Guest MikeSC Report post Posted March 16, 2005 I haven't seen this anywhere, so here goes. TNA Impact spoilers from Orlando by Dave Meltzer [email protected] News from tonight's show in Orlando as it is happening. Crowd heat for the first hour of taping was said to have been excellent. The show opened with a heel celebration regarding Jeff Jarrett's win. Monty Brown told Jarrett that he owed him, but Jarrett blew him off. Christopher Daniels b Jerrelle Clark with the Angel's wings. Daniels is now calling himself Mr. TNA, because he beat Mr. TNA. Elix Skipper challenged Daniels for the title, saying nobody knows Daniels like he does. Kid Kash b Mikey Batts. Kash did a springboard somersault Van Terminator from one end to the other in the longer six-sided ring. Said to be an unbelievable looking jump. 3 Live Kru was in dissension because of Road Dogg's friendship with Mr. Ass. Dustin Rhodes & AMW b Chris Candido & The Naturals, with AMW doing the death sentence to Andy Douglas Mike Tenay interviewed Jarrett. Fans were screaming "Drop the title" at Jarrett. Jarrett, thinking he was funny, dropped the belt on purpose on the ground and laughed to annoy them. The gist of this is Jarrett, The Outlaw and Monty Brown are the new heel group, and they set them up to face Kevin Nash & DDP & Sean Waltman in a cage match on the next PPV. Dusty announced after the great match with Phi Delta Slam vs. The Harris Twins on PPV, that it was so good he's signing both teams, and because the Slams did such a great job in losing, that Trinity, who was supposed to leave, is still his assistant, with Traci. Wow, nobody saw what happened to WCW when they ignored stips, did they? Shocker b David Young. Shocker got a big reaction. DDP & Waltman b Buck Quartermain & Lex Lovett. It will be interesting to see how this is edited and this is viewed. Lovett screwed up an armdrag spot and Waltman kicked him hard in the mouth. It appeared Waltman and the Fairplay guys (and after the angle on Sunday, no Fairplay managing) weren't working well. Buck dropped Waltman, who has had a broken neck in the past, right on his head and appeared to hurt him. Worse, it was intentional. Waltman appeared hurt bad and really pissed off. Second taping Abyss started threatening Trinity and Traci in the truck. A.J. Styles saved them and they started brawling, so I guess that's the second cage match on PPV Trytan b Buck Quartermain with the F-5 Another 3 Live Kru argument regarding The Outlaw Hardy & Shocker b Lovett & Young when Shocker pinned Young Ron & Don Harris b Shark Boy & Cassidy Riley DDP came out and called out Dusty to see if their six-man challenge was answered. Dusty said the match is on. Jarrett then appeared on the sceen, and behind him, Brown, Outlaw, Candido and the Naturals were beating up Nash Raven tried to get Hardy to be his tag partner, since both have cult followings, so it's reasonable to suggest, they could have a bigger cult. Hardy turned him down. Apolo b Sonny Siaki with a roll-up. Kid Kash & Lance Hoyt made fun of both of them, so it looks like Apolo & Siaki are going to be a tag team. Shane Douglas interviewed Dustin Rhodes. Bobby Roode & Scott D'Amore came out. It's Rhodes vs. Roode in a Texas vs. Canada feud AMW b Phi Delta Slam via DQ when Team Canada interfered, and Dustin Rhodes saved http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/news/...t.asp?aID=12710 Their PPV's might be decent --- but, man, Impact looks atrocious for the next 2 weeks. -=Mike
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Jarrett, thinking he was funny, dropped the belt on purpose on the ground and laughed to annoy them. That IS funny. But Jesus Christ. HARRIS BOYS? Apolo is a stupid decision. Dustin Rhodes is a stupid decision. Phi Delta Slam is a stupid decision. But The Harris Boys being kept around is such a God damn spit in the face, what with the fact that they've never drawn a dime in their lives. Plus, Ron (or Don, whichever one) could've gotten TNA some really bad publicity back when we had that Nazi symbol on his shirt.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Isn't it an unwritten law that you don't intentionally stiff the veterans? Sure X-Pac/Syxx-Pac/Waltman can be a dickhead, but thats just unprofessional. At least a kick in the mouth only knocks out a tooth or three. Dropping someone on their neck after a long list of injuries is just plain wrong. Waltman isn't right in kicking the guy in the mouth just because of 1 botched move, though. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted March 16, 2005 There is still another hour of tapings coming. They do 3 at once? The 3rd better rock, because the first two, honestly, sound terrible. -=Mike

Vyce 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 I'm with Mike, Impact looks atrocious for the next 2 weeks. TNA does one good thing (SHOCKER~!) and continues about 8 different bad ones (Phi Delta Slam, the Harris Bros., Dustin Rhodes, Brown heel turn, Jarrett with the title STILL, etc.). Man, fuck Dusty Rhodes.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Who are Phi Delta Slam? Sounds like a really bad Frat name.

