lid on it for Gil this weekend. Usually makes those final possesion shots. And yes, I noticed more defense and just a more competitive feel to this game too.
The Electrifyer Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 What scoreboard is Marv Albert reading exactly?
mike546 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 The right one. The scoreboard was fucked.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Damned as much as Kobe was shooting them back into the game, everyone on the West squad seems to be shooting themselves away from it again, including Bryant. Looks like the East is going to get this one.
Styles Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Probably the most competitively played All Star game I've seen. There was a little bit of showmanship which you need, but otherwise there was a lot of parity. No one even scored 20!
Steviekick Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I was happy. Usually I get bored during the game, but I was actually into it a lot more than I expected. Props to AI for getting and deserving the MVP.
The Electrifyer Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I enjoyed this game as well. Nice and competitive and some sweet plays sprinkled here and there as well. I didn't know Grant Hill was able to alley-oop. I kept reading stuff talking about how he wanted to achieve it, but hadn't gotten up there yet. Nice to also see the East win one. I think it was the addition of "MVP" Gilbert Arenas that got them their.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Probably the most competitively played All Star game I've seen. Nah, 2003's was more competitive, but it was still a good All Star game.
Damaramu Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I saw this thing on Sports Center that said Steve Nash has scored the most points without dunking but.....can Nash even dunk? Has anyone seen him get himself up there? Oh and this local radio guy hates AI. He says he's a thug that hangs out with rappers and gangsters and he's just a street thug. Is AI really like that? I know he had that commercial saying he wasn't a gangster or thug or anything.

It's the redneck view of him.....
bobobrazil1984 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 At some point in the past, maybe there was a little of that with AI, but I think he's matured quite a bit, acknowledges he made bad decisions, just seems mroe balanced and less of that "thug" stereotype.
