Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 There are movies that are guilty pleasures. There are movies you like because they're bad. And then there's Point Break. A movie that I admit isn't a "good movie" but I still love it. Fun, fun, fun. The director/cinematographer/edito must have known what they were doing because this movie is great to look at. I could watch it every week! Gary Busey is great in it ("I'm so hungry I could eat the ass end out of a dead rhino, I should have had you get me three of these things!"). Even Keanu can't sink it because he doesn't have to emote until 80 percent through the movie (and he still can't do it). And I'm never thought much of Patrick Swayze but he's delicious in that movie. razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Keanu fan are ya? Well then I challenge you to watch the evolution of Keanu as the action hero in one sitting. Policeman: Point Break (1991) Speed (1994) Man in Black if you will: Johnny Mnemonic (1995) The Matrix (1999) Constantine (2005)
Guest ken adams Report post Posted March 7, 2005 How about Keanu playing former star college quarterbacks? Point Break Replacements That is why Replacements is a good movie. Keanu actually portrayed a living, believable human, and the reason why is he already had experience of playing an ex-college star quarterback in Point Break. MrRant 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Ahh Roadhouse.... When I think of that movie the scene the pops in my head is the where the one dude is nailing that chick in the back room and Swazye comes in and fires him while he is still nailing her.
1234-5678 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 It was a damn shame when "The Fast And The Furious" came out and totally ripped off the concept of the great "Point Break." It just replaced surfing with racing really lame cars.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 "I used to fuck guys like you in prison." Such a well-written line...
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 When someone first mentioned Road House I thought of that line immediately. But why has no one mentioned the OTHER Swayze masterpiece of 1989......NEXT OF KIN?? Hey, it did have a good Liam Neeson performance to recommend it. It's funny that Swayze is upstaged by supporting players regularly (Elliot in Road House, Neeson, Whoopi in Ghost, heh).

I go about once a month (give them time to bring in new stuff) and buy a half dozen or so DVDs at a time.

1234-5678 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 Swayze as the surfing guru had some clutch lines that were sure to warp a rebellious teenage mind like mine was. "It's basic dog psychology, if you scare them and get them peeing down their leg, they submit. But if you project weakness, that promotes violence, and that's how people get hurt." "If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love." "Little hand says it's time to rock and roll."
