RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I got the Observer this weekend earlier than usual - Meltzer did a look at the busy month of April ahead and Rhodes already knows what he's doing for the April ppv. Supposedly its not one, but two, six sided cage matches. I really like the Ultimate X and cage gimmicks, but they are getting extremely overbooked lately. What makes a gimmick main event match special when you hotshot another one just a few months later? I cant even think of who would be in these cage matches either - perhaps Styles v. Daniels and what else? Jarrett v. ???? Bad idea if you ask me....the only half interesting idea I wouldnt mind is if they did Wargames instead of two seperate cage matches. That would be kinda interesting . . could you see a War Games match with two six-sided rings? That would look really cool on TV, that's for sure. And with the right participants, maybe like an X-Division War Games of sorts, it would probably be a MOTY candidate. I doubt there's room in the Universal Studios arena though to do a two-ring event without losing a bunch of seats. Maybe for one of their first PPV's outside of Florida, it could work. brighty 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 thats dumb. Ultimate X and Six Sides Of Steel matches could be really special if they're done only rarely, and when it fits the storyline, 2 six sides of steel on one show is nuts. that'd be like the WWE putting two TLC matches on one show, or 2 hell in a cells. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Kinda off topic but a response to another: WWE hasn't touched TLC in over 18 months... if they had good enough teams, now would be the perfect time to do it again, since the staleness is pretty much gone, and it's only been done 4 times. Would they even have enough room to set it up in any arena? The cages have to be significantly larger than the old Wargames set-up. And they'd have to think up a new name. -=Mike

I don't think there are any tag teams worth putting in a high profile match like that. If they could somehow do War Games with the 6 sided cage that would get a few extra buys I'm sure. Better than grinding the few original ideas they have to death.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Who cares? Cage matches were probably special at one point, and even if TNA does these matches all of the time, they still offer something different. ROH or WWE or any other indy doesnt have 6 sided rings or Ultimate X.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 7, 2005 The person paying $30 for the same fucking match cares. Executive: We've already done everything with that cage! Executive Lacky: How bout doing 2 matches the same night? Executive: That is the... BEST idea I've ever heard!
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 If a sepcial is done all the time, it stops being special or different, and that damages its drawing power.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I can why you would say you dont want to keep paying 30 dollars to see the same match, but how does it stop being different if no one else offers it?
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 I can why you would say you dont want to keep paying 30 dollars to see the same match, but how does it stop being different if no one else offers it? It doesn't stop being different, but being different alone isn't always enough to be a draw. It has to be special as well, and it being done so often makes it less special and less of a draw. Sure, it's still different, but it's also not special anymore.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Let me put it this way: Crossroads was a different "road trip" film than Road Trip was. Which movie made more money? The better of the two. Being different doesn't make it better. Otherwise, I'd be better than all of you, which just isn't true (considering I'm only better than LFV and Swiggy). Vyce 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 I'm looking forward to the May PPV, where Dusty will probably book THREE Ultimate X matches, two cage matches, and a "full metal mayhem" match. All gimmick matches, all the time. It'll be glorious.

BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Wow he overbooks matches just like Vince Russo supposedly did, except Vince Russo atleast had entertaining storylines and listened to the talent.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Yep. So why is Dusty better than Russo again? Oh, right. Because he's "old school." At least Russo got smart and started booking things for more reason than to just shock and amaze people. Dusty seems to book just to see how fucked up he can make things before people stop watching. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Why is he their booker again? Dusty used to always do the cage match when he was NWA booker. Seriously...almost every show had at least one cage match.

Styles 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 I always thought a ladder match/steel cage combo would be a really cool match that to my knowledge has not been done yet.... Ultimate X: 6 Sides of Steel.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 I always thought a ladder match/steel cage combo would be a really cool match that to my knowledge has not been done yet.... Ultimate X: 6 Sides of Steel. WCW's House of Pain was a steel cage similar to HIAC with the belt suspended above the cage, and you needed to climb atop the cage to retrieve it. There was a door in the top of the cage, and you needed to use a ladder to get to the door to open it and climb atop the cage.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 12, 2005 The Triple Cage in WCW(ready to rumble fame) also had a chainlink ladder linking two of the levels together and a real ladder was there as a weapon.

Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2005 The Triple Cage in WCW(ready to rumble fame) also had a chainlink ladder linking two of the levels together and a real ladder was there as a weapon. As badass as that would be, I'm not so sure the Impact Zone has a high enough ceiling for that match. And speaking of that, I don't think it would be out of line for TNA to charge higher ticket prices for Lockdown if they did a WarGames with two six-sided rings to make up for the lost seats. Do they even OWN two six-sided rings?