I know I'm the "anti-TNA" guy and all --- but the first two shows really sound unwatchable. Like that WWE call-in show on TNN that I had to recap for WrestleLine for a while. -=Mike ...Well, not THAT bad, but lord, it isn't good...
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 From Meltz: " It appears the third show will be one match from each of the first two shows, plus these two matches Abyss b Cassidy Riley. He went to get the thumb tacks, but Hardy ran in. Raven then attacked Hardy, until Styles made the save. Skipper won a four-way over Michael Shane (using that name), Petey Williams and Chris Sabin. Sabin pinned Williams and then Skipper pinned Shane and then Sabin to win it. Most likely this is a winner gets a shot at Daniels' X title match."

natey2k4 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Three things to say... Good job on letting Shocker get some wins under his belt... If they put Dustin Rhodes over Bobby Roode.. $@$% YOU TNA. And finally... I LOVE YOU BUCK QUARTERMAIN... hahaha
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Waltman isn't right in kicking the guy in the mouth just because of 1 botched move, though. Good thing it was Waltman and not, say Perry Saturn. - I still don't know what Shocker's finisher is. I know he's got that "man of 1000 ballshots" thing, and he's entertaining every time I see him on CMLL, but does he have something else? - I guess Apolo needs to find something other than that Ace Crusher variant he used, and his punishment is teaming with Siaki? - So Monty's over as a face, therefore he turns heel and joins Jarrett's stable. I'm not sure if this is more Russo-type booking or Jarrett being a HHH wannabe. - Speaking of stables, Team Canada is RIGHT THERE but they're still treated like third class citizens. I guess D'Amore really doesn't have the influence that he used to.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 - I still don't know what Shocker's finisher is. I know he's got that "man of 1000 ballshots" thing, and he's entertaining every time I see him on CMLL, but does he have something else? A spinning backbreaker type submission called La Reina. The lowblow is the #1 Cheat-to-Win finish used by badguys in Mexico since they rarely use weapons or hold tights.
Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted March 18, 2005 They called the move the shock wave. Ok so I'm watching that Xpac match to see what happens and he gives whomever two nasty kicks. One was a roundhouse and the other was his jumping back kick that he routinely fucks up. Buck I guess then gives him a quick japanese(?) german that puts the impact on his neck. You can see him mouth something off real quick to Buck's back and looking pissed holding his neck. However, he then proceeds to take several moves to his head including a quite neat looking slingshot guillotine leg drop to the outside. So I'm not sure if it was a work, or he just went along with it because he isn't a leader in the ring. I know if I would have had my neck possibly re-injured I'd get my opponent to work the leg or arm. Considering this was a glorified squash, the audience isn't really going to care if they start working over another body part.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Elix did a decent promo but they need to work on putting more base in his voice. I am disappointed that they did not let Shocker use his submission move . What he did against Young was just a hammerlock small package. Tenay called the suplex a backdrop suplex but Tony Schiavonie would of called it a sidewalk slam...
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 First Impact sucks. Then their PPVs suck and their Impacts are decent. Now both suck. Amazing. *claps for Dusty* *waits for Hard Justice 2005 with 6 Steel Cage Matches and 5 Ultimate X matches*

Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I watched that first episode of Impact and it reminded me of a poor episode of Nitro circa 1998. Christopher Daniels was really the only bright spot on the show, his match was decent, his promo was pretty good, and he has a good presence. Jarrett's promo was straight out of HHH-land. And that Kash-Batts match was absolutely god-awful. Kash's finisher reminded me of an early Undertake tombstone in that the victim's head wasn't anywhere close to the mat. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Since I'm in DC I don't get Impact 'til 1:30 Sunday morning, but I just wanted to know from those of you who saw it already it is the X-Division Shootout as good as the spoilers said it was? I haven't really watched an entire episode of Impact since the one that was headlined by Styles/Kash, but the talk about this one (plus watchin the WWE HoF induction) has got me ready to see some wrestling, so I think I'm going to actually watch Impact as it airs for the first time in forever. Just wanted to know if it worth the buzz it got when it was taped. Also, just for discussion's sake, what do you guys think of this new plan TNA seems to have of featuring one "workrate" match per month on Impact? Do you think doing that causes people to want to check out their PPVs to see what these guys can do with time or do you think it causes people to skip the PPVs because they are getting long matches on TV? It'd be interesting to see the ratings for each episode to see if the shows headlined by those matches do any better than the other episodes, where matches usually aren't announced "in advance."
